Certainly on nearly new cars and the like, but after five or six years the new car prices make little difference on the market as the majority of the value of the vehicle has already gone. I couldn’t see my first Mini at £50 would have been reduced much by a new one being reduced £20 from £650 edit : actually I think even a £20 discount would have been tough to get back then, make it a tenner

That’s what I thought, nothing to do with people not affording new cars affecting older car prices, but then Pathe News was ever so, ever so patriotic.

What I didn’t understand or make sense to me was “old cars are cheap because people cannot afford new cars”.....surely old cheap cars would be more in demand, obviously I am completely out of touch with 1950’s vehicle market conditions

Pretty sure that’s correct, if you think about it......you have to lift to hook onto an eye on the truck/coach, the hook should point downwards to stop it slipping out. Does that make sense? -
When I worked on the local rag I got called out to loads of accidents, one particular curvey road in Hutton near Shenfield there was a massive old oak tree right on a bend, it had NO bark left on the road side and has several little neat round holes in the bare trunk caused by the crank pulley boss on quite a few cars, indeed big trees DO NOT back down in a one to one and the only crumple zone is half an inch of bark......don’t do it!

I imagine most have seen the BBC footage from Leeds yesterday, most behaving themselves early during the day (but very doubtful it was truly socially distanced) but later in the evening it was “back to normal”......loads of drunken hoards of youngsters/20 somethings whatever, being very liberal with their friendliness and some of course being carried home, no doubt some by strangers.....as was normal!

That’s what he told me they did.....strapped their tin helmet to the bottom of the sling, thankfully he and his unit got away with no injury’s from these escapades at all, although one of his mates was “felled” by a grenade at the base of a pole, luckily the wires held it from complete disaster.
