  1. If ever there was a reason to lock a thread…..
  2. Talking modern classics…..I always thought the Maestro/Montego were pretty good cars for their time, mainly failed down to production quality and industrial problems, well just like most things BLMC really.
  3. And I oh so nearly bought one a few years ago….still wish I had but when I tried to get in and out……I don’t remember cars being so small when I was younger, like my clothes
  4. I don’t think that has anything to do with insect stings………just what district of Munich you happen to be in
  5. We didn’t have many school trips, but we did go to Stonehenge once, back then all us kids could climb all over the stones…..we even tried to push one over, oddly we couldn’t get it to move
  6. We used to trailer our Mini racer with a Maxi 1750, it was a comfy reasonably good tow car with appalling fuel economy when towing though, then we changed to a Citroen DS…….ahhh bliss.
  7. Yes why not, I quite like the Allegro, I learnt to drive in a 1100/1300 so……
  8. My criteria would be one that takes my fancy at the time, but it wouldn’t be an Ital.
  9. I got one of those as well, no idea how as I have never contacted Hornby or bought from them direct, hmmm
  10. The panto on mine is as floppy as a floppy thing in floppy world. I haven’t tried to modify it or force it in any way, it’s how it was out of the box, in fact it is still in the box only out for decoder fitting, photographs and running in. Thankfully it runs lovely, no melted body no derailments….but then it’s not coupled to anything. Had I have to judge the APT on just the NDM I have I would have said it’s a great model but has a crappy pantograph which brings the model down.
  11. It doesn’t really matter though does it? There are much more worrying things going on at the moment than trying to guess (or tease out information about) a new model. Doesn't everybody like a surprise?
  12. I wondered that also, I’d like to know if the model has an emotional link for her. I just cannot imagine anyone in the classic trade just thinking, ah yes the Ital, that’ll make a great future classic And there are plenty of old vehicles that aren’t “fancy sports cars” which make excellent classics.
  13. Only one? Three main parts are plastic, the lower arm, the upper arm and the pan head, the metal parts are the leg base, the spring (that does FA) and the single support rod (which does FA) You can see how impressed I am with it the panto on mine only stays up when the NDM is upside down! I had to use a bit of heat shrink tube to pose it for the picture.
  14. They probably weren’t allowed to eat their sausage sandwich on them though
  15. I did get a very odd look from one of them when he wandered in while I was eating my sandwich perched on the afore mentioned seating……apparently no one but an elected representative is allowed to grace those leather covers with their rear end. He didn’t say anything, just a look of disdain as this 20 year old kid in jeans and tee-shirt gobbled a sausage sandwich. Mind you from what goes on now it’s probably not the first time he’d seen a sausage being gobbled down in that chamber
  16. Looking at the state of the place…..and this from somebody who had a job back in the late 70’s to photograph the seating refurbishment, tower and the broken clock mechanism I’d say they took the sensible route, the place is an absolute pit under the old charm style and thick layers of rat shite!
  17. That’s in normal parking “lots”, this is really about the US system of the angled bays and started with US parallel parking.
  18. Or you could send it back for a warranty repair, Dapol will never get the message otherwise.
  19. It is in a lot of the angled parking lots, not heard it’s illegal in true parallel parking though, then again it is America.
  20. No, she was being interviewed from her house in France.
  21. Yes I know, in my much younger days I flew a bit, no heavies though What surprised me was he had enough fuel to make two journeys effectively, not just a contingency for diversion. Anyway, wrong thread.
