  1. Funnily enough there was an interview with a woman on TV about her flight into the U.K., she left Bordeaux and I think was due to land at Stansted, but obviously the weather was such that every airport at the time when they approached the U.K. was closed only Glasgow was open but had major snow predicted so the pilot decided to turn around and go back to Bordeaux! I wonder if he had an feeling it would be a bit dodgy and loaded up in fuel more than usual, because otherwise that’s a lot of fuel to carry around just in case. I suppose it could have been a “quick turn around” flight and did in fact have the fuel but it spoilt her day
  2. Indeed, the red warning for the South East was given at 4am Friday morning……when the top bods are all tucked up in their luxury feather duvets
  3. Having been in the cab of an HST at high speed when a Pheasant decided to play a game of his close cousin the Chicken……that made enough mess, although just mess and a very, very loud bang……agree completely.
  4. Would they? That would be great thank you….if you could arrange that. All I said was it was annoying…..and the righteous souls come out and give a sermon. Don’t bother answering, I’m off to the beach for a walk.
  5. Stop it, whenever they do it it will be annoying to somebody…this time it is me and my family…OK? And note, it is half term, and it is very busy here in Cornwall this week, so maybe a little fore thought could have helped? And it was the bus service between Exeter and Plymouth closure that was the issue.
  6. Classic…..”oh…it’s for the neighbours, I’ll take it round right away” And down the side to the shed before she knows it
  7. Just don’t flush it away…..even a working tilt mechanism won’t get it around the bend
  8. When they did the “tune” did they take an emission reading at the rolling road establishment? I’ve had a couple of friends who have had chipped turbo cars all set up and tuned on quite established rolling roads and then failed MoT a few weeks or months later, one with a very high reading…..in fact you could smell the rich exhaust which I did tell him about but he insisted it was all set up properly. edit: more “poppy” sounds like a combination of rich mixture and timing (cam). Could be just the cam timing as well though, but that hasn’t changed obviously? edited again! : I don’t know but does the Mini have a variable timing cam?
  9. Not my choice, we are happy for her to stay longer but they live on the farm so when the news said "danger to life" she just shrugged her shoulders and said just another day then And TBH they wont be going until Sat midday....it'll have blown over by then according to the forecast on Dark Sky.
  10. Our daughter and grand daughter were supposed to being going home today by train, now her husband will be taking a trip from Norfolk to Cornwall to collect them, even the service over the weekend is awful (engineering work) no wonder people don’t use the trains for leisure any more, weekends are always disrupted.
  11. They have cancelled all services here, but yes the north coast is getting the brunt today although even here it’s blowing a gale outside, already had a neighbours green house panel fly into the garden!
  12. And that’s all we need to know…….now hurry up and get both my full sets in the market please, I just finished the road roller for the duel
  13. Could produce another 121 pages though?
  14. Roughly £6K for a polish and your a dealer
  15. Yes, I understand that bit but when it got so close again why not just put it in reverse again and keep going, I know it’s different observing the incident and actually being there but…….still a silly accident.
  16. I fitted mine with a Zimo 600 which is small enough to be fitted as Hornby recommends without fouling body tilt or operation. I only have the NDM as I want to use my 40 year old set with it, and the NDM by itself has been running around my layout which is all Trix-C track with a few 2nd radius curves and points for hours without issue (and with sup-cap), but then so did the 40 year old set before.
  17. Was the pop riveted zinc alloy scuff plates standard on them? My suspicious mind says “hiding problems” but it could be perfectly innocent.
  18. Indeed….but why did he/she stop reversing? Silly accident.
  19. I’d thought it would be less TBH as the motor is controlled from the chip so in effect the motor is isolated from the rails. Just a thought.
  20. Married a Chinese farmer? She’ll soon get trenchfoot and be back begging for the purple paint under her finger nails.
  21. I wonder what the readout would be with DCC as the track energy is I believe just a steady 14>18vAC The chip converts it into the D.C. signal voltage for the motor.
  22. Now you just need a coupler there
