  1. But surely it wasn’t a serious suggestion just a another nudge for a bit of chat?
  2. Our “new” tariff was emailed to us yesterday, the electric per KWh has gone up about 40% but the standing daily charge has slightly more than doubled to 51p The gas charges per KWh have doubled but the daily charge remains almost the same.
  3. Some boilers (our Vaillant for example) activate a high temperature cycle at a determined period to kill legionella. And don’t believe the often stated fact that copper pipe work kills legionella, the amount of copper released from the pipe work needs to be of a magnitude higher than that of a CH system.
  4. Won’t make any difference….unless it’s on a Russian registered freighter
  5. Well unfortunately our gas meter is going to be changed next month for a smart meter, I have been refusing Smart meters since they were introduced but our old original British Gas meter which is nearly thirty years old has not been reading gas consumption since last August, we got changed from Pure Planet (who ignored every month when O told them with the reading it was faulty) to Shell Energy and they noticed to discrepancy in the first two readings and actually read my email telling them of the fault and I needed a new meter fitted. Bad news is they do not fit the old mechanical meters anymore so a smart gas meter is the only option. They also wanted to change the electric meter as well for a smart meter but I said I didn’t want one and they said if they fit a new gas they will have to fit a new electric as well, I rang the company who are going to fit the new meters and told them ours is a vulnerable household with a hospital bed and air mattress and cannot have the supply interrupted for more than 15 minutes as the bed is permanently occupied and they stated they could not provide an alternative power supply while the work on the electric meter was being carried out so could not fit that meter. Not too bad as it’s the electric meter I really object to having as a smart meter, because I now what’s going to happen eventually, peak rate charging.
  6. That’s interesting, what did they use as a rear axle as obviously the Mini is just trailing arms?
  7. Oi! My favourite Loco, mainly because they were the ones I saw most of out of my kitchen/lounge windows (ER Liverpool St line)……I’ll raise you a Class 28…..aha…see? Actually I really like the Class 28 as well…..nurse…..nurse….NURSE!!!!
  8. I built a Loco looking the same as that one back when I was about twelve or thirteen, I bought it because I liked making Airfix kits but wanted to build a working Loco, it was white metal and I used bostic* to hold it together, I never did get it running as my engineering skills were pretty poor back than but I do know it weighed a ton! *I didn’t know any better
  9. It was just to keep it warm, my cocoa (I got laughed at for that) stayed warm all the way to Newcastle
  10. It was either that or make an entirely new four wheel drive system, Citroen did the same with the 2CV.
  11. No picture here, just a “throbbing grey square”
  12. “Can we get the chaps from styling to look at doing a canvas top now please?”
  13. Hang on, hang on……you mean your not delivering them personally?
  14. Absolutely correct. About two years ago I bought a secondhand Hornby 31 all singing model from Ellisclark, it came looking like new and only cost £100, it had been professionally weathered (and a bonus was it had a chip in it, but not sound which it has now) and to me it looks very nice, sounds great and performs faultlessly, but there is no way I could justify the RRP/discounted new price for one of these……but the Accurascale version? Yes indeed I think it’s a bargain.
  15. Andy, but criticism of a review that hasn’t yet been published yet cannot be argued against…..really it can’t.
  16. I asked the same question and it was answered by McC quite clearly, if and when a sound file becomes available a sound version (or an upgrade to a pre ordered non sound version can be made) will be made available.
  17. My old Hasselblad equipment bought me a Porsche Boxster S……..quite a bit more fun
  18. That was it, Kodak Gaslight……thank you
