  1. No known history of diabetes in either side of his family going back several generations, none in living relatives - but could be buried in the genes of course. Reading about this it looks like - as you say - Covid (and presumably the vaccine) can trigger the immune system to misbehave.
  2. The difference though Ian is you don't get forcibly injected to drive on the left. My son's half brother had his second jab (he's 18) a couple of weeks ago, the other day he was rushed to hospital and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, the only symptoms he'd seen had started since the second jab (thirst, tired feeling), so now he has to inject etc. for life - connected to the vaccine ? - who knows, no-one is interested in finding out, they merely say "It doesn't matter how he developed it, he has it and it needs to be managed", it seems very coincidental but maybe it is, or maybe it isn't.
  3. While not the shortest, Tranmere station on the Birkenhead Joint was unusual as it opened as Lime Kiln Lane, the name was changed to St Paul's Road and finally to Tranmere - all within the 11 years it was open, 1846-1857.
  4. My Mrs went on the NHS website last night and it took her less than 1 minute to book an appointment at a suitable time and on a date of her choosing.
  5. Friday night the Mrs and I went out to see the Rocky Horror show in Norwich, no masks, we tested before we went and tested today (she has to test anyway because she's school staff) - all clear, it was a great night out with hundreds of people singing, laughing and dancing - great to feel alive again. We are both double and flu jabbed, we both have anti bodies (as we are part of an ONS survey involving samples of blood this is lab confirmed) and we both have boosters booked for dates in the next 10 days.
  6. So he should contact the police and report the previous owners then as they effectively donated them to him by leaving them behind - a.k.a a free gift.
  7. Haughley Junction points lost detection, took a good while and a good deal of disruption before that was restored. The Basil combo failed on Monday and Tuesday due to jetter issues, as you say these seem to have been resolved today. 68/88 supposedly on 3S60 all week but time will tell.
  8. It's the EDP, those of us who live in the area are well used to their reports
  9. Saturdays run was 88004 and 37425 - 425 has now returned to Crewe for maintenance and was replaced by 68033, first run of 88004 and 68033 was Monday. The jetters have failed on both days so they haven't done the full circuit yet (for 3S60)
  10. The train speed was lowered temporarily as the (AHB) barriers were damaged and the trains needed to be hand signalled over the crossing.
  11. I must admit I failed to fully realise that both trains were heading in the same direction and 1F30 had been at a stand for 7 minutes after striking an object in the tunnel before 1L53 hit it, 3/4 rear on the junction - adds a new dimension but I won't speculate. Christian Wolmar was claiming the signals might have gone black - on GMB this morning - but then drivers would stop at them. Time to let the RAIB do it's work.
  12. Fixed it for you so it's relevant to at least the last 50 years that I know of. Edit : (Obviously Facebook (or should that be Meta ?) can be replaced with a pack of photographs from Boots for 1970s/1980s/1990s)
  13. The one to the left is when the box controls the slot on another boxes signal, the one on the right is when the signal is controlled by the box but slotted by another box. On the LM the slot symbol would be smaller than the main arm
  14. Sad to hear about Mal, knew him for many years as WFRM (and predecessors) had a close involvement with Hull for a long time - we shared many a good beer together in some of Hulls finest - and other places around the country, Cheers Mal, rest in peace.
