  1. A sound engineer friend had a punter at a gig say to him "what happens if I touch that button?" The answer "Your nose bleeds" wasn't what he expected! Andi
  2. If someone leans on my layout then I reserve the right to paint the offending part of that person to match the scenery Andi
  3. What decoder do they have fitted?
  4. I presume you have turned the brightness of the lights down in the decoder settings? This is done by switching them on and off extremely rapidly. If you put them to full brightness they will stop flickering like that but will probably be too bright. The only real solution is to change the resistor values on the light circuits. Andi
  5. The only skinhead 31/4s were 418 (which existed in unrefurb and refurb periods) and 444/450/461 which only existed in refurbed form Andi Edit: forgot one! thanks @Hairy Bear Digital

  7. Acrylic or enamel? I find that ballast glue causes tarnish until it’s fully dried (yellow rail heads), could it be that your paint hasn’t completely cured yet? Where is the layout? (Loft, shed etc.?) Andi

  9. I don't have the equipment for working ply to the level of accuracy needed for making frames, the board tops were recycled from a festival so all I had to do with them was cut them in half with a jigsaw. Softwood frames allowed me a lot more flexibility for terrain changes where the landscape is below the track board within my own skill levels. Andi

  11. I’m working with 4ft square boards at the moment, 9mm ply on 3x1 softwood frames. While they are not too bad for weight it’s more a matter of how to hold them to move them. They are awkward but manageable, though half the time I’m moving them up and down stairs. Andi
  12. Simple answer. fit the best that you can afford. Andi
  13. I’ve had three separate phone calls from EON-next this week about changing my electricity meter. None of them seem to be aware of the previous calls until they dig into my records and suddenly realise that they’ve already spoken to me. Andi
  14. Check photos of both ends though, fitting of speed sensing equipment as part of the deadmans in the mid 80s involved conversion to sealed beam lights at one end as the equipment went inside the old headcode box. Andi
  15. Thank you Kevin, That is a really useful picture of the box, it shows exactly the layout of the steps as well which I was previously unsure of. The bridge itself is not particularly easy to photograph, only really visible clearly from Gyppeswick Park with a telephoto lens. Andi
  16. Hi all, An appeal for assistance if anyone is able to help. I need photos of London Road railway bridge in Ipswich to aid in building an accurate model of it. I have some photos from Flickr but none are brilliant, in particular I have nothing that shows the down side wing wall on the London side of the bridge. Also any photos that show detail of the parts at the base of the three long arches, as to whether they are brick or concrete, and details of the pipe and its supports. And an extra ask, does anyone have any photos of the signal box that used to stand on the Up side of the bridge that controlled the exit from the Yard and later became a shunters cabin, and the walkway from the road down to it please? Can anyone help please?
