All those pictures of BR Blue!!
I like the Bridging strip of ballast.....idea duly noted
Would it be possible to have a cassete with proper track on it and a point to make an off scene run around?

The chaps in the picture though are stood quite a long way from the door, and the plan seems to be in proportion
eg the window cross bar and the porters room door levels are the same in picture and plan,,,,
I think the reason the public doors were so big was to give an impression of the Presence & Grandeur of the Railway to the would-be traveller

on my 2mm scale drawing of Abbotsbury in combined edition of GW BLT the doors are 8ft 6 high, and the knob is 3 ft off the floor level....
I never bothered to measure any but Id have well educated guess that most Victorian era station building doors Ive been through are very much in that heght range.....
-
Dont think anything is wrong......railway station doors are big things! And the chaps hand is just right for turning the door knob.......
-
I dont know if its still there but on the wall in the bar area (to the left hand side) there used to be a framed copy of the architect's drawing (1:100) of the front of the buidling showing the new build and the original structure

Certainly looks very much like Par to me
Are you going to be having a model of The Royal next to the bridge?
-
Then why are most picture frames natural wood?
Cos its not quite the same.....a picture frame is part of the decor, a layout fascia is deliberatley not part of it...... IMO of course
-
I've always thought the "mainline" should be 2/3 to the rear and the front of the "focus area" ie the track, about a 1/3 in from the front of the layout....Water on the front always works well for making reflections too
As to black, I like it....its liek been in the theatre or cinema
and you can always crop the photo to suit
-
I could tell where that was even without the word "par" been mentioned
-
Very nice and very neat,,,and some pix of the old place are always good to see
I cna't help you with the colour I'm afraid - Having studied thosse walls at very close quarters many times all I can think is "definate green tinge" to the stonework.......
-
Sist Trees / The Model Tree Shop do some pretty decent arboreculture....have a look at thier website
-
A timely reminder for me that culverts only appear to be round when its not rained much lately!
-
No its not to me....its more a matter of what looks right, is right......
-
I'd tend to agree with Tony, some of the trees at CJ must have been pretty high in the early 80s - cos the certainly were 10 years ago...
as for Scultamould and porridge, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that!
-
PS cracking picture of "Kyle" on the back page of the 2mm Magazine latest issue:)
-
With a lot of flange squeal IIRC
I always particularly recall seeing one of the BIG yellow things waiting in the loop in the yard at Liskeard very early one misty morning, and trust me, that one was very yellow indeed - It seemed as if the sun had dropped out of the sky!

F/L 66 on bright yellow Cargowaggons! Proper job!!!
-
Good to see this back "in the works" - must have been my recent trip to the area that restarted things eh ?
If Fowey had a 3 dongle signal I may even have been on site for you....ah well maybe Ill be back there in a couple of weeks !

These really are very good
I dont know if it is a portent of things to come but in the pic of the 26 waiting its next duties ,the station building winodws look very much liek the Cross of St Piran! (just like my avatar!)
-
Seconded!
It must be nearly 29 years since I last visited Pendon - looks they have been cracking on a bit since then!!
I was with me dad and there was only us left in so they turned the lights off just for us to show the Nightscene and I've been kinda captivated by such things ever since
-
Now its "in position" it looks brilliant!
The third first picture is (probably) just like being there....... Probably only cos the nearest I've ever been so far is Edinburgh! and the third picture looks like a very well presented model
-
I don't think that 37s did have 32 on......I thought 32 was the maximum length (til EWS tried 36!)
I thought it was more like 24 with a class 37, and I used to lie in bed and hear 'em grinding their way up from Middleway - just never counted em!
Someone will know for sure on here though
-
Ill certainly be following this one so do keep us all up to date
Par station is 190yds long according to the Sectional Appendix - I trust Google Earth confirms this

Gate, Huts look fine to me....mainly on the basis if they were there they are right
Mark's stock looks fab - though the Driver on the 150 has pulled up a bit to far
Are they the Graham Avis / 4-D trees?
