I definately prefer the re-worked versions, IMO a backscene should be exactly that - something to back up the 3d model, not over power it as some photo backscenes appear to do....
-
Ah yes, looking very good indeed. In fact, it might even work without the station building (no, really).I forget: those letters in the text, what are they made from?
As a "proportion thing" it might well work better without the station building, or maybe a very much shortened version of it......
-
I thought this was "the other project!"
-
I cant think of a "prototype" but the change in angles of the bridges looks very appropriate to my eyes
-
When I saw your drawing last night, and the link to the Bing maps View I recognised it straight away so in my book that means you have got the app mastered
-
Very interesting Paul _ C(h)aldron wagons have always fascinated me just not sure I could think of a use for them any where other than a coal field.....
-
I really do like this plan....and, as often before, your showing of the "working out" is as inspiring as any actual modelling.

This looks great !
Cornfield St is my second fave Rice plan ( he did one for me years ago that is still at the planning stage )
As you say no need to re-invent to the wheel
-
I don't want to start the old "gauge argument" in 4mil ....and then does precisely that

yes! yes!
Thats just is the cream on the cherry on top of the cake!!!!
-
Shire Scenes do one type of point lever.......
Looks great already btw...definately got that "overgrown Mid Cornwall" look about it - reminds me I shall have some strimming to do soon
-
Ha! You're sure someone isn't winding you up, Chris? Best, Pete.
no they are all over
-
but its not p4 - how dare you!!
-
This is looking good Pete - The small curve in the corner sure makes a difference; something I have just taken note of for my own purposes
-
First time I have had a proper look at this project - I shall keep an eye on it though
hope it all goes well and is finished quickly.........Now why would I want that to happen I wonder?

Bodmin and Wadebridge Goods Stations were known as "Wharfs"
-
This is already starting to look "right"
As to a name Treskilling Wharf seems somehow appropriate

And here I am! Definatley worth the suspense of waiting - thanks for giving this preview of your plans. I was on the Netbook yesterday so it was rather like looking at your excellent drawings through opera glasses the wrong way round!
The new version of the 1:10 proving model is exactly as I imagined you to have imagined it - you can tell why you are an architect, you've got that "vision thing" down to a T
To me it most certainly compliments and completes the whole project - for some reason the slight turn of the line towards the rear of the layout at the terminus adds a bit of extra "Looe-ness" - possibly 'cos it allows for a bit of extra water (or mud!) which to me is the defining feature of the station.
I really can't wait to see this one take shape (after Xmas of course!)
so onwards and upwards with Kyle

I like
This looks very much like what a smaller version of my Western region in the 70s idea is aimed at ending up like....except executed a lot better I guess
-
I see what you mean about the "mauveness" (in a good way:) )
I think it looks great under the daylight (then again my Art Teacher is probably sitll laughing at my attempts 25 years later )
-
That really does look "dull", in the nicest possible meaning...
Im even lazier, I use T-Cut to bring the glazing back to sort of shiny
-
short post.....welcome back Ian.....always like to read (and look at and admire) your bits posted on here
-
That really does look fab The interior is as good as I have ever seen
I've always assumed that the round ends were either something to do with the sheeting of loads, so as not to get puddles of water on the sheets; or simply a hangover from "horse n cart" technology - Im probably miles out on both points though.....

Cheers and Compliments of the Season to all Swaggonians from the cold dark hills of The Dark Peak (foothills division)

Gotta agree with Russ there about "Scaling Down" colours, and maybe to gently remind some that it is a backscene for a model, not a work of art in its own right....Its there to compliment what goes off in the 3-D world in front of it not steal the limelight (IMO of course)
