  1. enjoyed a coastal drive from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth watching the waves coming ashore on Slapton Beach, all at a balmy +6°C. Paid respects at the Sherman tank memorial and the U.S. forces D-Day memorial on the beach. http://www.exercisetigermemorial.co.uk/

Interesting little anecdote of more recent times. When the railway was washed away at Cowley Bridge Jct in 2000, I attended a meeting with the Head of Transportation for Devon County Council, and was generally being criticised for the slowness of Railtracks actions in repairing the railway. However, when I mentioned the fact that Devon CC had not repaired the washed-away road along the sea shore at Slapton, that didn't go down so well!

Barmy weather. I gave up an idea to go to Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast as it was -2c in Ipswich, brrgh.
