  1. Hi Jules, Thanks for the kind words, I'm not sure about standing up to Bachmann's new model but if I can get it looking more like a 25 then that's good enough for me. Now the new chassis has been built I'm now looking at the fuel tank area. Cheers Wayne
  2. Nice work, It'll be nice to see them painted up. I quite like the look of Jon's Cargo wagon twin kit, I could do with one for the china clay layout. Cheers Wayne
  3. Hi teacupteacup, The ones I use are BWF082/4 - BR W Irons for air brake stock. Hope that helps. Cheers Wayne
  4. Nice work Will. Do you have a layout for all these locos to run on? Cheers Wayne
  5. Reassembling the chassis has started with the three main H beam cross members that join the centre brackets under the body, I've used 2mm H section and in the photo below you'll see these installed. Going down this route does mean more work but it allows the chassis to be more correctly modelled and makes it possible to fit some extra detailing, as I'm modelling a loco that doesn't have a boiler water tank it leaves the underframe area quite open so I've decided to fit as much detail as possible whilst still being able to use it as a layout loco. Next I'll install two longitudinal members and then I'll start on the fuel tank area. Cheers Wayne
  6. It's been a little while since I updated this thread but I've recently started working on a class 25 for the new layout, this has been a learning curve for because class 25s are normally out of my period. The first area to start with are some modifications to the chassis. Once some redundant plastic has been removed I'll fabricate a new chassis frame from H beam plastic section and after that work on the fuel tank and battery boxes. More soon. Cheers Wayne
  7. Looks a lovely little layout, would happily take it on if I had the space! Good luck with the show.
  8. Thank you for the kind words. However I can only take credit for the stock that runs on it, the layout having been built by a chap called Dave Tailby who lives on here somewhere. I really should draw up a proper track plan but it's not hard to work out the plan from the pictures. The dimensions are about 5' x 14'' tapering down to 7''. Hope that helps.
  9. It was a nice surprise to see this today at Lydney, I had no idea it was attending as it wasn't listed. Has there haven't been any updates for a while I was wondering if the layout had been sold/retired. I'll share a couple of photo's tomorrow if you don't mind? Cheers Wayne
  10. Hello guys, Nice to see this again today at Lydney. I was hoping to meet Paul (Swindon 123) to finally thank him in person for his contributions when I was building my Dragon Steels layout, but I didn't get the chance although I heard he was around. WIll post up some photo's tomorrow if nobody minds? Cheers Wayne
  11. I hope it is going. I saw it at Swansea last year and have been waiting to see it again. Cheers Wayne
  12. Hi, Can I ask if you weather to prototype pictures as you go along? Cheers
  13. Thanks for that. I see it lists the layout as 1950's Scotland, surely that should be 1970's going by the photo's on here?
  14. Nice work. I remember seeing this layout some time ago and was impressed by what can be done in a small space. Whilst reading through I saw you had a Prawn bogie bolster fitted with spratt and winkle couplings, how did you go about fitting these? I'm scratching mt head on how to use these on bogie stock. Cheers Wayne
  15. Hello Rob, Sorry for the delayed reply and thanks for the suggestion. Since the photo I have since adjusted the bridge and it now looks better, just as I thought I had built it slightly too long which resulted in the big gap. I'll post up another photo soon but it's good to be getting on with this layout again. Cheers Wayne
  16. Nice work Peter, it's the simple things that count. Was the weathering done with washes? I have a GUV and CCT to do for a short train on the new layout. Cheers Wayne
  17. Is this layout still going, not seen anything of it on here for a while? Cheers Wayne
  18. Well this thread is long overdue an update so lets get that sorted. I've been quite busy working on china clay and steel related stock for another layout project so Tunnock Yard was pushed down the list some what but now most of that has been finished apart from one or two things today I started work on a low relief bridge for the scenic break. The bridge is based 'loosely' on a real one local to me although I'll most likely change it slightly to suit my location on the layout. The reason for the wide span is that there will be a third road with a left hand point diverging from it into another siding, although this has led to me being concerned that you'll be able to see a bit more into the fiddle yard so nothing will be fixed down yet until I see how it looks. Here's a shot of progress so far, it's all held with masking tape at the moment. Ignore the marker pen on the baseboard, it was from a previous plan. Cheers Wayne
  19. I know it's been a long time, but did you ever finish these? Cheers Wayne
  20. While on the subject of finishing SPA wagons here's a one off addition to the rake. This is 460433 which was repainted into railfreight metals livery in 1990, it didn't look like this long as around 1992 it became a ZCA Sea Hare for the engineers. The model is a Cambrian kit which has been fitted with sprung axle guards and replacement leaf springs and axle boxes, just couplings and air pipes to fit now. It's based on a photo which was in Rail Express magazine No 259 which included their bumper railfreight sector modelling issue. Cheers Wayne
  21. Hi Nick, I wouldn't say your truck is too long, one of coachman's photo's shows an articulated truck as you can just make out the rear wheel of the tractor unit. Cheers Wayne
  22. Nice work. Nice to see another modeller using the dining table, here's my effort... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/88129-waynes-workbench-wagon-bashing-locos-and-other-stuff/?p=2718893 It's since been cleaned up a little since the photo as unfinished projects are slowly ticked off the list. Cheers Wayne
  23. Just a quick update the SPAs have been weathered and are on the home stretch now apart from fitting couplings, it will be good to finally tick these off the list. It's only a short cut of wagons but why does everything take so long? After that will be a couple of vans and hopefully finally finishing off the 80 ton bogie clay tiger! Will have some pics later. Cheers Wayne
  24. Just come across this, some nice work on here. Look forward to more. Cheers Wayne
  25. Rob, Sheep Lane/Mutton needs this.... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/67-how-realistic-are-your-models-photo-challenge/?p=3242218 Cheers Wayne
