  1. The fire engine looks good. Some etched brass ladders need I think. At least one coming to Kensington Olympia.
  2. Ah Kevin......he has quite a repertoire. Lots of different minions phrases and a selection of fart noises!
  3. Some up to date pictures of the whole layout and room.
  4. Some spare time this afternoon and I got a second loop installed and attached to the DCC bus, two train running!! One interesting fault has come to light. One cross over on the outer loop works fine. The crossover from the inner loop to the outer loop causes a short. Not sure why yet. Both have insulating fishplates between them, but the curved ones don’t have any insulated joiners on the other rail that connects to the frog. This crossover works fine insulated joiners on the two rails that connect and the the two inner straight rails. On the lower picture the crossover doesn’t have an insulated joiners on the inner ‘straight’ rails, which I suspect is the problem.
  5. Thanks John, it should be enough to entertain the guests! Sound fitted class 40 on a freight and probably a class 47 on a Motorail.
  6. Been a busy week.....finished the Scottish Region book and this was sent off to the publishers. To celebrate I found a Scottish beer in our local off license. Lia Fail from the Inveralmond Brewery. Very nice it was too. As we are having visitors next weekend, a belated housewarming / significant birthday for me, I thought it was about time I actually did some work on Olympia. This morning I cleaned the baseboards of detritus. This afternoon the baseboards were levelled and clamped up, some still need bolt holes drilling. For the guests entertainment I thought I’d try and get something running. The DCC bus was extended right around the layout, temporary baseboard jumpers installed. A temporary track was laid to attach at each end of Olympia. Droppers dropped and attached, each board tested one at a time until I had a complete working loop. The class 40 was set off with a coach and has now run for an hour propelling the coach without falling off. Nice!
  7. What youchoos chip have you all been using?
  8. Great stuff, thank you very much. Looks like its called Glean viaduct. A lot of first class in the train?
  9. A recently acquired transparency is marked as 27111 and 27117 at Graigendoran.......the only place I can find is the similar but very incorrect Craigendoran. Can anyone nail the location please....its a very interesting train with a former Mk1 Pullman and a Gresley Buffet car in the formation. Could be the Highland line or the West Highland line. 26th April 1975 its dated. Nothing in the sixbells or Railgen websites. TIA
  10. Class 313041 at Finsbury Park complete with headcode displayed. https://zenfolio.page.link/BfSy5
  11. Had this to read on our flight to Canada this week, excellent stuff especially the Kent Coal article.
  12. Currently away on our Hols so no progress. We are where the Red Arrows ( bus related! ) are flying on Thursday 26/9.
  13. Congratulations John. I thought I did well to last 37 and a bit years.
  14. Yes they are Diecast, the other option would be to use the white metal RM kit they you’ve posted photos of.
  15. I’m going to chop a pair of ODC RMs to make an RML. Has anyone already done this? Any suggestions or hints? I was going to use a mini drill cutting disc to do the surgery.
  16. Mmm looks like you’ll have your work cut out Grahame. I’ve just managed to acquire a second Cars Workshop DMS, and have a couple of BT Atlanteans to convert to another Metrobus. Shame as the 3D printed Titan would have useful.
  17. I’ve found other photos at Rannoch that include the caravan and also the power cable masts. Thank you.
  18. Your mission should you choose to accept it....etc etc.......... This slide is marked Crianlarich and undated. I have a feeling in my sporran its elsewhere. Any ideas please. The power cable run and green posts are clues. Many thanks
  19. Two foot wide.....maybe walk crab like!.....or fit a traverser on the floor!
  20. I found that fitting a desk into the layout room would have been a bit of a squeeze, so as the layout design wasn’t set in stone I have removed a baseboard. The layout is now 10 x 6ft....still big enough. The approaches to Olympia will need remodelling at both ends however. Redundant track has already been lifted. A few pictures of the room.
  21. Great looking Model.....I have the ESSO ones too.....will be added to the 15 or so TTAs that I have mainly debranded.....including 6 I picked up for about £30 just a year or so ago.
  22. I saw the return working pass our garden this afternoon, an unbranded TPE class 803 went the other way a few mins later. The 803 was very quiet.
  23. This Saturday Brighton MRC will be having one of its infrequent sales days. There will be a large selection of used models mainly in OO from all the Major manufacturers, Locos, coaches, wagons and probably track too. At the same time if you are interested in joining the club or just finding out more information it will be the chance to chat to club members, see the facilities and what we do. 1000 to 1400ish London Road Railway Station Shaftesbury Place Ditchling Rise Brighton BN1 4QS
