  1. I'm assuming that the power cars must be standalone vehicles rather than part of an EMU, in the same way the Swiss often had single power units, sometimes with only one cab, that work with other power cars, hauled stock and driving trailers or even locos. Oh, for standard couplers and control systems... I think the running number is on the blue stripe at the bottom, in the middle of the vehicle. Edit: Dunno why I didn't google before, anyway https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NMBS/SNCB_M7_railcar It seems the power cars are Bmx!
  2. Shades of the BR mk3 based EMU design here Mixed stock happens in the US a lot too Created: Taken on 30 May 2017 Updated: 2020-09-06 02:38:11 License: CC BY-SA 4.0 Credit: Own work | Pi.1415926535 Usage terms:Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0
  3. And then the Greeat war decimated horse numbers and such incidents became less frequent... 😇
  4. Is it just me or is the DB logo on the side wonky?
  5. Ecublens, Vaud, Switzerland to be more precise. Quite where in Ecublens I'm not sure, there are mutiple stations, yards and junctions inthe greater area. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ecublens,+Switzerland/@46.5286182,6.5424166,6034m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x478c31052cbee56f:0x400ff8840198520!8m2!3d46.5296363!4d6.5615252!16zL20vMDJ2NnEy?entry=ttu Possibly on the Lausanne M1 metro line where the track doubles at stations. There are level crossings at many of them, ideal for taking a photo at that angle. My guess is here , but there is no StreetView.
  6. Or standing on the platform as an open door comes towards them!
  7. I'm toying with the idea of calling my putative model layout of Lawrence Mass 'Immigrant City'
  8. I’m curious, I assume it’s standard design steam loco with a round boiler, rather than something strange like a Sentinal or a tram engine? If so I’m not sure how you get the chimney upside down!

  10. I quite like the look with the end platforms.

  12. Nowadays, having lived in Chesterfield and working in Sheffield for 20ish years, seeing an electric train is a novelty. I was recently at Doncaster and having trains in the platform and still being able to hear the announcements was a shock
  13. How dare, you. Discworld is very real* *in many people's heads
  14. What about models of railways in places that never had them, or places that never actually existed?
  15. One thing not mentioned is that its quite interesting to see models of British railways, but built by foreigners. It can go both ways, producing an idealised UK, or noticing the things we miss even though we see them every day.
  16. Thanks all. Apologies for the complete mess of the spelling in the OP. I posted it, noticed I’d made a complete hash of it, pressed edit and RMWeb went offline
  17. I recently bought a loco from a US manufacturer who I'll not name as it isn't relevant. I paid £54 in VAT and fee to recieve it. However it seems that there is some sort of DCC chip/motherboard/wiring/motor issue. They have siad t send it back to them to fix. What is the situation with VAT etc when it is sent back to me? I shouldn't have to pay it again (and thus there should be no fees for processing it), but how should the parcel be marked?
  18. You mean large posteriors won't fit through the hatch?
  19. The obvious answer is to keep the nameplates and build the body to match...
  20. Thought for a minute you were suggesting building an F-Unit on the chassis... (in Soo paint, obvs)
  21. Going back a bit in the thread.
