I've never exhibited a layout of my own at an exhibition, but I did take a freemo module to a meet. While it wasn't a public event, mine was a junction in the middle of a setup, so there was quite a lot of pressure that it worked. The disavantage of a module is that although it was small enough to set up at home, without other modules you can't really test it properly and you have no control over the stock that runs on it. Thankfully it worked well, @PaulRhB kindly widened a couple of rail gaps between wiring section that were looking a bit close with his Dremel before we started and only one item of stock appeared to dislike one of the points.

Of course, if MR had continued, MRJ might not have happened, or happened later. Iain Rice wasn't the only one involved with MRJ, but he was a bigpart of it at the beginning. If he was still happy writing for another magazine, there would have been less impetus

I'm not sure sales did increase, Your Model Railway didn' t last long. I love that whole scene, those Mainline hoppers give me a strong sense of modeling nostaliga and the idea of having a boxcab as a works shunter is inspired

Manchester to Sheffield on a snowy winter's night on a 3+2 bus bench 142 with no heating Obviously any unit with no heating would have been unpleasant, but other units would have had better seats, fewer draughts and a smoother ride. I equate the preserved experience to travelling on the Midland Rail Centre's 19th century train, interesting, but not nice (and with worse craftsmanship)

As an example, I think the people who have to prove they are missing a limb every year probably have a cause to find it a bit degrading.

When we moved into our house, we discovered our next door neighbour was doing this. Apparently she'd had some plumbing mishap in the house a few years before and just upped and left it. As it happens my parent had met her before, when they stayed int he same guesthouse while visiting us.

Surel they should get upgraded/rebuilt before they become overwhelmed?
