  1. I like to think I'm a good bod in IT, but I would have no idea how to do that. Not all IT people are data analysts/programmers However I can see that this is only easy to do for tickets for a designated train. But many/most tickets aren't.
  2. To be fair, if the other end of the fibre is down due to power issues, then chances are a traditional exchange would be down too
  3. Would Red Rum be named Mur Der on the other side?
  4. The images in the thread that are (I think) hosted on your blog, seem to be be missing at the moment Edit, Please ignore, its my web filter
  5. In that post the first small pic shows an H0 BR01 next to the H0 Märklin Scotsman. The second pic shows the H0 01 next to an 00 Scotman. I must admit the first time I looked I missed the small pic!
  6. A Sm (1:64 scale metre gauge) narrow gauge parcels brake with influences from the South Australia Railways 8300 class. Built from a cheap Chinese AliExpress coach The primer coat has highlighted some bits that need tidying up, then it needs a nice 1970s refurb style paint scheme
  7. I was tempted to suggest H0 as the answer to the question "00 too big and N too small?"... I greatly enjoyed operating the layout and it did settle down to run nicely once Andy had lifted the entire sector plate with stock on it off (twice) to make adjustments. I'll admit my heart was in my mouth while he did it! Perhaps the layout needs a sharing bowl of Hershey's kisses out front...
  8. Can't believe I've read the whole thread and found no mention of stay-alives.
  9. There’s always more elderly in the pipeline, although that fact seems to confuse people that start ‘death of the hobby’ threads
  10. I don'tget why its always the elderly who are quoted as being unable to use smartphones. They've been around at least 20 years , so the elderly have had far longer to get their heads round them than my 12 year old son. And he's also had to learn how to eat solid food, crawl, walk, talk and read in that time.
  11. I wonder how Stagecoach feel about a train obviously in their colours being involved in an incident that is nothing to do with them?
  12. If it was locked you wouldn't have been able to correct that...
  13. Chesterfield supports not only a GW shop, but also an independant shop that does a bit of figures/gaming and also as a venue for RPGs. My son fequesnt the indie shop mainly, they gave us some good tips on buying a 3D printer recently.
  14. Why would DRS not wan tpassenger contracts? In theory they are nice steady long term income stream? Getting rid of 37 means that they can't provide loco's with the 37 RA. Maybe there's not enough need for that for them to be worth keeping, but if so they could have got rid of them before. I'm sure I've read that DRS only have long leases (from Beacon?) on some of the 68s, if so in theory they could hand some surplus ones back
  15. On many lines weekends are now busier than weekdays, so doing engineering weekdays is the lesser of two evils
  16. As per the screenshot, the advert at the bottom covers the downwards arrow to take me to the new post.
  17. All those diamonds and they are hidden! I like the concept of this layout, and the way it has several different scenic sections
  18. There's nothing intrinsicly not finescale about using wood, after all for a wooden bodied coach its actually more accurate than plastic or brass. The late Joe Rowe very fine grained veneer for the body panels of his Gresly coaches. These were both fine modelling and fine engineering. Unfortunatly photo seem to be a bit lacking on the web. @Tony Wright mentions here that he took some, perhaps he could be persuaded to dig them out and post them.
  19. Blue and grey in Mexico https://twitter.com/mr_w_snapper/status/1703687430673453203?s=46 edit: I thought the forum embedded Twitter posts?
  20. Now I need to get a centerbeam flat to see if a couple of Tunnock's wafer will fit on each side. I suspect they are more S scale
