  1. Is there likely to be enough space to fit P4 or EM wheelsets? I'm also wondering what diameter axles have been specified? I think there's a suitable driving wheel in the Alan Gibson range but I could well be mistaken
  2. Thanks, that confirms my thinking that it was the oldest one there. Is there much difference to an earlier cab?
  3. Is there a particular version suitable (to be modified/repainted if needed) that is suitable for a period around 1900-1920? I'm referring more to the cab/tank variations than the liveries as it looks (to me having a quick read) like they are mostly 1950s onwards
  4. From what I can recall, there's a drawing of the "official" way of building a crossing in the WDLR Album I think it has a rail added either side of each running rail (like a check rail on the inside and outside) with planks in the gap On our 7mm layout we've put in a planked crossing (installed before the book was published) without check rails, as there's no guarantee that they built exactly to the plans, as said above its more than likely that whatever was to hand was used
  5. Digitrains? http://www.digitrains.co.uk/ecommerce/accessory-decoders/stall-motor-only/ Edit: or coastal DCC They look to be in stock with either
  6. There's a drawing of Driffield goods shed in North Eastern Record volume 1, although finding a copy might take a while as it's been out of print a long time
  7. There might be a drawing amongst these http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/33695-industrial-loco-drawings/
  8. Thanks, That would be very useful if you could please Regards Mike
  9. Thanks Paul. I took an educated guess at volume 2 which arrived today, there's a drawing in there of Knitsley station which the others were based on.
  10. I've now got a 1.0 litre petrol focus and the fuel economy and power are reasonably comparable to the 1.8 diesel focus I had a couple of cars previously. All depends on how you drive it and the terrain you navigate I suppose True you do have to thrash it a bit to get going but it cruises at 60-70 well enough. As said above go for a test drive and see what you think. My other half has a fiesta with a normally aspirated 1.25 litre engine (I think) and that really is gutless
  11. I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of drawings for one of the Thomas Prosser station buildings built for the NER? The type I'm looking for is like Goathland, Danby, Lealholm, Glaisdale and Egton stations. (As made recently in OO by Hornby and Bachmann through TMC) I'm hoping there's something in one of the NERA history of NER architecture books but I'd rather know before buying one of them (I think maybe volume 2?) Otherwise if anyone knows of another source of a drawing I'd be very grateful. I'm planning a fictional station which may need dimensions adjusting to suit available space, (or be half relief) but the style of architecture is key to the line. Ideally looking for 4mm scale drawings but that's not crucial if there are dimensions. Thanks for looking Mike
  12. More Heljan 26's announced http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/125592-Heljan-announce-further-batch-of-oo-gauge-class-26s/
  13. Have you tried Phoenix directly? The colours are still listed on their website https://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/products/search/technical
  14. It does appear that their website is down at the moment See here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/85210-high-level-kits/page-1
  15. I think the thread was this one http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/102267-manning-wardle-wheels/ I hope it's some help
  16. Your best bet might be to find a p4 tire the correct size and get a new centre 3D printed, I'm sure there's a thread somewhere about it
  17. We'll be taking the layout to Redcar show on 5th/6th August, hopefully with a few more things finished off http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/124015-redcar-model-rail-show/
  18. Simplex between duties earlier today You can see this and much more at Goathland show tomorrow http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123049-goathland-2017-22nd-23rd-july/
  19. There appears to be 3 solder connections next to the USB marked V+, V- and trig, so the 5-30V source would connect there (assuming you meant the second link John provided)
  20. Another vote for the WDLR Album, it's been really helpful with our 7mm layout There's also these 3 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Narrow-Gauge-War-Keith-Taylorson/dp/0951110810 https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Narrow-Gauge-at-War-v-Keith-Taylorson/1871980291 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Narrow-Gauge-War-Light-Track-x/dp/1871980402 Before the WDLR Album (and some of the others mentioned) were published recently there wasn't much else available on the subject Edit - there's also this book, which contains a fair bit of background material https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0715341081/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1499927712&sr=1-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&dpPl=1&dpID=41xcBIDmbjL&ref=plSrch If you're looking for information specifically on the Baldwin locos this book covers them in detail, including after the war https://www.amazon.co.uk/Over-Here-Baldwin-Military-Locomotives-x/dp/B001QVHN66
  21. Simplex progress I rediscovered my part built Nigel Lawton 20hp Simplex recently and figured it would be a fairly quick job to get it running for the layout's next outing in a few weeks The addition of pickups that act directly on the track has transformed the running qualities and it happily pottered around the club test track earlier this week Recent work has seen the addition of the radiator which just needs pipework to finish, it also needs a second coupling adding and the paintwork (and driver) finishing off. It can just about move 2 wrightlines D class wagons and can happily move one (like the real thing)
  22. Would the allied markings (or the whole tank) be covered over on the Panthers while in German territory?
  23. Captured Equipment (part 1) We're about 6 weeks from our next outing with Ferme du Pont and long overdue an update Currently on the workbench is a German Brigadewagen from a Locos n Stuff kit There's still 3 door catches to fit, then brake rigging and couplings. Perhaps not the most useful wagon for us but it will be joined one day (much later) by a German Brigadelok (which is towards the bottom of a very big kit pile....) Next up will be finishing off a handful of B class wagons and a couple of D's and F's. We also need lots of wagon loads, one for the F class wagons being track panels like this
  24. Hi Dave, I don't think you were on the list but you are now Thanks for the interest Cheers Mike
