  1. Hi, I love the sight and sound of rail grinding in the hours of darkness Of course safety is always an issue and those hard hats can come in handy if, for example, the barriers are repeatedly activated and you find yourself under one as you wait to board the track machine... Regards, Gerry.
  2. Hi, If I filled in the website pdf order form correctly I should now have one on order. Regards, Gerry.
  3. Hi, Oh my! Me and my teddy bear... I had thought we'd maybe see this from another but delighted I can now add a Minerva to the roster. Regards, Gerry.

  7. Hi, Ben A stated on the N Gauge Forum on 02/04/19: I spend far more time than I should looking at the video postings (including US Railroad manifests to try and learn those too!) and, as with Dave's post above, there's plenty tucked away in general freight YouTubes. Regards, Gerry.
  8. Hi, Deposits - thankfully, my but it soon adds up - paid. I've been studying YouTube for combinations so was prepared for once... Regards, Gerry.

  10. Hi, I'd certainly have some KBA barrier wagons in N, the layout needs to move some underground stock on an unlikely regular basis. If I recall correctly the grot-liveried not so Silver Bullets were based on samples commissioned from Mercig and look pretty good to my eyes. Regards, Gerry.
  11. Hi, Not another electric to justify on a drag around the layout! It's starting to look like I plan for both third rail and overhead... Regards, Gerry.
  12. Hi, Also mentioned very briefly in the March '19 Railway Modeller, subscription copy arrived today: Regards, Gerry.

  15. Hi, Just opened my subscription Model Rail 258 March edition on page 6, looks like they've jumped the gun just a little... Regards, Gerry.
  16. Hi, As soon as Dave initiated the current system of deposits I have been perfectly comfortable to immediately pay initial deposits for two Kings, given his history in his time with Dapol products and subsequently producing items under his own business in OO I continue to be entirely confident that he does indeed know what he is doing. I have seen nothing of any substansive merit for me to have any doubts about what he is trying to achieve or his ability to bring it to a conclusion on a par with the current standards expected. Regards, Gerry.
  17. Hi, Class 14 just has to be done, as with the Class 07 - both very much needed in O rtr. Regards, Gerry.
  18. Hi, Timely reminder on the NGS website: http://newweb.ngaugesociety.com/?p=2187 Regards, Gerry.
  19. Hi Andy and welcome, I think it best to be realistic about what you can do with the space available, your skill level, and what you would most like to achieve. Limited space with a desire to see trains running that "pleases the eye" is as good a justification as you'll ever need. The add-on detailing is nice to have, modellers often like to take and post pretty pictures of their detailing skills, but it's not a prerequisite for enjoying the hobby. Although there are fine examples of super detailed models running on super detailed layouts which should always inspire, but sometimes it can make a beginner feel disillusioned, with N you can treat it as an 'impressionist' scale so if there is a limit you perceive in your ability to match those finer examples for now I wouldn't worry so much - it's meant to be enjoyable. I'd suggest that if allow yourself to you gain experience and skills as you progress, you could return later to aspects of your layout to enhance/upgrade what you have already achieved - and you'll have had the fun element from the outset. Regards, Gerry.
  20. Hi, Some nice Kingsway Models modern stuff if you've not seen them, might be adaptable? http://www.kingswaymodels.com/page32.htm Depending on developers, the newer commercial units could be stripped in below much earlier upper facades. Regards, Gerry.
  21. Hi, I would be very surprised that anyone would insist on paying that figure when, to give one example, Hattons are currently offering that specification of model at £169.96: https://www.hattons.co.uk/424166/Dapol_2S_034_001_Class_7P6F_Streamlined_Battle_of_Britain_4_6_2_21C164_Fighter_Command_in_SR_mala/StockDetail.aspx That figure is still quite an eye-opener in itself and, as I mentioned in an earlier post, means I'll no longer look at ordering additional examples "almost by default" as has happened in the past. It is probably for many of us in part due to price levels in the recent past few years having given us a period of exceptional value for money that the shock is hitting home, but we were warned about this eventuality quite some time ago. Looking at prices of similar new steam locomotives, both UK prototype/supplier and overseas, I expect we are seeing a norm and we will have to decide at what level each of us individually can continue to buy in the numbers we once perhaps took for granted. It may be a case for some of us cutting back on the indulgences, or looking to the second hand sources before demand pushes those prices higher. I would certainly like at least another name/livery example, but I think that may only happen for me if bigger discounts become available once the initial period of introduction passes. If it doesn't, it doesn't... Regards, Gerry.
  22. Hi, Existing topic here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/131020-so-how-about-a-class-88-Dapol/?p=3153940 Regards, Gerry.
