  1. Hi Module00, The signal from Dapol is similar but not the same as the one in the photo. The Dapol one is a supposedly a BR standard tubular post signal. Thanks
  2. Hi all, More info found.... 'N&W MP Dept. Data Book No. I from the 1950's shows Class XO Business Car No. 100 built 1911 at a cost of $38,162.55 by Pullman' This did not become D&H 100 - however it appears to have the same origins as N&W 102 which became D&H 100. More as I keep digging! I have to thank some of the guys on the Guilford Yahoo groups for assistance with the photos and information. What next?
  3. Hi All, Still have to work out what model to use as a basis for ST100 As Adrian pointed out the roof profile is different. So far - not found a model with the right roof profile. Link to gallery of photos of ST100 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/rspicture.aspx?id=8936 Still to start the drawings for this one - really need to find a model with the right roof profile as this sets the top height for the artwork. Thanks
  4. Hi all, As I said above - I already decided on the base model for one of the cars. This will be ST101 which will be based on the following model. Walthers Pullman-Standard 52-Seat Coach - Assembled This is/was available in both HO and N .(Please note - photo is the N Gauge model Gallery of photos of ST101 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/rspicture.aspx?id=161731 First stage of artwork has been started - just need to adjust the images to correct some distortion. Thanks
  5. Hi Adrian, Thanks for the response - I have noticed the different roof profiles, so I bought the standard pullman after that discovery! Yes - I have followed the search trail to find the cars in their previous incarnations and have collected a fair number of photos that way. The 6 wheel bogies are for the heavyweight car that I've yet to make a decision on base model for. I have the article from Model Railroader about converting one to the Conrail No 5 - Boston. It was published about 3 months after I bought the almost identical Walthers car that was used as a basis in the article. Most of what was written applies to the conversion I will be doing - good basis as a starter! Thanks
  6. As you may know from other threads I am modeling Guilford during the 1985 to start of 'Blue Dip' paint period. Having had some help identifying the coaches in the business train - I'm now about to get on with the modelling. It's already been suggested that I start with the Walthers Pullman Standard cars as a carcase and that's what I am doing. Given my past experience in producing artwork for vinyl or decal overlays - Caledonian Sleeper day coaches - I'm intending to do the same for both ST100 and ST101 in Guilford Grey/Crimson stripe. I will have the option for these to be in 'Blue Dip' as well at some point in the future. So - what am I trying to create:- Some links:- 1990 style - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5zGDlyeulQ Currnet - Blue Dip style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwpTBp5RdrY ST100 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1785845 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2974637 ST101 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1795486 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2974637 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2974622 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2974632 Ideally I need some photos that have been taken showing the full length coach sides that are square on to minimise the distortion of both sides, both coaches, Anyone able to help with photos? Even 'Blue Dip' photos will help to correctly layout the coach sides etc. What have I got so far? I have one coach and need another - but not at the current ebay/retailer prices! I have a set of correct brass 6 wheel bogies. Yes - I know the coaches have been available from River Point - but I'm not able/willing to pay that sort of money! Thanks

  10. Hi Mike, Is that correct? One of the locals that sends me photos etc for rail operations said the brewery isn't rail served but all the distribution goes via the Farrell Distribution Centre a bit further north for the brewery? Search Google Maps using 3 Holmes Rd, South Burlington, VT 05403, USA https://www.google.com/maps/place/3+Holmes+Rd/@44.433463,-73.212411,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x4cca7b8b7d83d17d:0xc2dcb6416f2d8858?hl=en Thanks
  11. Hi pH, if one was cynical and in the UK.. You might think they were enhancing the property in order to get maximum sale value from a compulsory purchase by the town/city/state... Or you could be the optimist and say this was preparation for reintroduction of train service. Thanks
  12. Hi all, The trick is... Deep pockets and short arms.... We shall see what happens! Thanks
  13. Don't worry... It won't be too bad - most people up here understand Charlie. The resident population of 1/2 Yorkshire and 1/2 Scottish will be standing by to deal with any translation problems! Thanks
  14. Cement works.... Loads of these in NE of America! Lafarge North America 541 Leominster Shirley Rd Lunenburg, MA 01462 Rail served - rail access is to north of the address location on Google maps Dragon Products Co U.S. Route 1 Thomaston, ME 04861 Rail served - very busy location. Keystone Cement Co 6507 Nor Bath Blvd Bath, PA 18014 Another rail served location. Hope these give some ideas!
  15. Hi Ray, There are several options and choices for you.... For Windows http://home.cogeco.ca/~trains/rrsoft.htm http://www.tslrr.com/frtmgr.htm http://www.deepsoft.com/home/products/modelrailroadsystem/ For MAC http://www.vasonabranch.com/railroad/switchlist.html Happy browsing!
  16. Hi PHG, That's great - Just need to find more with the other side as well. Another photo added to the 6300 file! Thanks
  17. We know....... Or at least some of us do!
  18. I did say 'Add your decoder of choice'.... Thereby leaving it to the individual to decide. Your choice is different to mine - that's all. Anyway, next on my DCC workbench? Trackmobile in HO - Not the plastic one though.. Thanks
  19. Hi Karl, I was also worried about getting into the thing without breaking it.... Managed without any problems or breakages. As for fitting the decoder.. Forget the Hornby special decoder and go for hardwiring your favorite choice. Yes - you will need to carve up the inside moulding to do this - but it is easy to cover up, Just add crew and add an open newspaper. Thanks Thanks
  20. Hi all, The constant change in how DCC decoders can be connected to a loco is one of the most annoying things about the whole DCC or DC question. Why cant the standards be more constant/consistant? If all decoders had a connector built onto the circuit board - something along the lines of the JST socket on the Lenz Gold and some sound decoders - that at least would be a start. At present I'm hard wiring all my UK locos to have this as a standard - then buy the decoders as I can afford to. Just a thought.... Thanks
  21. Hi Chris, I can't believe it! Another Guilford GP40 numbered as 370. Ah well - will see if I can make time to renumber mine. Thanks
  22. Hi all, A search on YouTube finds videos showing how you can install most varieties of Sound Decoders in a variety of locos. Whilst these are useful - some do miss small details that can make the difference between a working decoder and a cooked decoder. Fortunately I didn't make the mistake of just doing as the video shows. I benefit from having DecoderPro and Sprog available for checks prior to putting anything near DCC full power! Thanks
  23. Hi Phil, There is a drop in sound board for the Atlas GP40-2 available from Soundtraxx. It only takes 10 minutes to install the decoder then you need to find a home for the speaker. I've changed the normal Soundtraxx speaker to a sugar cube one which fits into the cab. You will also need to replace the lights as there is no room for the supplied lighting fittings. I'm currently working on some new lighting boards to replace these but, due to other commitments, it's not progressing very quickly. Thanks
  24. Hi Chris, I do have an Intermountain U18B as well and it's sound fitted Something else to put in the pile to take to the show! Thanks
