  1. Hoy! Whats this! Who said you could finish early? You should be available till at least 5pm Anyway - thanks for the continued great service! Order on the way...
  2. Hi Jon, I have all the drawings that were on the Trancereals site and I think it included the UK gauge wagons. Will have a look and see if I can tell which are which - when the site was up it had descriptions which included area of use. Thanks
  3. Hi all, Having worked on this loco in my youth - I've been trying to keep track of her. At present she is on loan to Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway - or at least she was when I was last down before summer. Thanks
  4. Hi Paul, I also have the start of a chassis that I think is 4mm too wide - still to be proven right or wrong though! I spent a couple of hours last night searching continental wagon sites to see if I could find the drawings. Thanks
  5. Hi Jon, I thought we found drawings for this one? I seem to remember they were on a continental site but don't have a link any more. Thanks
  6. Hi all, This is a really interesting and useful topic! Thanks for all the input so far - please feel free to carry on... Now, I suppose I have to get on with the part built PAA BRTE that I got as far as making formers for - then stopped as I was struggling to get the plasticard skin to stick to without deforming. Thanks
  7. Hi Mal, You could be right with the date - it ties in with my memories. I was working out of Fort William for the whole summer in 1984 and was in and out of the station almost every day. That is - between pick up's and deliveries! Thanks
  8. Hi Andrew, Certainly looks like it is... Mal - any clue for the date of the shot? Thanks
  9. Hi Peter, Speak to Charlie at DCC Kits and see about getting the Loksound V4 with Legomanbiffo's latest sounds - all the sound projects have now been updated and improved for the V4 and there is a great difference in the quality. Charlie will also be able to tell you about his latest Class 26 speaker project which includes a resin cast replacement for the fuel tank and battery box with speaker. Saves all the carving of the existing fuel tank and battery box and sounds awesome!. Thanks
  10. HI John, Looks good.... Reminds me of the detail work we used to do for customers that asked for a better model when it was released. So - that's over 30 years ago! Times fly in this hobby. Thanks for recreating - for me at least, a retrospective model. ps - the out of box Lima at the time was £3.95 - we did all the work and resprayed them for sale at £21.99!
  11. Hi all, Agreed - walking round Ashington could be like a Wagonphiles best dream! Wagons ranged from ex NE hoppers to modern HEA hoppers with a wide variety spanning the ages between these wagon designs. How many varieties of the ubiquitous 16t Mineral Wagon would you want to see? Nearly everything that had either bottom or end doors including ex LNER, ex LMS and ex MOD ones! Still loads of ex PO wooden bodied wagons as well. Such things are memories, things to be shared..... Just a shame I only had an Instamatic 126 camera at the time! Thanks
  12. I know the feeling... Having just gone through all the US stock... I realised that I have a load to repaint/patch paint/Renumber/redata or do the full job of repaint on. Then there is the older stuff.... Do I just clear out all of the older stuff that I first started on, or do I just accept that it's yard filler and not for running? Such hard questions are raised! Thanks Or should I just sell them?
  13. Hi Barry, Yes - you have to be a member to download the wallpaper. Friends can always help though! Thanks
  14. HI all, The one at Boness was originally purchased to become a crane runner. Details on Vintage Carriage Trust website http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=789 Thanks
  15. Hi all, A follow up to my previous postings… As I said, I have experienced the process and thoughts that is gone through when deciding about following a particular standard. In particular with freemo – we went through a painful and extended process that got the group I was in totally disheartened from being very interested. In the end – the group broke up as it wasn’t possible to work with the freemo standards as they were/are. It seemed that every time we came up with a change that we felt was needed to either improve the operation of or the standards themselves – we hit a brick wall. One of the things we wanted to change was for curved boards to incorporate a degree of transition from the straight modules into the curve sections. As part of this we would have needed to increase the track spacing at the board ends and into the curves to allow for longer stock and for improved visual looks when using them. We came to grief over this as we were met with a blanket response of ‘no you can’t do that – you have the standards and you just need to work within them’. This was the point at which we just gave up on the idea and moved onto other things. As per my recent response – Scottish Modellers are now looking to establish a set of standards for our current and future layouts. If anyone is interested I can post up the initial ideas we had about this - on a seperate thread so as not to hijack this one. Thanks
  16. Hi all, I'm sure that more than just Andy realised that this subject would be contentious- certainly I did. Even within a small group - agreeing standards can be a problem. This happens even when members agree in principal to the need for standards and agree that existing standards need to be improved. I can give a specific instance of this situation. Scottish Modellers all agreed that we would need a set of standards for layout boards so that we could avoid the repetative expenses caused by having to build a fiddleyard to fit each layout. So - we all agreed with the principal that we needed to agree a standard for the fiddleyard - specifically the end profile and track spacing where the fiddleyard boards join up to the layouts. However - we have not been able to come up with a set of standards acceptable to all of us. The end result is that the fiddleyard boards used for the first of our layouts are likely to become the standard. But - some of us still disagree with this. Thanks

  18. Hi Module00, It is possible to use kits to make the correct signal. However, I have a feeling that you don't want to do things this way. The Dapol signal is probably the nearest thing available ready to use and is an operating one. Thanks
  19. Hi Module00, The signal from Dapol is similar but not the same as the one in the photo. The Dapol one is a supposedly a BR standard tubular post signal. Thanks
  20. Hi all, More info found.... 'N&W MP Dept. Data Book No. I from the 1950's shows Class XO Business Car No. 100 built 1911 at a cost of $38,162.55 by Pullman' This did not become D&H 100 - however it appears to have the same origins as N&W 102 which became D&H 100. More as I keep digging! I have to thank some of the guys on the Guilford Yahoo groups for assistance with the photos and information. What next?
  21. Hi All, Still have to work out what model to use as a basis for ST100 As Adrian pointed out the roof profile is different. So far - not found a model with the right roof profile. Link to gallery of photos of ST100 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/rspicture.aspx?id=8936 Still to start the drawings for this one - really need to find a model with the right roof profile as this sets the top height for the artwork. Thanks
  22. Hi all, As I said above - I already decided on the base model for one of the cars. This will be ST101 which will be based on the following model. Walthers Pullman-Standard 52-Seat Coach - Assembled This is/was available in both HO and N .(Please note - photo is the N Gauge model Gallery of photos of ST101 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/rspicture.aspx?id=161731 First stage of artwork has been started - just need to adjust the images to correct some distortion. Thanks
  23. Hi Adrian, Thanks for the response - I have noticed the different roof profiles, so I bought the standard pullman after that discovery! Yes - I have followed the search trail to find the cars in their previous incarnations and have collected a fair number of photos that way. The 6 wheel bogies are for the heavyweight car that I've yet to make a decision on base model for. I have the article from Model Railroader about converting one to the Conrail No 5 - Boston. It was published about 3 months after I bought the almost identical Walthers car that was used as a basis in the article. Most of what was written applies to the conversion I will be doing - good basis as a starter! Thanks
  24. As you may know from other threads I am modeling Guilford during the 1985 to start of 'Blue Dip' paint period. Having had some help identifying the coaches in the business train - I'm now about to get on with the modelling. It's already been suggested that I start with the Walthers Pullman Standard cars as a carcase and that's what I am doing. Given my past experience in producing artwork for vinyl or decal overlays - Caledonian Sleeper day coaches - I'm intending to do the same for both ST100 and ST101 in Guilford Grey/Crimson stripe. I will have the option for these to be in 'Blue Dip' as well at some point in the future. So - what am I trying to create:- Some links:- 1990 style - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5zGDlyeulQ Currnet - Blue Dip style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwpTBp5RdrY ST100 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1785845 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2974637 ST101 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1795486 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2974637 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2974622 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2974632 Ideally I need some photos that have been taken showing the full length coach sides that are square on to minimise the distortion of both sides, both coaches, Anyone able to help with photos? Even 'Blue Dip' photos will help to correctly layout the coach sides etc. What have I got so far? I have one coach and need another - but not at the current ebay/retailer prices! I have a set of correct brass 6 wheel bogies. Yes - I know the coaches have been available from River Point - but I'm not able/willing to pay that sort of money! Thanks
