  1. Hi Matt I didn’t think I’d seen you ‘liking’ or commenting here yet. I haven’t thought too much further than the tunnel and cliffs yet but as you’ve seen the original low relief warehouse is still around, so it’s possible. Funny you should mention the request, I only thought about recreating it again the other afternoon, maybe one for the next vid.
  2. Hi Pete thanks for your comments I’ll take a look at the points when I get a chance. The videos are uploaded to my YT account and then linked to the thread so are not uploaded to RMweb as such.
  3. Thanks Andy. I’ll probably leave off doing anymore until I’ve moved forward with the scenics and shuffled the stock a bit, they’re all getting a bit repetitive!
  4. Evening all As the last video selection seemed to be well received I've compiled another mix of footage from the Exford Railcams over the last couple of days.
  5. Thanks Rob, you'd be welcome to come over to play again when you're feeling brave enough or restrictions are lifted (whichever comes first)!
  6. Hi fella The spiral thingy just gives more height between the top level and FY by the trains making one circle gaining/losing about 3” on the way up or down. Hopefully the vid below makes things clearer.
  7. Hi Melly TBH I’ve not run them enough to comment really but they made it down the spiral and slopes to the FY ok so far. They seem to trip up on one board joint that I need to work out why, as everything else is ok at same point. I would say they’d probably benefit from some more weight though so I’ll try that first. All the mainline points are large radius.
  8. Thanks Adrian I need to mix the stock up a bit before another vid though they are beginning to all look the same, that DMU was a bit lively through the junction as well, must do better!
  9. Morning all Had a bit of a running session yesterday afternoon and took a bit of footage. As you'll see the cliffs are still very white but I've spent a bit of time fettling some locos that hadn't been out of their boxes yet despite being purchased in some cases a couple of years ago! As it has been rather cold out there over the last couple of weeks or so a change of scene was required but I've now got 6 locos lined up for weathering before making their debuts.
  10. Hi only came across this today, is this something he sells from the range or just something he did for you do you know?
  11. Yeah I bought a 50 to look pretty on a shelf above the oo gauge layout. Then ‘Eastleigh’ was released now got two more 50s on pre-order and then there’s the 73 coming!!
  12. Hi all Arrived today and well worth the wait and I can't wait to get them weathered up and in service! I think the pics give you all you need to know CoBo!
  13. Hi Rich Thanks for the comments but nope no airbrush was harmed in the weathering! it’s all done with cheap acrylic paints from The Range. Mixed up in various tones, watered down and dropped on with a pipette, Mr Buick’s method but don’t tell him!
  14. I’ll echo that, they received my returns this morning and the refund was in my account by mid afternoon! I will also gladly reorder once the issue is sorted out.
  15. Hi all Just wondered if anyone had one or two of these spare parts kicking about they don't need? I have a s/h Class 56 with broken ones. Many thanks
  16. Evening all Not a lot achieved this week to see but importantly I added some droppers around the points to make the running better which involved remedial works to a bit of ballast here and there. The reason for doing odd jobs to keep things moving forward, the Sculptamould still hasn't fully dried out after 9 days despite the heater being on several days this week! I think the damp miserable weather isn't helping as the 'fresh' air I'm letting in is probably more wet than the air in the shed. However, other bits done are the cosmetic wires being painted and fixed in position so they don't short out the trains when they pass anymore! Also the rusty drain covers have been added to the catchpits at last. Another view after the drain covers, point motors and remedial ballast was weathered down with the same sort of brown colour used on the ballast. Hopefully the next update might be of the white cliffs looking more Dawlish if they ever dry out!
  17. Hi Graham sorry I meant to reply and got distracted! All good here thanks, missus has been working normally throughout and I've carried on as best I can considering most of my work involves visiting hospitals! As you can see the restrictions have given me the time to progress things in the shed since you visited. Glad to hear you've got your own gaff now, have you got plenty of modelling space to get Aylestone rebuilt, and I had seen your videos of the n gauge.
  18. No it's not Andy, this is definitely Kevin's work but similar set up inside.
  19. Cheers Graham but the loco is all Kevin's work on loan, its not seen any use since he sold Leaford but you're right it does look good. Like everyone I'm still waiting for the Dapol one, as being a Lima loco I'm not sure it will make it up from the FY with 15 PTAs in tow! How are you and the brother coping with the last year? Say hi to him from me.
  20. Cheers and hopefully it won't be too long Phil.
  21. Evening all Two days running eh, don't worry it won't last! As the plaster is still drying I just had a bit of a play today and spent sometime improving the running of a loco. Plus it is apparent I haven't completely cleaned up all the pointwork after all the glue and paint has been poured all over it! I need to spend a day running an 08 over it all until it runs perfect again. oh well two steps forward and one back. Different traction today on the Merehead to Exeter Riverside stone 59003 rolls through Exford Park. Keeping to the stone theme, 47500 approaches the junction slowly with a Meldon to Exford Yard ballast working. Having crossed the junction it now ambles into the loop behind the station.
  22. Evening all So things have moved on a bit more so thought another update might be interesting for some? When I had some time this week, I finished the placing and carving of of the Celotex formation at the far end of the shed and today I coated it all with Sculptamould. First a panoramic view of the whole scene. More Dover than Dawlish so far! Drivers' eye view of the curve. The bare bones of 'Kennaway Tunnel' (ish. Once I'd cleared up I ran some trains as a reward until dinner was ready. Also I fitted the battery to the tail lamp on the PTA train and loaded them with stone. 'Fearless' bursts from the tunnel as the 101 heads into the curve. A short time later with the DMU at the platform, 56037 screams through with the loaded Merehead to Exeter Riverside stone. Once the plaster has dried out fully, I'll hopefully get some paint on it all to make it more Dawlish coloured as well as bit of carving of texture to the cliff faces.
  23. Cheers! but it’s taken three and half years to get this far, and it’s only because of a pandemic that I’ve made this much progress in the last year!
