  1. Not convinced either Andy, further back nearer the bridge I think and raised up a bit towards the bridge height, just looks a little 'plonked' where it is sorry.
  2. Evening all Having just reloaded the pics from my Christmas railtour post again, I realised its been quite some time since I did a picture update with layout progress rather than just running videos. Partly the reason for the lack of updates is the lack of progress on the layout as time was again taken up finishing off Tidworth once and for all, however, recently a few bits have been done so I decided a post was in order which will hopefully also speed up the return of the earlier pics. Firstly the engineers sidings were re-laid to a better alignment which also allowed a bit of extra length too. Once that had been done I decided to add a kickback siding hence the extra point, after the sidings were then ballasted. In the background you can see I've added a base green layer to the 'Dawlishy' cliffs. View of the kickback siding that will gain a loading platform and building as an engineers' base, and the green base coat extends back to the station. View of the tunnel entrance with the green added and pathway painted a base grey, still need to create the 'Kennaway tunnel' portal. With the arrival of a couple more Dogfish wagons last week, I got the rusty paint out to give the inside of all those that required it (5 Dogfish & 2 Turbots) a coat of rust ready for further weathering at some point. I also finally got around to replacing couplings on the mixed bag (Bachmann/Hornby/Lima) of cement wagons to all match. So there we go then an update of sorts, the only track that needs ballasting now is the stabling point on the righthand side of the shed which can wait for a bit. Next is colouring the ballast in the goods loops and sidings before the addition of static grasses and other greenery.
  3. All appeared to work but there's no Premium theme to select, what am I missing. Done the clear history/cookies to the dawn of time and then logged back into RMweb still no good.
  4. Morning Andy All coming together well, time to put the For Sale board up soon!😉 The recycled ballast looks pretty good as rocky bits as well.
  5. Evening Andy All coming along nicely as usual, have you thought about making the cutting to the tunnel a rock face just to break up the green?
  6. Evening all I hadn't realised it was 10 months since the last video compilation but recently I'd been saving clips on my phone as and when I was running trains with a view to another. Tuesday's visit by Nigel has given me the opportunity to put one together complete with the 'drivers eye' view of the complete layout in both directions taken with Nigel's Cube camera. (Thanks Nigel!) As you will see there hasn't been much progress apart from the addition of more colouring to the cliffs and the first application of a base coat of green stuff which already makes it come to life. Having finally finished off the Tidworth extension recently I now intend to focus on this layout for a bit. The engineers sidings have been slightly realigned to more follow the curve of the mainline, and the next job will be to ballast this area and then attack this end of the layout with static grasses and much more vegetation on the cliff area.
  7. Morning all (just) Been a while and thought I'd just drag the thread back to life before Nigel (Melangoose) visits tonight for his first inspection of the new Exford Park. Small progress has been made recently with some green stuff being liberally thrown all over the cliffs to bring them to life ready for a lot more to be added on top. There maybe some photos of the action later as well as a 'drivers eye' view if Nigel remembers his camera truck.
  8. Thanks Ray I hope you’re well. Yes a bit disappointing about the others but you never know.
  9. As long as Mr B stays on the Revolution stand!
  10. Evening all Well its been 4 months since Tidworth's last appearance here after the Tolworth show where quite a bit of interest was shown in the layout for other shows, but disappointingly only the Tonbridge show for 2023 has materialised so far. However, the layout has been invited to the Newbury show 29th October this year via a friend's contact, so that looks to be the next appearance. Despite no imminent shows I've continued to add further details to the extension and I reckon I can call it finished now! I also changed the cross board connector with a more reliable one as well. Finally I've got around to adding the barbed wire atop the MoD fencing as intended. Also with much bad language I've added point rodding from the ground frame. I'm sure it is no way accurate but it gives the right impression! Finally some figures including dogs, have been added to give it a bit of life. Now that I'm happy its finished, the extension board will be packed away in storage until later in the year. I will now concentrate on the shed layout this year now the weather is becoming more pleasant, but not before this weekend's visit to Ally Pally where you'll find me at the controls of Mr Buick's Oak Road layout.
  11. Last few weeks and the next few have been/are manic with no time for anything unfortunately, once I get a window I'll visitate you!
  12. Nice weathering Nigel how many more you got to do?
  13. Morning Mr P Glad things seem to have settled down again but boy was the 70 a bit lively! need to find my mojo again for the shed.
  14. I was thinking exactly the same and both lines can access/ exit it.
  15. These were waiting for me when I got home tonight, absolutely superb wagons and good value! just need a coat of filth now!
  16. Congratulations Mike and hope the Covids have gone away! You might want to find a couple of minutes to update your signature!
  17. Hi Andy Nice compilation on the video of the trains, but note to self don't stand in front of a camera again! Compliments of the season to you and all the family, stay safe and see you in the New Year.
  18. Evening all Just thought I'd post to close out the year at Exford Park, although nothing much has been done since the last post as other things have been taking up time but I caught a visiting tour today! After a gap of SEVEN (yes seven) years, today saw the running of the Network Santa Circular IV tour by the 'Tidworth on the road crew' the last being 2014 in the loft! So after a very early start this morning from Paddington, the tour picked up at Acton Green @SparxD428 in darkness before a fast run down the GW mainline and onwards along the Berks & Hants through Oak Road @scoobyra. Then after passing Wyvern Road @Melangoose the tour headed to Exeter St Davids for a crew change. After the crew change the tour powers past Exford Signal Centre with 50003 leading 50007. As the tour is heading for Porthleven @Rhysb50046 was attached at Exeter for the reversal as the run round won't cope with the 9 coach train. Early afternoon saw the tour return from the West behind 'Defiance' which was a surprise loco swap at Plymouth. After another crew change and reversal at Exeter St Davids the tour now takes the junction and up the LSWR towards London. The pair of Vacs 'lean' into the curve as they power away from the junction towards Exford Park station. Another view as they round the curve. The last view of the tour before dark as it thunders through the platform. The tour was now heading direct to Avonbury & Leighford @Rhysb after the planned visit to @pitbull1845 'land was cancelled due to engineering work (he's torn it up again!). The tour was then due to run through Millway Docks @Hampshire Hog and along the coast to Bute Road @Andrew P before returning to London Waterloo via Beresford Junction @Beresford Junction . There wasn't time in the busy itinerary for a visit to Tidworth @Temeraire but it will be on the list for next year's tour, although visits to most of @PaulRhB 's world are a 'no go' due to track gauging issues! Thanks to everyone who've looked in and/or commented this year and are following for more progress with the layout, which I hope will pick up in the New Year after some remedial works to Tidworth ready for a photo shoot in January are completed. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all, and keep safe out there!
  19. Hi Andy Looking good in the video, but I'm not sure about those bollards. I think there are too many of them, but they also look a bit oversize for a small fishing village perhaps unless you're expecting the QE2 to turn up? Not a criticism, but to my eye they just don't look 'right'.
  20. I hope so and we can get back to the layout instead of the ‘my library is bigger than yours’ debate!
  21. Afternoon all So after a gap of 750 days Tidworth went out on the road again this weekend to the Tolworth Showtrain. A big thank you to John and his team for their efforts in providing us with the chance to play trains again and their hospitality. Also thanks to Mike, Paul, Chris and Scott for their company and assistance all weekend I hope you enjoyed it as much as me, plus for once I actually took some pics myself! As you saw above Scott brought this 'Poppy coach' with him on Sunday and Tidworth had two buses on the bridge for the day as our nod to the importance of the weekend as the exhibition fell silent at 11am. . 08953 arranges some china clay wagons in the yard. 47482 moves off the stabling road to collect the clay train. View of a Cargowaggon awaiting unloading at the warehouse dock. View across the yard. MoD shunter 270 collects newly arrived wagons in the exchange sidings. Overhead view of the stabling roads with 33030 and 47142 in situ while 08953 sets back to collect the empty fuel wagon from the fuel point. The driver of the Thumper gets the 'tip' from the guard with the 14.03 to Portsmouth Harbour. All in all a very enjoyable weekend as it was good to get back out on the circuit and some potential invites were received for next year. Also received a request to photograph the layout for a possible magazine article. Thanks again everyone.
  22. Shouldn’t be difficult we face each other across an aisle.
  23. Evening all As you may have read on the Tidworth layout thread the extension is completed and we're raring to go for the first Ex in two years, come and say hello to me and the gang on stand E35. The thumper sits in the platform on the original part of the layout. And seen here approaching the station on the new extension.
