  1. Evening all Nothing to report on the layout, just a post to say I've reloaded all the pics to the thread that I could find.
  2. Hi Rich Shame I won’t make it this weekend it would’ve been good to finally meet you, don’t suppose you’ll get to Newbury next weekend? Have a good show.
  3. Hi all Just a quick post to say I have now completed the reinstating of all my pics that I could find, (still a few holes) to the thread. All being well the system will eventually fill in the blanks.
  4. Evening all just a bump for the exhibition in Newbury in ten days' time! Spent some time this weekend wheel cleaning locos and gluing bits back onto various bits of rolling stock in preparation and packing into the transit boxes. Last night I reinstated as many of my photos that I can find to the thread as the ‘system’ doesn’t seem to be doing it very quickly, so from page 30 so far, all my pics are there.
  5. Morning all some pics from the weekend at Ropley where ‘Lion’ has started on the road to recovery. 50027 is getting into position in the yard on Friday to have the roof removed. 11.20am Saturday and the engine and generator are lifted clear of the engine room. The big oily hole left behind ready for a steam clean and paint. A few hours later the generator was split off and loaded onto a lorry ready for its journey to the Midlands this week. Everyone has fingers crossed that the issue with the generator can be overcome with a good clean and bake, but time will tell. 🤞 Thanks to all those involved in such an efficient and well organised operation on Saturday. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/50027maingen?utm_term=MbvzQJQz9
  6. Morning everyone After radio silence here for 6 months now 😲 just thought I'd drop in to remind you that Tidworth will be making its first and only exhibition appearance this year in 5 weeks time Saturday October 29th, at the Newbury Exhibition at ST. BARTHOLOMEWS SCHOOL, BUCKINGHAM ROAD, NEWBURY RG14 6JP. Open 10.00 - 16.30. Also as you can see in my signature, Tidworth is due to be in print again, this time ModelRail magazine available from October 27th.
  7. many thanks for comments Phil, good to hear from you. As for the 800/HST I’m sure at some point my ‘friends’ will bring their modern stuff for a photo op!🙄
  8. Evening all So as promised some train pics from Sunday after I'd put the scenic stuff away. First up 33004 rounds the bend with a cement train. Soon after 50036 Victorious passed in the other direction with a train from Waterloo to Exeter. Meanwhile 33057 has arrived from the stabling point to pick up a rake of engineers wagons previously arranged by the resident 08. A few minutes later and the Crompton eases the train out of the sidings and heads for Westbury. After the departure 08839 has since rearranged more wagons and now takes a break while the crew have gone for a cuppa. A few minutes later the silence is broken with the passing of 50037 Illustrious on the curve. Another view of the Vac as it slows for the junction. There you go then, a flavour of the trains that can be seen at Exford.
  9. I'm back again! So this was the state of play when I put the scenic stuff away yesterday afternoon to 'play trains'. Lower bank treated to various colours and textures. Reverse view. View around the bend, happy with that (for now), train pics to follow! 😉
  10. Evening all A bit later than expected but I have been throwing more green stuff at the cliffs over the last few days. After the last update as I said I moved to the left and started on the next section. A couple of views of the complete scene from either direction with the state of play on Wednesday night. Yesterday some more was done to the area below the cliff face down to the trackside, more to follow.
  11. Evening all So I managed a start on the cliffs the back end of last week and the pic shows the state of play Friday evening. I didn't get out to the shed over the weekend but I moved to the left of this photo tonight and continued, I'll post a pic once the glue dries out. All the clump foliage at the back on top of the cliffs was all recycled from the original Exford loft layout with polyfibre and scatter over the edges. Its difficult to see but there is static grass plus scatter on the trackside bank. More to come.😉
  12. Looks good Nigel, need some Buddleia on the platform though!😉
  13. Morning Andy Like the changes you’ve made I’m sure it’ll give more Play value.😉
  14. Just after you've finished painting my backscene! 😉
  15. I thought it looked familiar! 🤣 (I've just posted some pics of them on my thread)
  16. Evening all Blimey another two months passes, although its been a bit warm in the shed to be modelling, however a little more progress has been made on the scenics. During a camping trip to Starcross visits were made to Dawlish and some soil acquired to colour the cliff faces authentically. 😉 Some genuine Dawlish soil now colours the cliffs, and a low embankment has been constructed from Sculptamold between the running lines and sidings, and here it has been covered in soil and flock as a basis for more. Note the static grass machine at the ready! Later the same day and more added to one end of the bank, static grasses more flock plus some polyfibre bushes with flock 'hairsprayed' on. A week later and the full length of the bank has been treated and some Buddliea bushes have grown. Later the same day two views of the complete scene after the construction of sectional concrete wall to create a storage area for the engineers sidings and part filled with some ballast. A lot more general clutter will be added to the scene as things continue to progress but next on the list is to add alot more greenery to the cliff faces and the bank in front along the trackside.
  17. Hi Bob I had a go at that in 2010 for my Exford Park layout. It is now in place on the 'new' Exford layout in my shed, although it either needs some TLC or a rebuild. I like the look of the developing layout, I wanted to model Exeter St Davids but couldn't make it fit in the space I had available.
  18. Give me a few days I’ll see if I can find them again.
  19. Thanks Rich it’s nice to get some feedback either way. I have been back to it three or four times adding a bit here and there and layering up the static grasses, I guess the trick is to know when to stop!
  20. Evening all Another month passes us by and there has been a little progress! All the newly ballasted track has been coloured with watered down acrylic paints as before, a fence has been added to divide the cement sidings from the running lines, and finally a start has been made on adding greenery etc around the goods loop behind the station. 33004 rolls into the loop with this week's cement tanks. '004 awaits the shunter to uncouple so it can move the empties from the sidings. Having moved the empties into the goods loop the Crompton is ready the position the full tanks. Easing the full tanks back into the siding. 33004 now does a brake test and awaits the road out of the goods loop and back onto the mainline with the empties. Once the cement train had departed 33108 was routed into the loop with an engineers train to allow the passage of a passenger train and is seen ambling into the loop. The 33/1 creeps over the crossover and alongside the station. And finally comes to a stand close to the overbridge and awaits its time to leave. There we are then a bit of progress and the engineers' sidings might get some greenery etc before I host some RMwebbers here in a couple of weeks so watch this space.😉
  21. Hi Pete Nice collection of photos and looks like a good meet up, I’ve got a meet planned at mine in a few weeks time if you’re free? 🤣 It was good to see you last month on your visit and hope the trip home was bearable. All the best
  22. Not convinced either Andy, further back nearer the bridge I think and raised up a bit towards the bridge height, just looks a little 'plonked' where it is sorry.
