  1. Secondly, some building ideas from the area I'm hoping to get down that way again soon to get more photos of buildings to give a better idea of sizes and materials. There's also a chance of at least constructing the test plank over the next week or so
  2. After my little trip to Bramdean and the surrounding area yesterday, I've sorted out some of the photos. Firstly some general landscape ones I'd forgotten how hilly the area was so I'm going to have to give this some thought.
  3. Chris. It's interesting to find out that the info given was different to reality. Apart from the colour it does look good. As for the sleeper spacing, I honestly don't know which one you should use. However, for accurate spacing Brian's Hawthorn Town has a cracking idea http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/89435-hawthorn-town-mk-2-working-title/page-13&do=findComment&comment=1895669 Hope some of this helps
  4. Shaun. Those pictures really are quality. I had to look at the first one twice to make sure that it was from the layout
  5. Ian. Tesco will deliver to an alternative address for you. I had to do it a few years ago for someone and it worked very well
  6. Morning all. A quick visit while I get my caffeine levels up before spending the day in a classroom. I'm hoping that there is no more bad news this week for ER's. There seems to have been far too much recently. Which reminds me. I hope Trev and Taz are OK. Have a good day everyone
  7. Weren't me guv, honest. I always let someone have a drink first Why is it that people don't believe you when you tell them how noisy it is. I still check my footwear every morning I just can't seem to break the habit.
  8. It looks far better Brian. How did you hold the sleepers in position while ballasting?
  9. Clive. Really sorry to hear your news. A horrible choice for Carys. There are times when I think we are closer to our pets than other humans.
  10. Evening Clive Fortunately or unfortunately I've experienced all 3 of the above. I wouldn't change the experience for anything in the world though
  11. One of the things I enjoyed about my military time was going to many places in the world with no light pollution and actually seeing the stars properly. It's probably one of the reasons that I have never enjoyed living in large towns or cities. Bill. I'm looking forward to seeing the latest masterpiece
  12. Neil. I can totally sympathise about finding blocks of time. Apart from Railex this weekend and a couple of small jobs, I am going to find the time. Looking forward to seeing the plank
  13. Work (and the weather) worked out well for me today. I managed to get to Bramdean and the surrounding area and got several photos. I haven't got the time to download them at the moment but should be able to post a few on Friday when I've got over the next 2 days sat in a classroom
  14. Bob, after reading through todays posts, I couldn't have put it any better
  15. Morning all. Another flying visit this morning. Alan - Really sorry to hear of your problems. The only thing I can offer is my sympathy and morale support. Trying times indeed. Hump day today. Have a good day everyone
  16. I finally get a chance to see it in the flesh
  17. Morning all. Not quite what I was expecting, sunny but the forecast is thunderstorms, high winds and hail. Happy Birthday Sherry. A flying visit this morning. Have a good day all.
  18. Looks good Jim and developing well. I'm looking forward to the next update
  19. OK, so today didn't quite go to plan. However, I'm back in the area for the next 2 days so I'm hoping that things improve.
  20. Morning all. Three days of work this week and then in the classroom on a course for two days. Why do I get the feeling that the weather booked itself after looking at my diary Just a very quick visit and I hope to be able to look in before this evening. Have a good day everyone
  21. Thanks guys. A lot of potential ideas and lots to think about. If I'm lucky, and I'm not normally, work tomorrow is taking me down near Bramdean so I'll take my camera in the hope of getting some photos of the area. It should give me a slightly clearer idea of what I need to create
  22. Hi Chris I agree with your point. I suppose that one of the things to consider, probably more than the station being hidden, is at what height would it be. I was considering a rise of about 5 - 6mm from the front to the station with a slight further rise behind. This would mean that rather than being on an embankment, it would have been a levelled off area when the railway was built. I'm still undecided at the moment but will be playing with a couple of ideas over the next few weeks.
