  1. It certainly looks right to me. The larger tank looks as if it is too large and the water capacity would be about right.
  2. Morning Don I think that this is where I ended up in my own mind last night. At the moment I need to get a really hectic schedule out of the way so that I can start properly
  3. Thanks for reminding me about PIR. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) the amount of free time at the moment means that the boards are on hold for at least a few weeks. It might be the time to try SCARM to get a better feel of how it would look with the suggested terraforming.
  4. Morning all. It looks like another good day today but I probably won't get too much time to enjoy it with a list of things to do. Andy - I hope you recover soon and haven't got the lingering ER bug. Ian - Looks like you've been lucky with the weather (so far) and the advice about where to eat. I think the phrase 'further training required' is what's needed for the captain to get his coffee. Bob - Hope you have a good time at the show and don't eat all the cakes Have a good day everyone
  5. I have to admit that a similar thought crossed my mind in the early hours of the morning. Certainly something to think about along with a change to the base board design to accommodate it.
  6. Morning guys I've been having a look at the plan over the last hour or so and can see a potential problem. If the layout is built as per the plan in post #77 http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/90743-hinton-ampner/page-4&do=findComment&comment=1620903 I end up with the village masking the station. I'm more than happy with the military sidings and hope to keep the modifications to this area to a minimum. The only thought that I've had so far is to remove the station but I believe that I would loose some operational interest. Your thoughts please
  7. Thanks Chris. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the show and you certainly didn't chat for too long. I did manage to see the layouts that I wanted to but the idea of today was more of talking with the traders and getting a few ideas. I have posted on HA about the plan for track and a test board after a fairly long discussion with C&L.
  8. Hi Andy. The track is the C&L 00 gauge flexi which I have to admit looks far better than any others I've seen. The point should be relatively easy. The test board is only going to be about 4" x either 12 or 18". It'll test the point building and some scenic. It will also give me somewhere to photograph the rolling stock and locos.
  9. Great to meet Chris N at ExpoEM today. As usual with everyone from here that I've ended up meeting as nice in person as on line. A few ideas were discussed as well. Although I took my camera, it didn't see the light of day even though there were some really good layouts on show. Most of the time was talking to various traders to get some ideas (mostly about where I will be spending some of my hard earned at a later date)
  10. I had quite a conversation today with C&L at ExpoEM about track and turnout building. Instead of going down the copper clad route, which is quite prohibitive in cost for many reasons, I picked up a turnout kit and some flexi track to try out on a test board. I should be picking up the timber for the test board this week but it looks like a couple of weeks before a start can be made on it
  11. Congratulations Jason. I thought it had been a bit quiet lately
  12. This worries me http://style.org/unladenswallow/
  13. Morning all. Off to Bracknell in a while to ExpoEM. I'm not intending going down that route for any modelling, just decided to see something a bit different. Colin - I feel for your loss of Coolio. We had several that lived to a great age and were more part of the family than some relations. Baz - I'm glad that the visit to the doc provided a simple solution Mick - I've never worked a 9 - 5 job since I left school and at my age I don't think that I could change. Ian - I hope that the revised weekend schedule isn't too much for either of you. I certainly hope that your MiL is going to be alright. Have a good day everyone
  14. Jim, great to see you back. Also a fantastic success with the cakebake. Bill, you've said everything that I wanted to.
  15. A bit like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dwes_3K9eY
  16. Morning all. A bright, sunny and warm morning. Already completed one local job and I only have one more today. Lets just hope it goes to plan. Terribly sad news about BB King. It seems that we are loosing a lot of iconic artists this year. Andy - Excellent news about your dad. The relief must be palpable. Baz - I know others have said it already, but please make sure you see a doctor ASAP. I hope to be able to look in again later. Have a good day everyone
  17. Enjoy the show guys. One of these days I'll get to see CQ in the flesh
  18. Morning all. Late on parade this morning after my late finish yesterday. Fortunately today was set aside for organising a couple of courses, ordering parts for a couple of jobs next week and getting new tyres on the van. Is it me, or is there a theme going on here with tyres. Anyway, time to press on. Have a good day everyone
  19. Night all after a very long day
  20. Morning all. It looks like another nice day today and I'm going to be stuck inside for most of it. Oh well, at least todays job hasn't been cancelled. Jock - It sounds like due respect and remembrance was paid by everyone. Something that appears to be lacking a lot of the time. It says a lot about the friends and family that your friend had. The only other thing I can say is Jock said it all with his update on what everyone else had posted which means I have nothing else to add. Have a good day everyone
  21. Morning all. Another un-planned day of not working. Why do people leave it until the last minute to postpone work. Had an email yesterday evening to postpone todays work and then told me that he'd booked it for another day. One that I've already got scheduled in a different part of the country. He'll just have to wait. Jock - Hope you're feeling better today. AndyRam - This is one of those times of the year when I don't envy anyone in teaching. I hope it goes well. Dick - I know it won't recover fully, but look after that thumb Have a good day everyone
  22. Happy Birthday Dick Ikea is tolerated by myself but only when I can't find what I'm after elsewhere. I did have a nice easy day booked for today. A 2 hour job but with nearly 4 hours driving to and from. Finished the job and then had to go to Wood Green for another one. I eventually got back and then had to go to Staines. Oh well. At least it keeps me out of trouble.
