  1. For the 21w bulb, I use these '12v 21w Bay9s Hy21w Miniature-Amber Indicator bulb' their dia is small and thus can be used to project through the controller face panel.
  2. Or for our Welsh readers Behnaz Akhgar Meanwhile, I shall try the Bachmanns and Modelu are aware of the need for 'proper' 1:76 from a Facebook topic.
  3. I shall try some Airfix ones, The Langly 4mm scale didn't look to good to me.
  4. I haven't looked for 7mm versions, I'm still struggling to find some decent 1:76 grazing sheep. I have a topic elsewhere on RMweb re. Sheep and on a Facebook group too, I also have various packs of sheep from suppliers purporting to be either 00 or H0/00, they are all (barrr Merit/Peco, and these are thin and still small) - (well almost? ) clones of the Prieser Sheep. For guidance, a generic Sheep should be approx. 3 ft to the withers at 1:1 scale. If we are trying to model track, stock etc., properly, then I believe we should take the holistic approach and try and get all the other items on the layout near to scale too. Of course if your doing perspectives, small sheep on a distant hill may help the illusion
  5. I look forward to seeing where you get your grazing, proper fed 1:76 scale sheep from. Plenty of lambs about - aka OO/HO scale Sheep.
  6. Bill, I seem to recall the G.C.Rly had something similar, but for the G.N.Rly do you mean something like this
  7. Following information posted at ... and that I have some VR's in stock, plus the fact I've had a couple of Controllers play up, after some 40+ years. I thought "let's try it". Apart from some self inflicted dry joints, and the pot and a on/off switch are in a separate walk-about handheld unit, all went well. Many thanks for this John.
  8. But did they not say "Your life will be enriched by reading......." etc., etc.,
  9. Annie, are you on Facebook, if so go to the LNWR Soc's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/109619289726001 and either post there your request, or contact via PM, the admin. Pilchers book is excellent value. If your not on FB, PM me here and I will see what I can do - I'm not a member of the Society.
  10. Further to the above, a good friend in the Valleys has reminded me of just how clever Sheep can be ? And to add to the belief that sheep are intelligent, it’s probably more appropriate to say clever. In the Rhondda, where sheep used to run the streets in small flocks causing havoc, their favourite pastime at night was to open rubbish bins, in the days before wheelie bins, we used galvanised bins with removable lids, easy for the sheep to remove. The council trialled clip on lids in an attempt to stop them, the sheep however were one step ahead!!!! They found that if they rammed the bin they could crush it into an oval shape, hew presto off came the lid.
  11. I had forgotten there was a solid side to the chassis etch for the rear pony - a slot . I did away with that part of the chassis and made a pony wheel arrangement. In the first photo The red arrow is pointing to a piece of wire that basically keeps the pony truck in line with the driving wheels, and minimal vertical movement, just to the right there's a tube which it slides in (very minimal), I can't understand what the piece of brass is the green arrows pointing at, placed there long, long ago. BUT, it may be something to be seen on the prototype when you look at the next photo. I think the area behind the grate area is a 'see through' on the real thing. Perhaps I should have done a 180 deg, turnaround on this photo ... Not sure why the buffers are that type, I think this was made for a LMS themed layout, but the person decided not to have the loco, and thus converted back to LNWR.
  12. John, yes those are the ones I have, many thanks. I have some former 'Scalespeed handle/levers' tuck away, so I feel another controller coming on
  13. Uhmn, I hadn't thought of using one of those (Silly me ). I have a few spare from a bunch I received for getting the right voltages for LEDS, etc., I feel a 'trial controller' coming on. If it works for me, many thanks John.
  14. I have a rocking front axle, the driven one is fixed with a Portscap motor and gearbox* and the rear pony truck is lightly sprung both vertical and horizontally. The original chassis was widened for EM. It's always been a good runner. I bought and assembled it when it first came out, so it must 35 years or more old. * The Portscap was given to me by a friend, who didn't like it. It's the noisiest motor on my layout? The rest of my fleet is DS10's or various size can motors through a wide range of gearboxes.
  15. Wait for it to be in the shops, scheduled for the 16th (tomorrow), if you read earlier posts
  16. Some years ago (5 or 6?) I bought some white metal sheep at an exhibition, I suspect it was at Southampton. The retailer was selling the sheep loose, thus if you wanted 10 grazing sheep, that's what you could buy. The sheep were well cast, so please don't point me in the direction of Langley's. I now need some more grazing sheep, but I cannot seem to find out who the seller was. I know there are some sets out there, often 3 grazing, 3 lying down and 3 looking around etc., - Not interested. If anybody has a lead to the retailer, I would be very grateful. I assume Scenery, etc., is the right section for this query.
  17. St Cuddies Mill near Wookey , Would the 'WELLS' PO's be 'Henry Wells of Frome' - Coal Merchants? and... Looking at the trackwork, how did the two vans and the flat wagon with a container get there? I can't see a logical flow of trackwork there from the 'main' line, or anywhere else.
  18. Green is (all) right. Red is the colour of Port (wine). ... and your looking to the Bow (front) A bit convoluted as a memory jogger, but it works for me.
  19. Off Topic I live near Newlyn, all around is Nautical...... Hearing aids have a Red dot on the Starboard side (Right ear) and a Green dot on the Port side (Left ear). I complained to my hearing aid supplier, but they just gave me a glazed look - Specsavers.
  20. I've had a couple of the long nosed ones for nearly 40 years, very good. I hadn't realised you could also have 'finger comfort' pieces, which with my encroaching arthritis would be useful to retaining a grip on them, ........ they have a strong spring. Thoroughly recommended.
  21. I shall probably be burnt at the stake for this, but I've used 12v 21w car stop light bulbs to minimise overloads on my DC controller systems, over the last 50 years. So far no fry-ups.
  22. Oh. somebody else modelling an area in close proximity to my (imaginary location) layout. I have a Watford tank BTW, No. 14, it took me 14 years to complete it
