It's definitely not a Spam Can and it's not even southern!!!
-
It was a bright sunny morning, that's where I went wrong with the natural light bit. As it washed out all the colour that's on her.
-
Lighting plays a major factor here, so it looks grey.
-
Who does those then?
Fox Transfers do the smokebox numberplates for both 30585 and 30387

I would add a etched smokebox numberplate and shedcode as well. As I've added the etched smokebox numberplate to my 30585 and it brings the little engine alive.

KHANNNNNNNNNN!!!!!
Sorry had to be done with a title like that
-
Been a lot easier than expected using an airbrush, Railmatch's Acrylics are a joy to work with and don't need too much thinning. Cleaning the airbrush was a different matter lol!!
-
Hurricane's going to be my first one weathered with an airbrush, so this could prove interesting....
-
Golden Plover will be clean-ish, though I do have a photo of it in a sorry state...
... oh ######, just gave the game away
-
I didn't, but where did you get that info from?
-
Ash, clinker etc, a tardy clean out of the smokebox. Was still drying at the time so it hadn't been brushed down
-
You've done late to early crest on a Schools if memory serves me right Renumbering was thought about, but it's going to end up really dirty.
Talking of GWR, you've reminded me to finish off weathering Derwent Grange, that's been on the back burner for years....
-
Glenn
You've done 34089 and I've done the four that you've mentioned. I've only got 19 left to do out of the entire class, which is a bit of a shock, that's not counting duplications either!
I might have a go at coaches this year, if I can get a set of Bachmann MK1's in Crimson and Cream I want to do a southern set that lasted late in that colour (complete with bogie change)
I'm rubbing his nose in it to put it mildly I'm doing it to keep me sane and it's better than doing overtime at work.
-
Got the unrebuilt crap from a certain crooked second hand jag dealer that we are both aware of Glenn
However someone needs to correct SEMG's model index page:
-
Looking good there Graham, did you remove the boiler backhead while you were stripping Sir Meliagrance down for respray?
-
Sorry for the delay in replying, have been busy with work and projects (see my new entry). White Sage Ash is the by product of burning white sage as part of a smudging (cleansing) ritual (I'm an honorary member of Western Cherokee tribe of Native Americans.)
-
No Jon, I actually use yellow from set E of the weathering powders as it shows as white against the grime
-
I know where you are coming from Simon and it's hard decision to make, but life must go on.

Supurb! Brilliant job I wondered why it went quiet for a while now we know! lol Ive had same issues building guitars and stuff varnishes and laquers... its a right pain!
Beautiful job, let me know the bill and ill get it straight to you.
Thanks
I was debating what to do as I'm always nervous about rubbing things down once I've lined them. So I had to let the varnish completely harden before I attempted it.
I'll PM you shortly
-
SUPER! It was only being painted yesterday super work.. i just hope you haven't made the same mistake as the Bluebell and the Crest's.. they put them on the wrong way round haha.
Great work
That's the beauty of using Acrylic varnish over enamel, hardens in a fraction of the time
Yes I spotted that one, it's got the correct facing one on the side that's completely lined the otherside will be done tomorrow all being well.

When I first saw the title, I thought - Simon what are you up to . However a fascinating review of three prototypes, though I'm a bit surprised that 25 Bachy Mk 1's behaved themselves on a tail chaser and didn't derail at the initial acceleration due to the coaches shere weight. Be interesting to see how they would compare to one of the Twins...
-
Well if it was that dirty as preserved, we know who to blame
-
Is that 3-links I see?
No you are not seeing things they are three links, although I have added an extra link on one end of each to enable them to get round tighter radii I've started fitting them to the front ends of Bulleids too

Quite Possibly

I always seal the top coat of colour with gloss varnish prior to transfer application, makes it easier to move transfers around.
