Vast improvement, I think somewhere else it was mentioned about using the 4MT Sprung Buffers for the tender. I also think the Buffers from the Hoover (Class 50) could be used as they look the same as the Class 31's (for the front end of the loco).
Thanks for the mention, much better...
Why Hornby did not do this? items maybe cheap but I guess the Labour to put it on isn't.
But still I guess we are modellers so we have to do something to the models, nice to see Hornby doesn't seem to have included too much Design Clever stuff on the 2014 range... well we hope.
I think the new production facilities are on a learning curve, so as they get better so hopefully the separately fitted detail will return.

Every cloud has a silver lining, hard to believe this is the same model after how it looked when you got it

Looks incredible

How many left now?
And excellent job on the model.
7 left in total - I have donors and plates for 219 Squadron (last BoB), Morthoe (last Air-smoothed WC), Ilfracombe and Camelford, which will leave 3 that I need to acquire donors for...
And thanks

Looks fantastic. Only thing that's niggling me is the totem's on the tender - they look a bit on the small side.

No retreat, no surrender.. this ones been a challenge for sure and it'll be spectacular when it's done no doubt

Really starting to look like a West Country now Peter.

Doctor Franken-smirski has left the building... it won't be the same

Looking good

Lyme Regis is the 100th unique renaming/numbering of a Bulleid Light Pacific I've done, if I included all the repeats it's more like a 110 +

Looking really like a West Country now

I would go for the black first, then the green. It's what I always do when I'm doing the 5,250gl tenders for the Rebuilt's
-
What on earth was it painted with? Masonry paint mixed with artex lol
-
Looking good

That does sound like a rogue aerosol :/

I'm assuming the tender was painted first Simon. I'm wondering if the paint wasn't mixed thoroughly enough as I've had that happen myself with Brunswick Green from Railmatch.

Fantastic work as always
You are getting good at this cut and shut work Simon, have you considered a job as a Plastic Surgeon?

Tender looks spot on
By looking at pictures of the class in their 'Original' Airsmooth style, it's not a handrail as such, but a mounting strip to hold the side plates for the Devon Belle Express service and by the looks of it they were only fitted to those locos that ran the service. Which I believe Watersmeet did
-
Not a problem, glad to of helped
-
It sits quite low down on the flat part of the tender, but it's there. The records clearly state that it was fitted to Watersmeet. If you google her you will find a fair few pictures of her. This is what a late crest WC should look like (ok these are Battle of Britain's):
34065 Hurricane
Safety valves have been moved rearward, speedo fitted, infill and slope around chimney and aws battery box fitted at front
-
This one will be late crest in BR green as Watersmeet. (must order name plates)
The tender will need the briquette feeder cover, sits in front and to the right of the water filler on the 4,500 gallon tender. Plus a few other details on the loco to be correct for Watersmeet on a Late Crest
-
Looks fab, the only niggle is the shape of the lifting eyes as they should be semi-circular in shape
-
For such a small class they have a veritable minefield of detail differences. Also they are fiddly as hell to fit etched plates as Bachmann ones are oversize so they must be trimmed down. The left-side one is straight forward to remove, the right side however is moulded to the reversing lever, so great care must be taken.
-
Best way to describe finding the correct donor etc for an A4 is like trying to walk blindfold through a minefield on your hands backward. lol

They're a nice little loco to super detail. I did one late last year, but a Southern Regionised one (typical of me I chose the one with riveted panniers!!)
