Are you going to build the transporter as a working model James?

So the gun fires - no ;)

An addition to St. E's comment..what gauge is the track supplied. 16.5mm or wider?

Not measured the track, but by Mk.I Eyeball it looks wider than P4 - it's 1/72nd scale after all.  I may well tweak the base though ;)

The outcome is stunning, love the shot of the three together.

I'd be fascinated to know how you managed to remove the silvering, presumably with the decals still in place.

    John.

Coated the decals with X-20A and gently pierce the decals with something sharp to allow it to get it underneath in the affected area and let it dry (mop off the excess if you use too much) - importantly don't touch the decals until it's dry and repeat it if necessary.

If you fancy spending more cash, have a look at the Mk1 Design detail sets, expensive but impressive.  Hannants sometimes have them at a 30% discount. The mast and radar set is a good investment if you are planning to RC the kit.  The armament set for the Rodney, which is slightly different from the Nelson, is on offer at the moment.

    Enjoy

    Roddy

Ps. It involves modelling, I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it!

The Mk.1 sets are amazing and pricey. I did see that on Hannants myself about the armament set for Rodney and it's way to different to use, if they discount the set for the Nelson. I may get it.

I've got the Artwox Model wooden deck set on order from a supplier in Australia. Which has enough photo-etch to send me completely nuts lol

My experience of warship building is 1/600th Airfix kits in the 60s/70s, although I never had HMS Nelson.  I've been watching YouTube "The Midwest Model Shop" . He is constructing 1/200 USS Missouri also by Trumpeter. Really fascinating . I think he had some specific etchings for the deck planking . I think the gun barrels are brass . Wow how things have come on in model warship building . Would love to see more of your build .

The "Midwest Model Shop" he's done a few video builds on 1/200th Scale ships, as have AussieTrekkie and Trekworks (though they take it to the next level). There is aftermarket available for this ship, but it costs nearly as much as the kit :O The deck is wood for the Missouri.

I will be building it, just not right now.

Looking good, those wing spars look a good way of attaching wings, do they fit well and give the right dihedral ok?

    Interesting comparison with the MR2.

Compared to the wing spars on the Airfix Shack's - Revell's are quite malnourished - though they fit very well and look right.

Airfix's MR.2 ,may not have the rivets, but is a superior kit by a country mile.

I thought for a horrible moment you were talking about the '80 Jazz-Funk band Shakatak!

I was watching a Youtube video about Shackletons the South African air force had, apparently there is still one that crash landed in the Sahara desert on its way to an air show in Europe.

    David

    Lol.

I've watched quite a few vids on the Shacks, my favourite has to be this one..

A Shackleton engine run with a difference.

I will have to give that a try some time, though I have never actually used varnish in the airbrush before.

Tamiya X-35 Semi-Gloss is not varnish - it's a clear coat. Best thinned with Tamiya X-20A Thinners (50/50 mix) through an airbrush. If X-20A isn't available, I've used Vallejo Acrylic Thinners & Mr Hobby Rapid Thinners - they work as well.

Intriguing  prototype.  The paint has a very nice sheen to it, is there a particular varnish or clear finish you use?

I use either Tamiya Semi-Gloss Clear (X-35 thinned 50-50 with X-20A Thinners) or XF-86 Flat Clear (again thinned the same way). Though the flat clear is quite satin, to get it truly flat you can use Rapid Thinners.

That square looks like a school made example just like mine still in my tool box fifty years later, although the toffee hammer, screwdriver, scriber, dot punch and chisel have long since departed through the mists of time.

That square is actually factory made and was given to me when I started work as an apprentice over 30 years ago, so has a nice patina to it from all the work.

My Dad built them for real at Fleming and Fergusson's shipyard on the River Cart, which feeds into the Clyde . He did his engineering apprenticeship there .

I've often wondered what it would be like to build a ship kit again . My main issue is where to put it when finished!

This one doesn't take up too much room - fortunately.

I was wondering if you have finished the shed combination as thinking of doing something similar with a couple of Timber Tracks sheds.

In particular how the interface between the two shed roofs is done plus drainage of.

    Dave

No, it's still sitting in it's primed state - it's huge project, for this particular client.

I have thought about that interface and it will probably be a lead-lined gully draining into drain pipes front and rear and one, maybe two passing through the building.

Very nice build of a rare FAA type. I think this could inspire me to build up a few of my stashed 40's and 50's naval aircraft. Also your HMS Buttercup build has made me dig out my old Matchbox HMS Bluebell model with the thought of maybe finishing it off after all these years. I bought it when the kit first came out and only progressed as far as the hull and a few sub-assemblies before putting it into storage. I always intended to buy some after market detailing bits and bobs to tart it up a little. The photos on your Buttercup build show the sprues. It appears that Revell have updated the kit with extra parts. My version has a clear plastic cradle for the hull and seems to have less variation in the parts for different versions.

Edit: I just noticed that your corvette kit is 1/144 scale while the one I have is the 1/72 version! I should pay closer attention to detail.

I am building the Revell re-box of the Matchbox Bluebell kit as well (HMCS Snowberry) for a client. I've used some aftermarket on it, but not much.

Very nice, but where do you find the time for all your builds?. Yes, I've got this one in my stash as well, but I struggle to find enough time to even build a Churchill in 1/76.   :(

I only work part time in my proper job - this is my hobby, which has become a job in itself and seems to take up most of my free-time lol

I also realised a little while back - I'd put two engine room vents on in the wrong place, which I've now corrected!

There's another Flower class en-route to me, in a smaller scale - all will be revealed ;)

Get Tamiya's 1/48th Scale Churchill - you can do so much more with it trust me :D
