  1. Busy this morning and into the early afternoon. Had to go round a few times to get a chance to see some of the smaller layouts. At a new venue next year and promising a few more layouts. Thanks for putting the exhibition on.
  2. Colour view of interiors. At Bath Green Park in 1965. Bonus is an interior view of a wooden 5 plank open.

Thanks for drawing attention to this book and its thread on this forum. A. bit odd that it has taken over a month for the two to be linked!
  4. Just in case you are not aware of this webpage: https://glostransporthistory.visit-gloucestershire.co.uk/grcwandcement.htm Have not yet read it myself but it looks like it could be useful. Don't remember now where I found a link to it!
  5. Queensberry tunnel. Highways England want to block up. An action group and local authorities want to retain and eventually convert for cycle use. Plenty to read about it at links below but their idea seems logical! Action group website: http://www.queensburytunnel.org.uk/index.shtml and their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/queensburytunnel A petition to sign if you agree with their views: //www.change.org/p/securing-a-beneficial-future-for-queensbury-tunnel Apologies if this is too political or if there is already a thread about it. I did search for RMweb and Queensberry tunnel on Google and this seemed the most logical thread. I found out about it from the EMgauge 1970s website update: https://emgauge70s.co.uk/model_omwb160.html
  6. Hi. Could I suggest you change the website link in your signature to the new one?!
  7. Website only seems to have deposit cost and total cost for bodies? Some chassis etches are listed but without prices? And do body kits include tenders, where appropriate? Is “the list” you mention something different? Concept is interesting but a lack of info at the moment, e.g. quality of bodies, prices etc., is a deterrent at the moment, in my opinion of course! I also saw somewhere a similar proposal for a Caley 812, I think. No, not the Rails one!
  8. Listing on first page has this as 00? Regardless of gauge one I would like to see!

Unfortunately my comment/query has never been published in the “comments” on the page I linked to. I do though see that there is also a message board with a thread on these, so will try the same comment on that.
  10. An East Anglian depot in the 1970s seems an unlikely location for three class 26s! Maybe at the time the picture was taken it was representing a Scottish region depot?! Thanks for layout information and am planning to make my annual visit to your exhibition.
  11. Ah, I see now that you have used both a cut down coupling and a cut down pocket to create your shorter coupling. The proposed "pin" sounds sensible, certainly for your length of trains. Interesting info also about the long trains and coupling issues. I think that Dapol could have provided/could provide a one piece moulded coupling with a fish tail, to fit the fish tail shaped pocket, mirroring what you have created. This would then still seem to be a satisfactory coupling for all users.
  12. I hesitate to make comment about "NEM couplings", having previously made what I thought to be useful comments only to get what, I seem to recall, were pretty adverse responses! Anyway, I think you should be safe from the "NEM standards police"! From what I can see, there seems no reason why Dapol couldn't have made a coupling like the one you have made, i.e. with the "fishtail" end only. There seems no requirement to have both a coupling pocket with a fishtail end and a coupling with a swallowtail end that goes into that pocket. I think that is what they have provided, from one of your earlier pictures? The NEM standards appear only to be with regard to the pockets: "Standard Pocket" (NEM 362) - to take swallow tailed ended couplings; and "Special Mount for Models where Space is restricted" (NEM363) - to take the fish tail ended couplings. i.e. the tension lock couplings don't seem to be the subject of a standard, just the pockets. The very name of the 363 Standard would also seem to apply for this particular vehicle! The NEM standards can be found here, in German and French: https://www.morop.eu/index.php/de/nem-normen.html https://www.morop.eu/index.php/fr/nem-normes.html These links from Wikipedia, here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normen_Europäischer_Modellbahnen The "English" link on there takes you to a page on "Wayback Machine", so a link to the Double O Gauge Association webpage which provides an english translation is: http://www.doubleogauge.com/standards/couplings.htm Hope this of interest. Your changes and modifications look a lot more reasonable. Hopefully Dapol can provide an amended, specific coupling with future releases.
  13. Am sure I have a few of these wagons stashed away somewhere! Anyone aware of a magazine article, a thread on a forum or a blog posting about what changes are needed to produce a more accurate model? From your post obviously the bogies need alteration and from the original post I can see that the wagon needs to be lengthened as well.
  14. This might be of interest, maybe something in the background? If you don't already have a saved ebay search for Haymarket it might be worth considering - new pictures turn up fairly regularly: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362707252151?ul_noapp=true
  15. Rails current prices for the 05s make one very tempting. Thanks for this clarification about which variant is "late" and which is "early". Is there any information about when the wasp stripes were applied? The plain green one appeals but is maybe a bit early for what I might want to model - probably very early 1960s.

Same images here: https://www.Dapol.co.uk/Class-21-29-Decorated-Samples-Have-Arrived I have posted a comment there asking if they could provide pictures of individual locomotives, and better exposed/better lit picture so the bogie and underframe details are clear. I also asked if the glazing was the final product, given the prismatic appearance. Comment is subject to moderation, so lets see if it appears!
  17. Enjoyed my visit. Some really good layouts, including some that are maybe unlikely to be seen this far north too many times. Well worth a visit if you haven’t been yet and can manage today.
  18. Might be worth checking the paper size is set correctly? A friend's printer seemed to always want to revert to US size.
  19. This funding was drawn to my attention today and I thought I would forward it to here, just in case it is of any interest to any model railway clubs or other groups. I have forwarded it directly to the Edininburgh and Lothians MRC as I understand they are on the lookout for new premises. I have also sent it the AMRSS. https://www.scotrail.co.uk/about-scotrail/scotrail-community/stations-community-regeneration-fund
  20. A couple of images currently on ebay from seller trotskeetravel. Described as Harwich but presumably Hawick? D5317 Harwich 1963 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362686814355?_trksid=p11021.c100851.m5053&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20170803121420%26meid%3D778aa3d6ecec4b7b90575fc5aa7ee34c%26pid%3D100851%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D4%26b%3D1%26sd%3D372696258115%26itm%3D362686814355&ul_noapp=true D22 Harwich 1963 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372696258600?_trksid=p11021.c100851.m5053&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20170803121420%26meid%3D778aa3d6ecec4b7b90575fc5aa7ee34c%26pid%3D100851%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26b%3D1%26sd%3D372696258115%26itm%3D372696258600&ul_noapp=true Obviously only available to view for a short time, but the second one in particular seems a rather different view? And therefore all the more interesting for that. Hope of interest. And that I haven't upset any potential buyers by making their availability a bit wider known!
  21. Thanks for heads up and link. It says it is between junctions 10 and 11, which looks to be the length over the Friarton Bridge, so, if coming from the south, then the part just after junction 10, where you turn off for Perth city centre. I suppose there could be lane reductions in advance of 10 to get down to the space needed for the necessary contra-flow for the works.
  22. Early engineering samples illustrated in latest Hornby “Engine Shed” update: https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/news/the-engine-shed/mk3-sd-new-vans-engineering-samples
  23. They had some double deck ones near me until quite recently. Pretty sure it was one flight of steps within the length of the building, but the door might have been in a different place to yours. If you google double deck portakabins and switch to images you will find some like what you have done. The supports for the landing for some seemed very lightweight. I did look briefly at the proper portakabin website but didn’t immediately see any images that might help, but it might be worth a more in-depth exploration. Hope of some assistance!
