      yes, I'm getting full page ads when i sign in for first time each day. Way more annoying than the banner ads and literally of no relevance to me as current ones trying to sell me laptops for university - 25 years too late

    Found myself in the town of Haworth today, it seems to be a little town in Yorkshire that is set in the 1950s.

     

    First went to a pub where I had a beef stew with dumplings, then to an old sweet shop a'top of t'hill, then a walk near the cemetary where all I could hear were birds and sheep.

     

    Thing is, if you closed your eyes you could hear steam engines whistling and chuffing away in the distance, very strange, very strange indeed.   Mrs W told me to forget about the imaginary train noises and focus on the countryside.....

      Lovely town and some great pubs but beware, some of them have guest rooms that spin (i couldn't possibly comment on my inebriation). Walking legs recommended for those damn big hills.

    Axle-breaking potholes on the M6 in the roadworks to 'upgrade' to a 'Smart Motorway'. Nice to see someone has got their priorities right!

      The upgrade includes full resurfacing to give a 6 year maintenance free window as a reward to customers. Patch repairs will be the responsibility of Kier as the main contractor during the road works. You can email Highways England to register your displeasure.

      bought from a grocery store (Tesco, Sainsburys etc) so it must be grocery. Same as those 55" TVs and pairs of Jeans I guess :-)

    When faced with using public lavatorial facilities that have clearly inadequate provision for drying ones hands, what do you do? Grab an extra load of bog paper to deal with the matter? Rush across the road to a handy homeware store and purchase a cheap towel? Wave your hands about vigourously and blow on them for about half an hour? All of the above? Some of the above? None of the above? Or would you rather neither confirm nor deny what you do/would do/might do?

    Today we drove for the first time on the much-vaunted 'South Devon Link Road', a whole 1.5 miles or so of new dual carriageway, better described as the 'Kingskerswell By-Pass'. It's taken ages to build, and the local politicians will dine out on their association with it for years to come.
