  1. I wonder, had the vehicle been stolen? Dave
  2. Talking of optional extras my Father's first car was a 1959 Standard Ten bought in 1963. The heater was an optional extra and not fitted by the original owner. After the first winter a heater was fitted. Luckily my Mother ran the accounts office of the main dealer so was able to have it done at staff price. Dave
  3. Andy, Go to Amazon and put in "Fluxite" No shortage of products, I bought a tin a couple of years ago, Regards, Dave
  4. If I remember correctly National Insurance Stamps and Graduated Pension contributions stopped about 1974 or 1975 to be replaced by the current N.I. system So nobody under ~ 55 would have paid "stamps". Dave
  5. Mike, I think DRLs have been compulsory on cars registered since March 2011 IIRC Dave
  6. Rick, Would it be possible for you to show some overall photos of the layout please? I've actually no idea of its size. Regards, Dave
  7. Surely it needs a few scorch marks and peeling paint where a previous hirer has set light to rubbish in it! Merry Christmas, Dave
  8. Been to Church, SWMBO has given me cash to spend on the railway, can smell the turkey cooking. So a Merry Christmas to you all when I raise my glass of sherry later.

  9. Talking of Cardiff model shops don't forget "The Model Shop" in Mill Lane - the premises eventually become Cardiff's first sex adult shop. Dave
  10. Barry, Peter did tell me, IIRC an accident with a tram ??? Dave
  11. Peter Lord told me recently that he had a part time job there at one time - yes I remember Bud Morgan - he was also a member of Cardiff Camera Club and apparently used a Hasselblad despite only having one hand - I think he may have lost the other in an accident. Dave
  12. If memory serves me correctly it was Platform 5 but I may well be wrong! Dave
  13. Chris, IIRC you were going to buy the new expensive Cardiff Trolleybus book - bought mine in Lord & Butler a few weeks ago - I thoroughly recommend it as the pictures show some of the background as well as the buses themselves. On page 81 you will find the picture includes a lorry with sacks and a couple of blokes sat on top of them - imagine the H & S mob today! Regards, Dave
  14. Bought it today Peter! How are you keeping? Warmest Regards, Dave
  15. Talking to somebody about schools today. He told me his school was so rough even the rats carried flick knives :) Well it tickled my sense of humour anyway. Dave
  16. Ian, You need to be careful, I have no idea of French Law, but if my memory serves me correctly in English Law a will is invalidated when you marry unless it is made in the expectation of the marriage. I may be wrong here it's over 40 years since I studied Executorship and Trusteeship Regards, Dave
  17. Ivan, Please excuse my ignorance but why the stockings? Does Bill wear them all the time? Regards, Dave
  18. Interesting to hear the problems some of you have in seeing a doctor. Our surgery still operates appointments in the afternoon and you may have to wait a couple of weeks to see a particular doctor. However the morning surgery is a drop in one, arrive between 08:30 and 10:30 and you will be seen. Monday is a nightmare but it isn't too bad most of the week. Went on a Wednesday about 09:00 three weeks ago, asked if I could see Doctor X who I knew was on duty. Yes says the receptionist, there are seven in front of you - saw him 50 minutes later and was back on the street with antibiotics in just over an hour after my arrival. Regards, Dave
  19. Your wish is my command Mike http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3875002/Brrrrr-itain-braced-big-freeze-Long-cold-winter-ice-blizzards-weeks-snow-set-arrive-month.html Regards from Cardiff sitting in front of the gas fire, Dave
  20. Hello Rod, Only just found this thread and enjoying it immensely, Could you show some pictures of the overall layout and fiddleyard please? Thanks, Dave
  21. See you tomorrow & Sunday! Cheers, Dave
  22. Just travelled behind a van proclaiming "GDB Heating". Is Granddad Bob moonlighting as a heating engineer in Cardiff? Dave
