Whoosh! Now that was a proper race - plenty of action and intrigue. Not to mention that the Stewards behaved. This is what we want please, more! One other thing, when will Monsieur Gasly get his P.45 at Red Bull?

    Roy Jackson

Sad, sad news this. I have some wonderful memories of Roy from years ago, his honest opinions could be blunt to some but you knew it was genuine, good or bad. The layouts he was involved with, all those locomotives and the masterpiece, Retford. All are testament to his skills and frankly those skills should be celebrated and remembered. Our hobby is poorer on Roy's passing...

I would love to ken what is happening in the Ferrari garage at the moment. The #1 (?) driver is behaving like a spoilt child. The new, quick and younger driver keeps getting dumped on. Then you have a car which appears to have rather large weaknesses which keep mucking things up. The future weeks will have some significant entertainment value...

Once more, "The German" had cracked under pressure and reacted dangerously without any regard for the consequences. Sadly, his continued misdemeanors and bleating just make him look all the more ridiculous as time goes on. The incident could have resulted in a big accident and then what? Vettel has become an embarrassment for Ferrari; in Leclerc they have a diamond with which to move forwards. I hope the FIA clobber Vettel after his antics, post-race. We do not need childish, immature behavior frankly!

Having digested Sundays race, I am now convinced that Ferrari seem hellbent on favouring "The German..." However, how long can this go on if Leclerc keeps showing just how quick, competitive and motivated he is? Frankly, if they had been on the ball, they could have got Leclerc in for new tyres a lot quicker. In doing so, he would almost certainly have been in the mix with the Mercedes cars. As for the others? I'm intrigued by McLaren slowly getting back into things. In the right circumstances, I can see a podium for them - the beast is stirring...
  10. You can see them at work in a couple of weeks...
  11. St. Helens fan here for my travails. They just seem unable to actually win the bloody trophies these last few years. Yes topping the league is great but please... Can you must get too and win a grand final... I don't go to matches these days because of my health but Knowsley Road was a place I loved - the popular sides very west end. Some great memories of great players and great games, I just wish you could get more games on the TV. I refuse to have anything to do with Sky...
  12. Fantastic beastie Ian. Nice to see a proper BZ appear.
  13. Just a ‘heads-up’ for anyone who can’t be bothered to get out the scalpel and filler… One of the above discussed sealed-beam bodyshells has turned up on a certain well-known online auction site. This body style certainly seems to be in demand and there is still a few days to go!
  14. About time too. I trust that this is the beginning of a trend, some retools and retooled reintroductions would go down rather well...
  15. A wee visit beckons using those bendy-linos and all the way frae Warrington... First time since 2006 so I am looking forward to the show and the confusion as my wife tries to understand the local patter. Tickets booked and train tickets obtained today, I'm looking forwards to the show.

Having followed your Facebook page for sometime, 'tis nice to see you break cover. This really is an excellent layout with some very well done modelling - bravo...
  17. Statements like that are always going to be a double edged sword. Certainly got me dribbling.....
  18. I have been remiss in not giving the reference for the CLC van built by the MR I mentioned. It is actually the Railway Modeller for June 1983, page 228 – the article is titled “Vans for Cheshire Lines…” David Goodwin produced an article on how to make 10T MR vans from the Slaters 8T kits – of course Slaters then brought out the blasted thing as a kit anyhow! In it he explains and illustrates the CLC variant built in 1908 by the MR, including the brake gear and axleboxes . The fount of all things CLC was Bob Miller; HMRS articles are worth trying to find. However, the LNER Society hhas recently republished these articles, not all of which I presently have.
  19. CLC wagon stock was provided in the main by the constituent companies - MR,GCR(MSLR) & GNR... The relevant Tatlow volumes list the stock built and when. Obviously, the Essery MR books cover the relevant stock they built. Articles on modelling CLC stock written by David Goodwin are to be found in the Railway Modeller from the mid 1980's.
