  1. Its worth the trouble Paul Abbotswood box has all the kit internally including lighting - very happy with it Phil
  2. Name came from Lister factory at Dursley which was on one of the branches the Gloucester locos served Allegedly it was named using an actual nameplate from a Lister product Phil
  3. Hi folks Perhaps I might stretch the envelope a bit? The Gloucester based locos made it to Worcester and although I have no evidence I suspect over to Newlands PW depot. They also appeared at Bromsgrove on PW workings when the layout was remodelled in the late 60s. Oxford wasn't adverse to using its allocation as substitutes on other workings either - there are web reports that one made it over the Cotswold line to Worcester on a Class 1 working - good job it was going down hill! - and another to New Street dragging a failed DMU. Cheers Phil
  4. That would be jolly kind matey thank you! Blank Loksound chips are down to £80 now at SWD - must be the strong pound! Phil
  5. Nice work Paul! Could you bring that one down next time you can get to abbotswood - would love to try it around our curves before doing the same myself to our fleet Perhaps D6992 could double head with - D6992 Cheers Phil
  6. My pre-order is with Rails - haven't heard from them yet Phil
  7. You have a vivid imagination Mr E-W!!!! And yup have been tempted by that too Kevin....watch this space! Phil
  8. Most likely D855 Triumph I expect Mike ! Phil
  9. The diffuse lighting in that shot makes it very different! Can see why you like it Trevor - is super photo Cheers Phil
  10. Reading through the above posts the thoughts echo mine RMweb has inspired me, answered questions, made me new friends and keeps me on a steady course with my modelling Some very kind comments about informing and inspiring others also come to mind but I rather think that to date I have been a net 'taker' rather than giver. The resources on here are amazing - prototype information, particularly as I model the narrow era 1968-72, and modelling tips and hints have saved time and no doubt improved output. Andy many many thanks to you and the team. My railway life would be infinitely poorer without this resource Raising a glass to the next 10 years! Phil
  11. Sorry to hear Mum had to test the facilities at Fazackerley - hope all OK now? OHLE will definitelt test your sanity! Have a look at Dagworths Ravensclyffe thread if you haven't already seen it CHeers Phil
  12. No wonder parcels arrived damaged! Hee hee Phil
  13. Just awesome! Many many thanks for sharing Phil
  14. Paul Do not lose your achievement! No layout is ever perfect - they are all models - what you have to do is get to a point YOU are happy with. If others share your view - and plenty on here do - then that reinforces your thoughts The overall effect is what always matters to me - and for heavens sake this LOOKS like a railway. If you genuinely think that moving to a more accurately scale track will improve matters then of course that's your prerogative but - what a waste of effort, although anything you learn as you go will always stand you in good stead for the next one. How do you plan to do the wiring? What would you use for OHLE portals? Cheers Phil
  15. Mmm .... seems like a nice place....!!! Phil
  16. Cracking picture Peter but - - sorry folks! Certainly was regular practice on all other northbound trains - but not 1M22! It was the one train likely to produce a Wizzo north of Gloucester and was a pretty solid turn 71 - 4 although once 50s appeared they worked up to Brum on it too. 71/2 1002 or 1022 seemed to have a monopoly when I saw it through Worcester - we used to bunk off school just to see it, was the 10.55 Plymouth to Liverpool Lime Street at this time. Been through BTM today en route to Exeter and was gazing wistfully at the remnants of the roads that led on to the shed - access now blocked by a fence and a building site where all those wonderful locos once stood. Cheers Phil
  17. Hi Pixie That is a book of sheer poetry. As soon as I saw the BBEs I guessed it was the Llandeilo Junction - Langley Green it referred to. Just need someone to do Bobol Es ... please Shall get on to my friend Stewart Blencowe - http://www.stewartblencowe.co.uk/- no connection other than a very happy customer - and see if he can track down a copy. Cheers Phil
  18. That's a special photo Neil ! Very nice too, but headcode looks bizarre Kind regards Phil
  19. Great stuff Pixie! What year was that please And whats that mention of BBEs too? As for mention of Hymeks nothing apropos this train but WTTs tended to quote loads/timings for all classes of credible power on the WR even if they never appeared - and a Hymek on MGRs? Whoops no air brakes there then! Cheers Phil
  20. Nice sightings Neil - sorry to go OT on this wonderful thread! Kind regards Phil
  21. Brian my 71/72 wtt concurs with yours so that's good news! Andy that's great gen thank you - and nice to know I only need a few cokes, not a whole train - and from the look of the shot Brian has linked to not all the coke was in coke hoppers....!!!! Cheers both Phil
  22. That's OK - already have 6601 and 6885 headcoded up for those workings! How come the loadeds were class 8 but the empties class 6? Surely they would have needed to be fitted for a class 6? Cheers Phil
  23. Hee hee cheers Brian I don't have a cheque book - as EnterprisingWestern will testify SWMBO's comes out when I need a cheque.... Looking at this thread http://emgauge70s.co.uk/project_cokehops.htmlI wonder if scratchbuilding the bodies on to PD chassis might be an option? Cheers Phil
  24. NOTE:- the Coke Hopper coupled to D9502 appears to bear the 'PENSNETT' branding applied to those wagons with modified hopper doors that worked between Llantrisant and Kingswinford (for Pensnett) carrying foundry coke for Lunt, Comley & Pitt. Brian R Oh no! Does that mean I need a train of coke hoppers too for Abbotswood???? Phil
