  3. I have worked out that mu model of 5532, small prairie that I origonally built in 1976, has had a longer working life than the real one, built 1928, scrapped 1962. OK, I know it has been resurrected, but it's an interesting comparison.

    1. Mikkel

      Mikkel

So the question is: Is your model now more real than the prototype?!

  4. I haven't seen a policeman around here this year, I don't think I saw one last year either. So how is it I get a speeding fine not a quarter of a mile from here?

Mostly round here I sit in queues.

    4. DCB

      DCB

What would you rather do, hand out speeding fines to nice ordinary motorists or deal with real criminals who beat up old ladies and small children? Hence the attention on mobile phones since most people stopped boozing and speeding

  5. I passed my driving test over 40 years ago, but just did the online practice theory test - Passed even though I did no revision!!!

I failed hazard perception until I learned to count to 3 after seeing the hazard before responding. The test is a total waste of time.

    3. Londontram

      Londontram

Oh I don't know at least we've established you can count to three

    4. Mad McCann

The whole point is to get people thinking about potential hazard situations and driving accordingly. Sadly, too many just get the licence and forget the lot in my experience.

  6. I was saying to Captain Kernow only the other day "there are other railways than the S&D", he wouldn't listen....

7/8lb sausages, and don't do it. Any advantages brought by sky (or virgin or any other) are quickly nullified by a lack of interest in celebrity driven "yoof" telly.

    3. Horsetan

      Horsetan

I remember when I tried Sky. Instead of five channels of terrestrial crap, I suddenly had a choice of over 400 channels of satellite crap.

No you end up with emails saying how much you can save with this that and the other.

Plus when you phone them up you get a text asking to do a flameing questionnaire every bleeding time.

It isn't really going far or even anywhere at all. On a good day Mars is only 54.6 million kilometres away but space is infinitely big and 54.6M/infinity is zero so it's still where it started from.

  17. Is then no nook of English ground secure. From rash assault? Wordsworth 1844 on the railway from Kendal to Lake Windermere

  18. Is viewing RMweb on 42" TV screen (not mine I hasten to add)

LOL! 'Wisdom is as Wisdom does'.... and all that! Our local garden centre actually does an acceptable form of fine ground foam for scenic scatter - maybe you have one handy, if you need this stuff on a Sunday?
