Where can I find Part 1?
I wish I knew! I managed to delete it by accident, never to be seen again!

Was rather hoping the mystery bit was the missing part of my push-pull kit for the H class I paid for last December ....lol...

Looks like we're going to need a big "twins-off" supertest to see which are the best!

Can't wait to see it working! (runs for cover.....)

Stunning stuff Peter! What a transformation. Looking forward to the finished loco...

Interesting solution there Matthew. A friend has just done a similar loco in LNER black livery using some very thin cut vinyl strip. (about 0.4mm wide!) turned out very well including boiler bands.

Looks a neat and easy conversion. Sheeted load sounds good!

Nice looking MR signal! Will it be servo operated? MSE do what looks like some nice kit for that now.
Just one more question (says columbo...) If the signal rotates on a fixed axle how does it work the backblinder?

vac brakes on a summers wagon?

Hi John.It is a reduced version of the Warren Shephard kit as you say. Does the hopper body on the 7mm version need sectioning as the 4mm one does?I'll be taking my time and doing a lot of checking and rechecking before soldering the hopper up solid!Paul.
I didn't cut it but maybe that was part of the problem!! I have 2 more to build so I'll make more investigations as to why it didn't square up so easily.

Hi Paul. I've built a couple of the 7mm versions. (I take it these are a reduced version of the Warren Sheppard kit?) The hopper was a ****** to get square and my first attempt wasn't quite!
Looking at your excellent work so far, I'm sure you've got it sussed but it's just something to watch out for. When I came to fit my first hopper to the chassis, even though it looked square (as did my chassis) it pulled the chassis out of line and a slight "compromise" had to be accepted (grrr).

Looks "bob-on". Nice work David!

Ian,
This looks interesting as each module is quite small. It could be used for controlling semaphore signals as well.
I hope you don't mind but for those who are interested, I have included a link to the item you are using in this reply.

Keep up the good work!

Dinghams; hook and loop on each end of small locos, back end of big 'uns and just hooks on each end of fixed rakes. Hooks on one end of each brake van with rakes of wagons tacked in between. Also about a dozen odd wagons with couplings each end just to knock about in the sidings.
Uncoupling by permanent magnet only.
They seem ok so far....

Hi Richard, it's enamels all the way. Railmatch concrete and then a mucky mix of Humbrol matt blacks beiges and browns dragged over the lumpy bits. I usually use up the last bits of mix drybrushing over the bits that are still a bit bright.

There's still a bit to do on the cottage Iain, and theres a gantry to put back which will be up against the bridge, and a banner repeater to go on the new loop line for a hidden signal just beyond the bridge.
I'll have a look at Newton Jc, but I think any box that goes in the gap will have either a GW or LNW top to it
Cheers

S'funny, a few people, well a lot....well everyone has said that !

Terrific! How did you get the stone colour to look 'just right'? Is there a wash of white applied after the initial dark colours?
Hi Pete,
I paint the whole lot with Railmatch "concrete" colour or similar, allow to dry for a day, then mix up a brew of matt black/leather/brown and scrub it across the raised stone in a diagonal direction both up and down, and in both axis. This way it catches the raised areas but not the mortar courses. If it still looks too bright, dry brush it with the same browny mix over the bright bits. After it has dried you can go back over with a dry brush of matt black or even matt dark green in places. Try it on a bit of scrap stone card until you're happy with it. The whole paint job took about 10 mins for the cream and 20 mins for the dark colour.
I'll have to do the rest of the retaining wall to match now!.
If you look at the Saltney gallery pics of Astley Bridge station area you can see I've had a bit of practise...

Lost my mojo under a load of modelling jobs for other people last year. Once I had decided to knock the commissions on the head for a bit (all of 2011 to be precise) I was OK.
It will be back..
