Which 5 is this? Grand sounding whistle though, but it needs to be on something bigger and dare I say more impressive than a Hiker.

Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns, an amalgamaition of Robert Stephenson and Hawthorn Leslie, made GWR Pannier tanks at one time in the 1930s/ 40s

did you know Vodaphone made steam locos too? when they started about 20 years ago they were known as Hawthorne Leslie Communications, later changing their name to Vodaphone! and the people who empty the "sanitary towel units" used to run trams? they are owned by BET, British Electric Traction!

It's a 12 hour Sunday, way too expensive to give up as I don't get paid for it if I give it up. Any weekday or saturday turn, paid leave or sick pay...wouldn't give it a 2nd thought!!

My late father's family were from Sheffield and if we visited (60s/70s), it was either the 'Hammer & Pincers' (Bents Green), or one of my uncles would take us out to 'The Barrel' Inn at Bretton (just out into Derbyshire), for a pre-Sunday lunch 'aperitif'. Just looked them up on line and boy, have they changed since then!

  15. Nice day today..Warley, sat with Steve Hewitt and talked signals, sat and learnt how to use a resistance soldering iron, did a bit of rivet punching on Jamie's gGreen Ayre stand, picked up some commisioned signal gantry etches and managed to escape without wounding the bank balance too badly. Got home to find my Locomotion L&Y radial tank had been delivered. Only spoiler was not making it to 'spoons for a pint with some RMWebbers coz of having to dash back for nightshift...
