Well, the railway career has been somewhat short lived, after 6 months at SWR it's back to my old job. Going to deeply miss the work and the people, however I'll be clamouring to go back when I can!

Cheers for kind words. All is okay(ish), just a bit gutting to have to give up something you've wanted to do for a long time. Nothing sinister behind it fortunately and left on good terms, it all boiled down to money which was just too good where I currently work, something which is sorely needed when trying to get on the property ladder! When you can, go for it. You'll thoroughly enjoy it!

Well, that's it. Last day at Southern Water, and a shame to leave the team behind. Got two weeks off and then start swinging spanners for SWR, can't wait!

Got the job with SWR! Get to go play with the real thing now, can't wait!

Got a 4 hour job interview and assesment with SWR next Friday. Wasn't expecting that!

Passed 47727 stood outside Craigentinny. Has now gained Caledonian Sleeper branding and looks to have been named Edinburgh Castle. Naming ceremony soon?

The guys behind the new Audi advert knew what they were doing, didn't they?

All layouts arrived and got set up this evening ready for tomorrows exhibition. I can sleep soundly tonight!

Vehicle tax renewal come through, nearly £50 a month! Ouch!

Thank God my week on call is over. Contemplating ripping the lid off this 5 litre mini-keg and putting a straw in it.

Do people seriously not know how to use roundabouts anymore?! Second (minor this time) accident on one in 4 weeks. Silly old pr!ck straight lined his lane, wanders into mine and side swipes the front of my car, then has the absolute cheek to blame me saying I drove into his lane! My bloods still boiling about it now!

A mug of Twinings hot chocolate with a couple of marshmallows floating in it. Pure bliss on a cold evening like this!

My run of luck with vehicles continues! Managed to write my works van off Tuesday, thanks to an HGV that pulled across my path at a roundabout. Was good of him to drive off without stopping too!

Found out how low the air intake on the car is. Too low evidently...

According to my insurance company, I was involved in an 'incident' and a claim has been made. Amazing considering I never drove it the week the claim was made.

Soon to be throwing fuel economy out the window with the arrival of a nice big V8!

Has a fancy for a car with a nice big V8.

Currently drive a Chrysler 300C V6 CRD, which isn't bad on fuel but would be happy with something a bit less economical! Got a van provided by work so not as if it's going to be adaily driver! I'd love another 300C with a 6.1 Hemi but need an estate for practicality and they're uncommon and a bit more than I could afford. Fancy an SUV too! A Volvo XC90 or Jeep Grand Cherokee fit the bill but a Mercedes ML420 CDI (or ML63!) is also on the list! If money was...

The time has come to share the joke, that the latch on the bathroom door is broke.

Painting Heljan Class 58 grilles. What utter tedious work. Still, only another 47 to go and then that side is done! And then start on the other loco and do another 94 of them...

Walking the fields of Hamble, hunting valves in the rain.

Welp, the latest Windows 10 software update has absolutely knackered my desktop. It's been on for nearly 2 hours and I've only just got the Control Panel open...

Well, the deskptop was upgraded from 7 when 10 became available. I used it as a Guinea Pig, as my main machine is a laptop. The deskptop has run fine, bar the odd freeze up of Firefox, and for the last month has been running brilliantly. But since getting an update on Sunday (which took nearly 5 hours to do!), the whole thing is totally unstable and takes several minutes to do anything simple. The laptop is still running 7, I've had no updates come through as yet to go to 10.

Pretty pleased that the motor is doing 42mpg. Not too shabby for a 3.0 V6 diesel in a car that weighs 2 tons!
