  1. Hmm, I think my attempt at a faded roof on the Dapol GBRf 73 may need redoing. A bit too much Sky Blue in the mix I think!

  2. Enjoying the new Suede album.

Was it made from a pair of your old shoes?

  3. Welp, looks like the Merc is going nowhere soon. Can't remove the injectors and broke one of the plastic fiitings on the fuel return system. Fun times!

The plastic tubes are very brittle after a while and there's not a lot you can do but replace them, but the injectors will come out, you just need brute force and the bolts will undo, then just make sure you retrieve the copper washers ( gaskets).

      SWT442

Aye, that's the plan. Was surprised how brittle the plastic was, took no effort to break. I'll have another crack today, there's a bit of play on the injectors so hopefully they'll budge with patience or ignorance!

  4. Being on-call is alright. I mean, until you actually get called out, then it's not so good.

  6. Pre-ordered a Dapol GBRf 73. Think the last time I pre-ordered something was when Hornby first released their 60's!

I agree classic car all the way! Ok my Orion is not tax exempt (my landi is but it's not terribly economical And as for my BMW well we won't talk about the mpg on that !!!l ) but the Orion is ace. as it's a 1.4 it's only I think

  9. Managed 3 months at the new job before my first cock-up! Went to open the drain valve on a hot water calorifer, only to find the pipe it attached to was totally corroded out. Result was one flooded plantroom with 60c water and the office downstairs complianing of a few ceiling leaks. I guess I get to see how their incident reporting system works...

  10. Man, cars are expensive. Damn Chrysler cost me just shy of a grand to get through its MOT! And that was just for tyres and brakes...

Tyres are 225/60 all round on 18" alloys. I've had budgets before but after spinning a car in the wet due to it having no grip, I don't go for them now. Good set of brakes is a hundred quid for the front discs alone. Hey ho, joys of car ownership!

As one who never has had to work on such holidays I would like to echo muddy-blues comment that your work is very appreciated by many even if it is not often spoken out loud. Thanks to all who do the jobs that must still be done at these times.

I guess my Christmas isn't as disruptive as other people's are, although still not much fun. I still get to spend it with family, rather than be away altogether, although I can't quite join in with the merriment! Here's to those were it's just another working day.

I sympathise with you. One job I had many people here would consider a dream job. It was for the first year and a half. We were only a small team. Then the 'good half' left in fairly quick succession. I spent the next seven years wanting out. Marriage, kids and mortgage meant I had to stay put. I really feel for anyone who finds work such a rut, especially in the present work climate.

  23. Spent 4 days up North and saw 66109 every single day... Barnetby continuously on coal, Stainforth on oil & Stenson Jn on steel. 250 of the damn things and I see the same one!
