  1. Great modelling, lovely layout! Alastair M
  2. Really looking forward to this. How about that 04 Dave? Best wishes, Alastair M
  3. And those ROD 2-8-0s in N....
  4. This is a great layout, beautifully observed and modelled. I love the sense of space. Encore! Best wishes, Alastair M
  5. Crikey! In lieu of a Saint, I'd love to see one of your Hall's on that rake with the excellent C54 on it, or is that too specific? Addict M
  6. That is a magnificent locomotive. Surely any manufacturer producing a decent quality model of one of these would be virtually guaranteed profit, at the very least? I'm not a good or experienced enough modeller to build one out of a SE Finecast kit or similar. Please help. Alastair M
  7. Anybody who produced a decent quality Saint or 43xx would be on to a winner I reckon..... 4mm and 2. Regards, Alastair M
  8. I'm sure it's been mentioned, but as Bachmann haven't done it, what about a 43xx to the standard of the King and 48xx? Alastair M
  9. An O4 in n would sell to GWR, LNER, BR and a whole lot of other people as well. C'mon Dave you know you want to.
  10. Director, J11 or O4 would be easy, an A5, a Sam or Lord Farringdon surprising but excellent. Valour for 2018? Alastair M
  11. Fantastic modelling Colin - seen together they exude late '60s, early '70s workaday SR character by the bucket-load. I'd love to catch up with the 2014 tour at some point..... Congratulations, Alastair M
  12. Goodness me Colin, that looks excellent. Can we expect some pics of the whole unit? Alastair M
  13. Dave, I've already asked for an n gauge 04/ROD (seen all over the UK, tons of liveries, world wide variants, Syria, China, Australia, France, Belgium and WW1 model tie in possibilities). As others seem to be doing lists, could I suggest that a GCR tender unit would then enable: D9, D10, D11 (Union Mills make one I know), J11, (UM do it, but it is hard work to detail and/or update) and particularly, the J10 Any of the GC 4-6-0s . It would have to be a GC tender, with perhaps another version for the ROD. Just think of some of the liveries you could do.... Mr Pixels of this parish is busy producing GCR N gauge stock including matchboard mainline and suburban coaches. A final request would be a C13 - an n gauge r-t-r 4-4-2, wonderful. My first J94 is on order...... it could be commitment if any of the above were forthcoming! :-) Best wishes Alastair M
  14. Colin, I have absolutely no proper evidence for suggesting this, but when you said 'The 4 SUB's driver's door windows need slight enlargement' have you checked that the HAL is correct or that they should be the same size? I only ask because I remember the driver's windows on SUBs as pokey little things and the SUB looks so right? Best wishes, Alastair M
  15. An n gauge 04/ROD would get my vote and my money, and it would of course set you (and me :-) ) up for a J10, J11, D10, D11 and any of the GC 4-6-0s..... oh and of course a C13...... Very good luck with it all, Alastair M
  16. Colin, As one who dabbled in ship modelling for a while, I would completely agree with the sentiments expressed above. Even where you may have a good or even original plan of an 'as built' vessel, by the time it has seen service for any length of time, the chances of it being modified start to rise. If you are talking about a class of vessels, this can apply, as can the further complication that ammendments may be made, even as further units are being built, after operational experience, new, modified equipment added etc. If we are talking about bits of railway equipment, again built over time, modified, batch built by different contractors - all this occurs before we even get to ongoing maintenance, repair, upgrading etc etc. Moral: photographic evidence is every bit as necessary and potentially even more important when building good, or in your case, great models. Best wishes, Alastair M
  17. Jason the latest batch of photographs are superb. Adding the buildings behind the station will add yet more atmosphere. The place oozes it already, but I can't wait to see the new backdrop in place. It's a tour de force! But where's Elsie (don't forget the headscarf)? Congratulations, Alastair M
  18. Excellent work Jason and couldn't agree more about pre-grouping locos - this after all was a workaday freight engine, but surely one of the best looking 0-6-0s ever? And doesn't it look at home?? :-) Best wishes, Alastair M
  19. Does anyone know how we can obtain the B6? Alastair M
  20. Colin, I have no idea whether this would work, and not having seen the model in the flesh, I can't tell how thick the sides are, but....... How feasible would it be to take a sharp knife and cut round the toilet window frames and the vents as a rectangular unit, down from the roof strip? if that were possible, you could then take a similar height 1.25mm strip (allowing for lost material) which would probably have one screw head at the bottom and swap them. I could definitely not do this. I only suggest it, because you might be able to? A succession of blades, possibly a wooden support to go inside the body while you do it and absolutely minimal use of filler?? Or am I even more thunk than drinkle peop I am? Best wishes Alastair M
