  1. Coming late to this thread, Kris, what a great concept and already looking very good. There'll be room for some lovely long trains crossing the viaduct. Can't wait!
  2. Hmm, I see that I shall have to plan this carefully. Perhaps I could assume your identity just long enough to use the workshop, grab the lipstick and operate your superb stock for a couple of hours :-)
  3. I want your father in law and your lipstick. Oh wait, that came out wrong. Congratulations on getting this far with the baseboards, Dave. Must be a bit of a milestone, after all the planning. As ever it all looks very neat and well built. I cannot possibly judge "Uffley" as a layout name, since in Danish it sounds like an expression of disgust! So I will leave that to others, but it is certainly a catchy name, I think!
  4. Hi Job, ah this is brilliant. The Northall Gazette is one of my favourite reads - along with the Ambridge Echo by the way :-) I watched a re-run of a Morse episode the other day, and it still stands out as something very special. Quite apart from all that, the building is looking very good. It already has that very special shade of colour that is becoming your "signature", I think.
  5. Hi Chas! It looks fantastic. Can't wait for the nighttime photos!
  6. Adding rivets whilst dripping nasal mucus. Life is full of challenges.

Ew! How can I get that image out of my head now? oO

Success! I shall add this to my CV under "Other accomplishments".

  7. Hi Sasquatch, just returned to this thread and see I've missed a lot great updates. I especially like those evening shots. Great stuff. Glad to hear that Dunster will be back up again in your new house, as you say it would be a real shame to dismantle it for good!
  8. And those inverted springs! Looks like someone had a bit too much to drink the night before designing them :-)
  9. Well those other railway companies can go home now ;-) An interesting comparison, and your Rover build looks very good and neat. Does it run?
  10. Yes, the door is well spotted. Amazing how one thing can add so much to a scene.
  11. Hi Job. Nice to see some photos of your latest RTR purchase. Bachmann have clearly done a good job. Might be room for a bit of detailing though? Jokes aside, this has been a fascinating project to follow, both in terms of the modelling and your description of it. And even a kettle man like me can see that the result is something very very special. Those last two shots are particularly fantastic!
  12. Beautiful work Ian. Wouldn't mind having a nap under it! :-)
  13. Hi Mike, what a great solution, you've gone and improved the kit. Very impressive. Yes, one V hanger should be removed as you have done.
  14. Hi Job, I really like that building. Many people would never even notice a building like that. There is nothing special about the prototype, it is just a building with the windows filled in. But that is exactly why it adds realism to the scene! You have a great eye for capturing things that give an "everyday" look.

Nice find Mikkel, could be very useful for trees indeed! Much quicker than twisting wire anyway!

      There are instructions ? :-)

  17. 10 blogs is certainly...expansive :-) I understand where you're coming from though, it sounds like all those books I've written...the titles of! :-)
  18. Very nice indeed. Some photos and models are so good that a single pic is a whole feast in itself!
  19. Thanks for sharing this, I've been looking at the kits and wondering if I should give them a go (a little late for my period, but very tempting!). They do look good.
  20. Listening to noisy frogs (real ones, not a political comment!)

Yes it can be very nice. Although here it is not a concert but Chaos :-)

  21. I'm sure it will be good. That London alle photo is also very intriguing.
  22. Hi Mike, I agree about the superglue. It's underrated for glueing whitemetal together. I now swear by the gel type, which has a bit of a filling effect and therefore works very nicely for people like me who don't get along so well with fine tolerances :-) I don't recall having problems with mis-aligned axles on the two 3-plankers I've built, so not sure what has made the difference. I usually file the solebar ends as appropriate to ensure a square fit, if that is any help. When I have glued all the sides I sometimes hold the model between all four fingers and tweak it until it is square. Cave-man technology but it works for me :-) Here are some more photos of the first 3-planker I did (although that was built with Araldite): http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/75/entry-6024-3-plank-open-in-gwr-red/ If you decide to go for new W irons the MJT ones are really nice.
  23. Hi Job, very inspirational scenes. That guide sounds useful. I must Google it. The ghost signs will be interesting, you already have some experience with that kind of thing from earlier, I remember.
  24. Happy birthday Mike! Lovely atmosphere as always. It's ironic that the prototype is shiny and the model is a nice and realistic egg-sheel finish. It used to be the other way round :-)
