  1. Noone seems to have seen this yet so here goes https://www.revolutiontrains.com/revolution-goes-nuclear-again/
  2. It only says “provision for DCC sound” above..
  3. Me too!!! I’d prefer this over the first two models announced!
  4. I think the questions are 1. Do you need one for your layout? 2. Do you want one for your layout? 3. Are you prepared to pay a premium to get one (assuming you do not have the skills, time or inclination to scratch build one for yourself) ? If the answer to the above is “all 3”, as in my case, then I think that is sufficient to justify the RRP even if it does not explain what it may actually cost to produce them. The fact that they have/are selling out (at least in the case of the NR version) is surely evidence enough. I do sympathise with anyone who wanted but cannot afford one of these, they have been a long time coming or so it seems. We are all now being faced with hard decisions as to what to pay for and what is not “essential” for us. I have sacrificed purchasing a number of non-essential items so that I can get the stuff that is really the most important to me.
  5. Me too Jim. Shame that the RSS livery 08 is for N gauge or I’d have had one of them too (in 00). Maybe they will do one later in the year…
  6. shame they didn’t do something similar with the recent DCR/Cappagh and GBRF class60s and give them the 21pin socket etc rather than just rolling out the two sub-sector liveries.
  7. The prototype Lion existed before the movie, so I’m guessing Hornby can produce a model of it using original plans (if they exist) or from their own drawings. I simply took Rapidos video as a polite and friendly reminder to potential buyers that they have previously announced their own model and it is (probably) going to be the better one worth waiting for. I personally have no need to purchase either a Hornby or Rapido version as my interest is post 2015, even though I am a fan of the film. Nor am I a collector of anything “collectible” for collecting sake regardless of product quality, features or accuracy. I know there are plenty who are and many who will probably purchase both manufacturers versions if they come to fruition. It will be interesting to see how this story plays out but I wish Rapido every success with their range of Titfield models (which I feel confident are likely to be the most authentic!)
  8. I’ve been waiting for an EMT livery one for ages, having missed the first time around, but I don’t want it from Hornby if the detail parts are no longer going to be included. Unless the 3D printing army come to the rescue again..
  9. Latest versions are now lacking some of the detail pack parts that were previously included, and the mouldings of the internal equipment behind the grills haven’t been painted, bogie steps not painted etc. It seems that it’s slowly being downgraded to “Railroad” level without Hornby explaining or justifying why, ie is it to save the RRP going up even higher than it has to in order to keep up with the production costs or are Hornby just cutting corners because they can until a competitor delivers a better quality offering…
  10. Just been watching last nights programme and wondering why the guy went all the way from Margate to Crewe to look at an HST when the 125 Group’s power cars and coaches at Ruddington and Leicester would have been much closer, not to mention the TOC and off lease HST vehicles in store at other locations. Perhaps 125 Group are working with the hinted at competition (which is therefore likely to be a more accurate product bearing the correct paint colours and sound etc). If Hornby are serious about trying to up their game and improve their current offerings as SK said at the start of the programme I hope they are going to do it properly rather than cutting corners (by checking quality control on incoming products, not omitting important detail parts etc) as has been witnessed a few times now with some of their recent D&E releases.
  11. You really are spoiling some of us now guys! Unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at it) I don’t have a big enough layout to accommodate the full train, even if I could justify the purchase of a Bachmann WCRC 57/3 and their Mk1s to go with them. My only excuses for resisting you this time..! I know plenty do have the room though and they will snap these up!
  12. Unfortunately they cannot have checked the incoming models (or if they did the people checking them didn’t notice) otherwise they could have let customers know (and also retailers) that the parts were missing but would be made available later if required if that is what they intend to do.
  13. So they have admitted it is a mistake but sounds like they have no intention of doing anything about it… Very disappointing (but hardly a surprise).
  14. Could also depend if it’s privately owned running on the mainline or your layout is a heritage line!
  15. Back in the late 80/90s, to me Modern Image meant anything current or within the last couple of years so then it was the Railfreight Grey to Sub-Sector triple grey period. Today that description still fits for me (ie current or within the last couple of years). I just accept the term “modern image” can mean after the end of BR steam but personally do not think of modern image to be all encompassing. The transition period, BR blue era, sectorisation etc are perhaps more useful and clearer perhaps but of course there is still an overlap.
  16. Im still looking forward to Bachmann (hopefully) producing their 57/0 in the more recent DRS Compass livery as per 57002/003/007 - photo added below. ***update*** cl37lg currently have a few sound fitted and DCC ready of 57009 at very good prices on their ebay page!
  17. Based on the poor execution of the recent GBRF class 50s (ie obviously wrong shade of blue, missing snowploughs and etched nameplates) and what Hornby are doing now with the latest class 60 versions (ie cutting corners, omitting detail pack parts) it does not bode well for any new D&E tooling that they might produce. Do we really want them to produce more inferior models? My class 50 is a lovely smooth runner but externally it is a let down out of the box. I hope they can up their game and match the newcomers to the market but there is no current evidence to suggest Hornby want to compete by offering a quality D&E product, or really care beyond the Railroad/train set market or collectors who just buy the box not the product inside it.
  18. You can’t please all the people all the time I know but I would rather drop the “door shut” and “operate light switch” type sounds for functions related to the movement and lighting of the locomotive and/or train.
  19. I quite agree. Whilst it’s nice to be able to sample and play about with the different sounds and functions, the only ones I regularly use are lights on/off, engine start/shutdown and horn(s), drivelock and flange squeal (until it becomes too annoying!). Its too much of a faff having to refer to a list of function numbers every time you swap to another loco as Bachmann and others don’t always use the same F numbers as each other. Now that models are being produced with some class or manufacturer unique features, one class is not necessarily going to have the same type or number of functions as another. Once you have to use a shift key to get an F10- or F20-something function way down the list it becomes far too much trouble. The automatic sounds included on some sound profiles like cooling fans and pumps are great though.
  20. Hi Andy is it possible to filter the content visible in the Trade & Products Area by gauge? I have had a look in my account and settings but haven’t found such an option. Am finding a lot of posts relating to or referencing new N gauge or O gauge products which is just not relevant to me as I’m solely interested in 00 gauge. Just thought I’d ask in case I’ve missed the relevant box I may need to tick. I appreciate that certain manufacturers and retailers are producing models in more than one scale.
  21. Thanks guys, speaking as one of those present day enthusiasts! This was a very nice surprise and have already put my pre-order in.
  22. I was going to get the sound fitted version of Bachmanns 779 Evening Star but when I saw it myself in the last couple of years all the BR insignia etc are so heavily faded now that it would be incorrect looking ex-works on my layout even if it was weathered. It looked really drab (not just grubby), possibly not obvious from my snap.
  23. I might buy a West Coast or ROG livery one (although the latter have recently been sold/gone elsewhere).
  24. Comment on page 35 of September 2021 Hornby Magazine says that, quote, “..Hattons has responded to feedback to its Class 66s and confirmed to Hornby Magazine that it has taken steps to ensure future batches will have the faults rectified.” It doesn’t say when Hattons confirmed this to HM but it seems to suggest that there will be further batches in the future. Hopefully this is the case and fingers crossed that the next batche(s) will address the issues.
