  1. You could make the job slightly quicker if you have access to a router with a laminate trimmer. Set so that the bearing on the trimmer runs along the track bed you could make sure the entire pier section is level with it.
  2. Tentative creative railway photo. Lichen on a concrete railway boundary fence at the Bluebell Railway.
  3. Trainspotting Approaching Imberhorne cutting on the Bluebell Railway.
  4. Smashing job. Even now what a difference from the starting product. Ditto Beast above.
  5. Lovely build for those signals. I saw Waton at the Epsom show earlier this year. Very impressive. If it helps with the MkIII build, Express Models do some micro LED's 1mm x 0.5mm with leads attached. They can be found at Express Models. All the best Andy
  6. Many thanks for the link Ian. It made for an interesting read. They really do look good after they have been painted and weathered. Definitely food for thought, but if anyone else has experience of them i'd be interested in reading about them.
  7. Before I start laying 'acres' of Das clay to create my harbour scene with track inset into stone setts, has anyone had any experience, short or long term, with the new Spanish texture sheets from Redutex. In particular their stone sett sheets. Are they easy to cut accurately? How thick are they? How good is the self adhesive backing? I though I had seen in one of Andy Y's posts the corner of one of these sheets lifting on the BCB layout. So far all the 'blurb' I have read about them from the two importers claim they are realistic and that once the adhesive goes off they are near impossible to get off without damaging the surface below. If I thought these, in any way, gave a better finish than clay and would be more durable I would seriously think about using them instead of the Das.
  8. So the grand design with devondynosoar118 and Kingsbridge to Brent then onto the Royal Albert has gone out of the window then . Seriously though this project is looking really good and I look forward to seeing pictures of the completed layout.
  9. Why is it I never have enough money in the bank when a model railway show comes round. Things to buy, never enough to spend. :-(

  11. I will be really interested to see how you solved the signal arm operation as that is what I am struggling on in my build. My initial thought was to use the route indicator rockers to operate the arm and then use a small lightweight spring to return the arm to danger. As always the workmanship is fantastic and this thread is a great source of encouragement to keep having a go. All the best Highlandman
  12. Bluebell Railway workshops Well it was a BIG spanner......
  13. No modelling this weekend. London Sevens at Twickenham. So far there's been some great rugby. Hopefully the same again tomorrow.

      Does Erica Rowe still exist?

  14. I really do hate it when online retailers can not be bothered to put product pictures on their sites. It's a bit like walking in to a shop and looking around with your eyes shut.

  15. I saw the layout at Epsom this weekend and the crossing appeared to be working very well. It certainly made the exit curves look a lot easier. A wonderful model. Many thanks for taking the time to chat Dave. Here are some pictures.
  16. Your work, as ever, is immaculate and an inspiration. I hope your trip to Dortmund goes okay and that Lime Street is well received. I look forward to your future GWR builds, especially the route indicators. Keep up the great work.
  17. Did Dr. Beeching get it wrong. Interesting item on BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21938349

Michael Palin mentions the closure of the great central. It wasn't part of the beeching axe, He said it should be kept open.

  18. Good to see Portchullin at Ally Pally this weekend. It's the first time I've seen it running with steam. Here's a few photographs I took, some doctored, some not. Hope you like them Mark. All the best.
  19. My modelling mojo keeps playing hide-and-seek, and I keep losing.

Hang in there. Try to do little stuff. Nothing too taxing (or financially costly! :) ). Breathe. You're amongst friends. We understand. :)

  20. Not sure if this should be in jokes or the Railway people thread, but here goes.
  21. Not good to hear about the damaged stock, but the layout with the new track is looking fantastic.
