  1. On mine the shunting lights are on at both ends permanently as it runs along which is how it should be. I agree handling is tricky - I am resorting to lifting it carefully using the 4 steps at each end of the loco...
  2. Got my blue ones today Lovely model in terms of shape, flush glazing etc, can't really fault it (apart from the horrible thick arrows of indecision they have applied - so that needs removing and replacing with Fox ones) BUT, I really do think they should be somewhat more controllable at low speed (in particular as they are a shunting loco). They run smoothly once going but starting off from stationary is a bit too jerky for my liking. Maybe it will perform better on DCC? but I have my doubts somewhat. The Dapol 08 is a much smoother runner and a fraction of the price.
  3. Just for your info....?...… I tried to email your 7mm@kmsrailtech.co.uk with a few more details but got a message back saying Delivery Status Failure (address not found)…..so if you don't think you are getting many email replies....
  4. Excellent news An HST and some Mk2d/e/f coaches for my Deltic to pull. Yes please! Best wishes with this project - you will sell loads of the above.
  5. That is excellent news An HST and some coaches for my Deltics to pull. Time to save up!
  6. I hadn't seen those articles - can anyone explain the detail behind how to do this potential solution?
  7. Yes I agree - much better. Sharp curves are never the best unless using small locos. Now we know where all those class 40's in the real BR got their bogie cracks.....from going round the tight curves on your MOD line!! We will look forward to developments Keep up the good work.
  8. Steve, Hello I am interested in buying the 'Hand Painted' large logo numbers you say you produce for the early West Highland 37/4's (37401-413) - I notice from photographs the later West Highland 37/4's (37422-37425) had the slightly chunkier numbers I was struggling to find the 'Hand Painted' ones on your site in 7mm? What is the code? I just need the numbers and not the BRarrows and Scottie Dogs Ideally Rub on or waterslide if no carrier film (probably none in any case as the numbers are big). Please let me know the options available. Deltic17
  9. Hello Michael, I used the Deluxe Materials - Perfect Plastic Putty I have always found this works well for me.
  10. Hello & thanks for the comments. I'm no expert at drawing lines on pictures but basically..... 1 - Put some masking tape across the windscreens to protect everything (rubbers etc) before carefully cutting with a thin saw 2 - Make one straight cut across the bonnet top as close to the windscreens/wipers as possible but without touching them - the masking tape helps with that 3 - Make a parallel (to the above) cut across the roof top (approx. 2-3mm behind the roof top 4 - Make a cut at an angle (about 45 degrees) beneath the driver/secondman window (with the 'glass' removed) and join up to the cut (2) above to release the windscreen (you have to cut slightly into the bodyside to achieve this) 5 - Glue the released section back in to place at the correct angle with a bit of careful filing needed on the bottom of the windscreen section to allow for the decreased cab angle. 6 - Lots of filler, sand, filler, sand to fill the various gaps (a long job) and remake the guttering (that was cut through) and then patch repaint. The more time spent doing step 6 the better the finish. 7 - Remake the drivers and secondmans windows to fit the cab new shape It is worth the effort, the patience of doing it is well rewarded. I have had so any good comments about 068. When I do the next one I will try and take some photos as I go! I have since transplanted another pair of HJ class 40 windsrceens into a HJ class 37 but that is another story.... Edited 2/2/20 to include point 7 re the windows which I'd forgotten about in the original script!
  11. Overhauls after around 1979/80 saw the 03’s emerge from Works with black as opposed to yellow buffer beams.
  12. Are everyone's new 03's running smoothly at slow speeds?? I noticed a few comments casting a bit of doubt? Being a shunting engine surely this has to be a good slow precise runner? It can't be too much to ask? Can it? A friend's Heljan 05 is a lovely smooth runner so I was hoping the 03 would be similarly good?? Hopefully as smooth as the Dapol 08?? Fingers crossed anyway.....any thoughts/feedback is much appreciated....
  13. I was reading in the update about a photo charter next week using the vans? Would it be useful for yourselves (on this forum say) to promote the photo charters using the vans/wagons (I appreciate they are organised generally by others from outside the GCR) because the more people that know about them the more people will want to go on such charters and then I presume the more money that will come in to help support the Wagon Group's activities. I did a diesel charter with the vans a couple of years ago but sometimes finding out about these things can be tricky as lots of different groups can organise etc....just a thought because the more money that comes in the better for all.
  14. I can't comment fully re green ones but the blue ones had a black strip on the top of the wasp stripes so it is correct from a BR Blue perspective. Looking at a photo from the heritage shunters collection a green 03 also has the black strip you mention.....so it could well be correct too. Re the crest it could just be hattons rush job to get a photo on their site and might be fine in better light....
  15. As these are almost here..... Hopefully somebody will bring out the bits to convert an 03 to an air braked example...….otherwise I am going to be building from scratch!
  16. On Tower's site there seem to have been a number of changes to what is being produced and it currently states..... "there will EVENTUALLY be 2 models reflecting the various detail changes made between 'early' and 'late' versions' - what does this mean does anybody know?? Are they saying they are going to produce an air braked version?? because if so that will affect my order as I would prefer an air braked one or maybe something depending on your definition of 'early' and 'late'... Maybe I will have to phone them but does anybody know what this is about??
  17. Numbers look good I hadn't heard of DRD before I do think rub on transfers are the best Good modelling
  18. Yes I agree - credit where due - it looks a lot better I think we just focus on the areas for improvement re comments to try and help get an even better model
  19. Also the windscreen wipers are still wrong (this was a problem with their original version) and they have carried that error into the new model!! In the original version they had different versions of the wipers at each end I recall which was also wrong! Looking at pictures from the 1980's of all 47's on Flickr and they all have (not sure how to describe this) a straight THIN wiper and not an angled!! one as in the photo above. This is simple to correct so hopefully Heljan will be listening? - hopefully someone can point it out to them.
  20. J6522 is 55015 Tulyar. It's headcode boxes were plated on 28/6 according to Napier Chronicles and by mid July it had white windows so this is in that in between period. The delve above the right marker light gives it away as Tulyar and when you know that you can make out the 5 in the photo. Obviously racehorse nameplate too.
  21. J6519 - is definitely 55007 Pinza (it has the fuller Finsbury Park plated over headcode modification). Deltic 9 was the only other one to have this modification but in the photo there definitely more of a 7 than a 9 and very short nameplate.
  22. A few years ago I needed something listed on his site (7mm diesel headcode bits) I just sent a cheque off and the item required appeared in the post from him a little while after. If people know what they want maybe try this approach.
  23. So they had samples of the aluminium framed versions at Warley did they? I must have missed that. it would be interesting to see a photo if anyone has one. Lets hope the frames are modelled correctly in production otherwise a missed opportunity. Hopefully any errors have been pointed out to them and if so Dapol seem pretty good at going back and correcting etc.
