  1. Have they not replied by the ride height issue? - I would have loved to buy some to go with Heljan diesels but if they are too high it is a non starter - if they could be lowered via the bogies that would possibly be a good start to increased sales....let hope they can communicate their ideas soon...
  2. I think one important thing for preserved railways is to provide excellent food / drink as we all know that generally makes good money. A top notch café/bar/restaurant run well should provide a steady stream of profits and the better the food the more people will return and word will get around and it will even get custom from non railway visitors over time if the product is spot on. This obviously also applies to on board offerings/Pullman style meals/dining trains.
  3. Thanks for your reply.... That is interesting that someone else has independently queried it too....oh no....?? I am somewhat worried because when you now look back at the CAD images earlier in the thread you can see this big bulge/wide shelf below the cab front windows. Strange that Heljan say it correct?? as it certainly doesn't look correct to me and they have been good at shape issues in the past. I think we need to see some better side/corner shots. Did anyone take any? I must admit I didn't notice the small class 47 cab mock up at Telford on the Heljan stand - maybe I am going blind! or maybe I was distracted as I had my 2 children with me!! Anyway the jury is out somewhat until we see a side/corner cab shot but I am somewhat concerned. We all just want a top notch 47 - then they will sell loads otherwise it is a wasted effort. If it is wrong I hope they have the sense to correct it. Photos anyone?
  4. In the interests of constructive criticism (and it is hard to tell fully from the Facebook photo due to shadowing) but isn’t there too wide a ‘shelf’ appearing under the front windows?? There of course should be a little ‘shelf’ but it just looks too wide/ie is too prominent in the photo. If that is the case then hopefully it can be corrected as otherwise there was little point in retooling it. What does everyone else think?
  5. Also showed a updated version of the split headcode 37 to be produced
  6. Firstly big sympathies to Bury.... There needs to be a full (AND ONGOING) review of all owners of clubs. My own club Newcastle United is being completely strangled and run solely for the benefit of owner Mike cAshley and nobody else. The club has no interest in aiming to win cups - they only aim for PL survival and the sequence continues year after year. Any good players are sold at profit. Any good managers (Rafa Benitez) was moved on because he had ambition and wanted to compete and bring success and win things. Instead cAshley appoints a YES man (Steve Bruce). Newcastle were listed 19th in the most recent Deloitte ratings but we could be so much higher if the club was run properly. We provide free advertising for cAshley's own company SD (cheap tat) so advertising revenues go backwards compared to every other PL club. We have no proper boardroom/structure. We have outdated training facilities. More and more supporters are staying away as the malaise spreads. The club communicates terribly with the fans (hardly at all) and in particular the Fans Forum (where fans in theory can communicate with club) is regularly cancelled even though it is supposed to be quarterly as per PL rules but that is overlooked. Even small clubs such as Bournemouth spend £m's more than NU. cAshley has only spent about £5m a year net in the 12 years he has owned us and he has pretty much pocketed much of the rest. We are always late for the reporting of accounts. He has transferred the land behind to ground from NU to himself and then sold it for profit for office/accommodation so the stadium now can't be expanded even though we play to full houses until the 2019/20 season because of all the troubles he has created. He has no respect for anyone in or outside football. Hardly anybody buys NU shirts any more as they don't want to give the money to SD who control merchandise. Crowds are falling. He has though messed up big time over the summer and the whole thing is coming to a head as relegation once again looms - all because of a poor owner. A poor owner who doesn't want to sell as he is currently making too much from it. But maybe just like SD it is all starting to fall apart. The football authorities need to be stronger.
  7. Nice work - I will follow with interest
  8. I see these are arriving shortly. Does anyway produce the 'slightly thinner' number transfers for these large logo 37/4's? The reason I ask this is, if I recall correctly, the numbers on these were in a slightly thinner format than normal large logo numbers as used say on 47/4's. The Hattons 37401 & 408 numbers look perfect but if you want to renumber one....?? Has anybody got any thoughts re the slightly different font that I think was used when they were outshopped from Crewe Works?
  9. Lovely work on your locos, the 25 with new cabs looks top notch. Quite a few 20's had wider spaced numbers as you note.
  10. Yes I agree re Class 25's. They were always rare in the North East when I started out in 1978 and into the 1980's but you did get the odd one or two every now and again.
  11. The HEA's will be more popular I agree We seem to have been waiting for ages but I'm sure with a bit of patience something will turn up soon - they have done some work on them already so hopefully something will appear soon...
  12. What terrible news... I had often wondered about security overnight at exhibitions and this just goes to show what can happen when things go wrong....how could anything think to destroy such is beyond all of us. Very sad for those who have lost items or that are damaged beyond repair. The justgiving page I see has so many donations & support from all round the world. Amazing support from the model railway and wider community.....
  13. Good luck with this project Nice to see a more modern prototype being modelled by Minerva
  14. The nameplate on 55011 was missing for only a short period in 1980 as it was re-united shortly afterwards - unlike 55010 which never had it's 2nd nameplate refitted.
  15. That is crazy to get the black headcode so wrong on 37408!! Do they not look at pictures of the original?? - surely that should be the starting point.
  16. Brian What is the make of the front windscreens etch as used on 37222 They look better than any other ones I've seen?
  17. Just come across this layout - where have I been - fantastic atmosphere - great locos - will follow with interest
  18. Whilst it generally all comes down to money, I still think it is sad that it appears locos like 55002/D9002 have no operating future. I think operating locos so that the general public can hear the sounds as well as sight helps to promote further interest than if all locos are increasingly just static exhibits and it could have been something for the museum to build on and generate further interest so in my eyes it is an opportunity missed.
  19. Well it did many miles of important service for the last (almost 2 years) after repair.
  20. No - firstly the Deltic is in the bay platform at Carlisle (sound end) - Penmanshiel was 1979 whereas this photo is definitely 1981 - definitely the Carlisle - Edinburgh service
  21. My HUO turned up today. The model looks very good and captures the wagon well. Unfortunately 2 buffers had come adrift and were loose in the box so I had to glue them back on but not a big problem. The only issue I noticed was the brake blocks don't seem to line up too well with the wheels which is a shame. Overall a good effort though and it runs nice and smoothly which is important. Well done Accurascale from me!
  22. Just discovered this thread Fantastic work on the diesels Roof photos of your Peak are useful a few pages back as I have one to convert....
  23. Well I have just ordered one - I will look forward to receiving it. 21T hoppers would be popular for many - in particular, I would like the rebodied versions as I'm trying to build up a decent rake of these.
  24. I'm sure someone will do an HST before too long and as said above I would buy one. Yes GWR has done well (for all the time I have been interested in model railways) but maybe that is getting pretty much exhausted in many respects and as age demographics change etc I think an HST would be a good choice and moving with the times is always a good idea. Anyway fingers crossed from me.....
