  1. Wow... some random searching and found a website for a model shop that's been shut for at least 10 years, but the website is still going even if it's not updated.  http://www.hendfordhalt.co.uk/

Had that on my fav list for a while, whenever I'm feeling a little blue I put it on! Also have a look at some of the stationary engines they play music to!

Your enthusiasm generates HTTP errors ? I have to write programs for that !

  5. 2016... hopefully the year I finally give up all these half-finished projects, consign them to the bin, and actually build a proper layout (once I've cleared the crap in the spare room)

Ha ha .... I bet this applies to a majority % of modellers the world over "including myself"

  6. 32" x 10" board spare... do I bin it or is there an option for a working plan there?

ok so my first idea has failed but it has morphed into a 6ft x 2ft modern era N gauge with a tram being the main feature... yes I don't understand how either.

  7. 73201 and 73107 on a yellow train just gone past the office window into London Bride. Nice change from units. Preferred it when the 37's did the run though, they made the windows rattle.

  9. A birthday with no railway related presents. Glad I treated myself last week at Hattons :)

    1. bcnPete

      bcnPete

Happy Birthday - my wife said it was highly unlikely she would ever buy me anything train related...so no harm in treating ones self in that case!

  10. A flash of inspiration... design the baseboards to suit the track plan - not mess with the track plan to suit the baseboards. Genius... although seemingly known by most of RMWeb... why didn't I pick it up before?

  11. A good morning's modelling so far, only two plasters needed.

Quit while you're ahead or it will be a full body cast by bedtime.

  12. A hole has opened up under the railway line in South London. Network Rail are looking into it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-36826936

Last time I saw a hole that wide an ex was stuffing it full of Taco's.

    2. Horsetan

      Horsetan

You'll probably find Southern's management at the bottom of the hole, still digging.

  13. A speaker at a children's Harvest Festival asked the children to name some of the things they could see on display. "Carrots" shouted one. "Peas" said another. "Cabbages" replied a third. "Now, can anyone tell me a word that covers all these things," asked the Vicar. "Gravy" came a yell from the back of the Church.

    1. Horsetan

      Horsetan

Sadly, that seems to be ever more prevalent.....

Well it'll give some variety alongside my 33 in due course. Now all I need is a way to figure out a track plan in the space I have.

    3. Tim Hall

      Tim Hall

I think a lot of people with accidentally order them.

      tree dace perhaps?

  17. Anyone who worries about laying flat track... look here for inspiration http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOHwZF4VzvU

  18. Apa box goes back in cupboard, can't do what I wanted in the space, so it's now a 4ft x 21" board with two 3ft x 1ft fiddle yards that will go on each end in due course. Just need to dig some space out now to put the board up on its trestles.

  19. appears to have been commissioned by our Finance Director to build a small layout to rest on a couple of low cabinets in his office... this could be interesting.

    2. cromptonnut

      cromptonnut

Something like that. He's got a Hornby DCC controller so I'll lend him one of my sound fitted locos to wake people up if meetings get a bit tedious in there. Probably only be a simple fiddle yard to terminus with a couple of sidings thing but it's the idea rather than a detailed reproduction of a prototype that I think he's after - which is good because I don't have the time to stretch my skills that much!

  20. Asked a shop if they stocked code 75. "No, it's rubbish". I disagree.

So they were Tennents Extra in those days.

  21. asked for a raise at work. So they're giving me a desk on the second floor instead.

  22. At last the shed is ordered... £3k all in, suits me just fine and dandy.

Well £3k might seem a lot, but its only 15 Hornby Princess Coronations at list price...

  23. Away for a week and a half ... and 450 notifications to plough through.

  24. Awesome. My package, which I've been waiting for to be delivered from the US, was apparently delivered at 7.11am this morning. Even if that's taking into account the timezones, I certainly haven't received a parcel. Harumph.

      PaulRhB

New Royal Mail computer system? Two packets I've had delivered from the states this week were 'delivered' two days before I got a customs card. Then it updated again to show delivered when I picked them up with the correct time. It can't distinguish between arriving in the UK and actual delivery!

    2. Horsetan

      Horsetan

      Delivered to another address?

Who knows but $80 of impossible to get otherwise in the UK Woodland Scenics stuff is not going to just be ignored missing!

  25. Awoken from my work slumbers by top and tail DRS 37's on a yellow test train going past the office window leaving London Bridge. Dreadful!
