  1. The Beast's road trial 80 vans were hooked on the back and it slpped not moving 70 vans and it only just about started the train, 65 vans with some slip and again 60 van with no slip the longest FY siding will only take 42 wagons so preformance was OK for me. The first 45 vans the last of the train The loco has been run in and oiled and now running "sweet as a nut" It's shame as Drew put it they were packed by a 300lb gorilla but I recon the footplates were force out of the moulds still hot to incur the amount and level of damage I would hope the G.W.R. livery and the others to come should be OK as long as Heljan look at what they are sending to the stores time will tell. Edit oops backs of the legs slapping time, I've forgotten to put any lamps on the damn thing
  2. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  3. You have got to be an idiot if you can't put that carp together believe me there's alot of idiots about I make good few bob putting junk together for people, it's the same for the old MFI (Made For Idiots)the owner thought it was a joke to call his company that all those years ago the construction of both makes leave a lot to be desired. Bob the real builder
  4. There's no sign of GDB today he must have gone @rse over in the car park at Sainsburys this morning and is now nursing a bump I do hope he is OK. . . Friend Steve who is retiring shortly popped round today to have a play with the layout he was well impressed in return he has invited me to the Brittish Airway Museum at Heathrow that should be interesting as I worked as a manager for an Aircargo agent Frieght Forwarder Kuhne & Nagel for 20 years. Have a good one Bob (no not that one)
  5. Track cleaning duties were performed today for the first time this year 2-3 hours making it all shiny and vaccumed all the girt (grit I said) and dust out of the point motors and frogs as well as a wipe of all the track contacts with some tetrawhateveryoucallit, I manager a problem free running session this afternoon for my guest who is new to model raiways, he was most impressed. That 47xx pulled 60 vans with ease I will try 90 tomorrow. S.M.Artar$e
  6. Robin the beast manager 60 wagons with ease I couldn't be @sred to go and get more as I had a visitor to the layout today so some serious running of trains was done, I'll take more out tomorrow and see if it will pull 90. Btw I tried it on a three way point in all directions with no issues it looks as if I've cured all the running problems fingers crossed, I'm now trying to get the blobs off the cab sides to put some brass number plates on it this should improve the looks no end I'll do a pic when its all done.
  7. Me neither but I think this time there is an excepton to that rule.
  8. The front axle is a very sloppy fit the slightest bump will knock it out I will glue a piece of brass tube in the truck I've already weighted it & fitted a Romford axle, I keep finding things as I go along I have sorted the derailing out and it runs very well if you have made loco kits you in theory should be able to fix it, it only my kit building skills that have allowed me to make it work to be honest I should have throw it back in the box and taken it back, I'm happy I've fixed it but I should not to have to be the case it's a fixable lemon. Good luck to any one who tries don't attempt it if you are not confident or unsure. Robin since when have magazines done honest reviews even Tony Wright got it wrong with the 42/52/72xx unless he had a doctored model.
  9. I was rather hoping to see a 47xx trundling around then I thought not every is as mad as me to buy a lemon, the loco it's self is a good representation but the people who put them together should be employed elsewhere I rejected 3 at my local store, buffers and couplings have disappeared into the sun set with the one I bought & I spent 2 hours on it to get it to go round the layout. Anyway I see you are on a wrecking spree ripping up track but it's the only way sometimes to get things running properly I would too I see the sheds are to be reinstated or are you planing additions ? I remember when you done the shed area thinking I wished I had that space I settled for a one road shed with turntable and 2 sidings in the end. enjoy your railway Bob
  10. Finished the chores today with 4 door latch holes resized and new door furniture fitted it's easier to drill the holes first time rather than making them bigger with a hammer and chisel still it should need doing again till I'm 110 years old. One of my daughters friends dad Steve has told me he retires next week and wants to start a model railway he lives a few roads away it will come in handy if I want to get out of earshot of SWMBO I can go round there and help out so any of you know me from shows & Didcot will have the pleasure of meeing him soon, I will try and get him on here if he wants to join and I will be making try to steer him in the direction of the GWR as he wants to model the steam era and it's easy for me . Her has promised me a coffee so I'm off. Robert the Decorating Engineer
  11. I missed the bin trucks this morning not that I'm bothered about them I was out at the barbers having a trim I buqqered off out to get away from SWBMO nagging "are you going to do this than and the other" I waited for Her to come up for air then said I will do like my mate does GDB I'm going to Sainsburys potter about and do a few odd jobs I've not done bad this morning attach 2 bits of trellis to the arbour replaced a wall switch and a wall plate the new ones She got are smaller so some filler and paint required to tidy up, I do wish she would not poke her nose in and let me buy the new fixtures and fitting. Off for some lunch have a good one O.D. D'Jobb
  12. Andy can I suggest you make a daily log of what happens at work or any home intervention(phone calls) if it's daily you need to be seeing an employment lawyer what I have been reading over the past few week you have a good case I suggest you don't answer the phone whilst you are off sick and try and stand up to these people after all it's only a job and the Union Rep should be speaking to the Head not giving you guidance if things are this bad the rep should be telling him and the other staff to back off it won't go away if you don't stand up to these so called work colleagues they might see you as a walk over if you don't do anything about it. If you think I've got any of this wrong tell me so and I will wipe the post. Chin up Buddy and come out of your courner fighting. Bob
  13. I stayed there once on a railway tour glad to say not by choice.
  14. Right Robino I've finally had time to mess with the 47xx main issue was derailing this was due to (1) a p!ss poor pony truck which is light as a feather solution truck was to weight it with lead and while it was out a Romford axle went in (2) loco and tender coupled too close together draw bar is adjustable and was open out to the largest gap, I lost the tender coupling so a Bachmann one was subtituted, had to glue the brake rodding on as it clipped into fresh air, the tender tank way too far back on the chassis there's 3 fixing point 2 under the tool boxes and 1 under the filler cap the holes where the screws go through were elongated a small amount and refixed, chipping one should be dead easy as it's access from under the tank top apart from super detailing there's nothing else to do. One thing with this loco the armchair merchants will give it a wide berth but the amount of work I've done to it has not been the first time Hornby 8 couple heavy tanks for instance were just as bad tomorrow will be haulage trial day once all the track has been cleaned. A Fixer
  15. I spent some time on my one today the pony truck is far too light ( I might pinch the one off a Cotwold kit) so some lead weight was added as much as possible in the small space and a Romford axle installed. The tender coupling has disappeared somewhere so a slightly longer Bachmann one put in and there is no buffer lock now and the tender - loco coupling altered so there is a large gap between the two as this was making the front ride over the rails on a radius of 36" all the side motion has had a drop of oil on the joints and rubbing surfaces and it's running a treat (smallest radius I have is 36" ), have fun putting the brake rodding in I finally resorted to a drop of super glue at either end to keep it in place. It will be coaled ,lamps and some brass number plates put on and the fall plate will go in when the crew has had a lick of paint and some fireirons when the iron rack has been slotted out at the front of the tender. One other thing is the whistles correct size one will go on it if they can be sourced but thats not the end of the world for me.
  16. I see GDB is on another possible suicide missions I can't believe he tempts fate the way he does, Oi you tightwad get a man in our window cleaner does ours with the purewater method and it comes up sparkling. The thread is on a down hill spiral today main topic someones todger. Me I'm getting away with blue murder today heaping it on a bit thick after yesterdays short visit to the hospital so I will be doing not a lot. have a good one Lazee B'stard
  17. I told you so. fancy putting you delicate modelling hands in danger.
  18. Bob I thought you said Her Bossness told you to get someone in last time it was due for a clean you better remind her if you are brave enough. Any way back home from hospital having had the injection in the spinal cord I asked the Anesthetist if he done take-outs on the happy juice the put you to sleep with as I'm not sleeping well of late it was met with a roar of laughter from the six members of staff tending me shortly after I woke up very groggy in recovery The requirement to leave is to have a pee which took 3 coffee's and a litre of water to happen it's all working fine and dandy now it's a pity i couldn't take the toaster with me today I couldn't get it P.A.T. tested at short notice. For the next 2 weeks I have a work pass-out so it's Modelling some more Modeling and even more Modelling and running trains Have a good day all S.I.C'Knote
  19. Yo The painting has come to an end and Mr Ernie has sent me some tokens to cover a 1/3rd of the cost of that expensive 47xx Now I've got to get ready and pack for my short stay in hospital hopefully I will be pain free this time tomorrow it's the 9th time I'm on first name terms with the Consultant now who shoves this great big needle in me, must go things to do. have a good day all John (Constable)

  22. Hi Simon I'm not sure on this one I only ever fitted complete bogs have a look on the Screwfix site you might find what you want open an account if needed it's always handy, you can check the float arm operation and that black gasket is in the correct way round, it's pity you live 250 miles or I could have popped round. Bob AKA Malcolm
  23. Up at 06:45 this morning to be greeted by rain, an Idiot neighbour decided to try and repair his garage door again at 05:00 this morning words to the effect of "S.T.F.U. Bozo" were spoken to him, painting has been deffered for a day the house was full of fumes overnite with windows left open to clear the smell it's why I heard the Bozo making a racket, HER has grabbed the bathroom again so I will while away the time on here. I see Beasty boy has (tried to)put his SWMBO firmly in her place from day one good luck with that move Sunshine she will get her own way very soon and you will be under the THUMB believe me I tried that and lost. Bread makers on a hospital wards thats a new one on me I wonder if I can take a toaster in Tuesday when I go for my jab. Have a good one you all Malcolm
