  1. I'll say it again.......loving this thread and thanks to all the contributors. My second fave thread on the site and may long it continue to produce some gems. Top work. Regards Guy
  2. Loving these photos!. Unfortunately my old instamatic photos from Coventry and its environs are lost in the mists of time....what was humdrum daily occurrences we never looked or thought twice about are pretty special memories in hindsight. Good work people. Thanks to Rugd1022 for the great Rugby pictures. Again! Cheers Nidge. Regards Guy
  3. C6399 hoping there was a decent stove on the go! What a fantastic photo. Regards Guy
  4. J0838 and J1559.......Great photos and I see the wheel-less wheelbarrow is STILL there in the cess, between March 67 and March 69. Clearly not a high priority! Regards Guy
  5. C3494...........25126 and 25213 replaced 47276 at Sheffield on 1E34 09.19 Manchester-Yarmouth. A little more completion for you David (courtesy of Alan Baylis's marvellous class 25 workings resource) http://www.class25.info/Date_Working_Web_Pages/Yarmouth_Trains.htm#Yarmouth Trains – 1977 Edited for sausage-fingers
  6. What a fabulous set of photographs on the Cumbria zenfolio website! A superb snapshot of the 40's at that time, and the variety of stock. A school train tacked onto a goods train? Brilliant history and beautifully photographed. Many thanks for this. Guy
  7. Have a look at this link. Limited photos but they are of an "as original" SK which exists in the US, one of two thought scrapped. As the seating is original, and the the coach unrestored, it must be probably the best template you could get for the original colour. http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM5JR2_British_Railway_Coaches_Standish_Depo Regards, Guy
  8. J217 that wagon loading is unbelievable! The days when H&S was a 60 year old fella with a woodbine and a flat cap........fantastic set of photos once again Dave, many thanks. Guy
  9. C1457. Very nice nearly ex-works 46 on a disgustingly filthy rake of mixed parcels. Great photo!
  10. An original photo. Certainly looks similair.....nice find! http://lnwrs.zenfolio.com/p909960545/h4867611A#h4867611a
  11. Ashley Butlin's book is also a very useful tome, although covers lots, numbering and disposal locations and conversion dates (where applicable). Used in conjunction with Parkin and Hugh Longworth's books there is a great deal of detailed information about most aspects of MK1 stock.
  12. What's tacked onto the back of J0823? A fab rake of MK1's in mixed livery and what appears to be something quite square on the end.........Can't imagine it's a Fruit D? Great photos Dave! Regards Guy
  13. Great atmosphere in the Peak shot! Lovely mix of stock as well. LMS P3 in there next to a blue and white MK1 if I'm not mistaken.Top work once again Dave cheers.
  14. It is the same photo as is included in my 1977 Essery and Jenkinson tome......which I've packed away as we're moving house next week. M27001M rings a bell, which is now preserved on the SVR
  15. Incredible how that landscape has changed. Superb photo's of industrial heritage Dave. I think I shall treat myself to a review of all these pages again in the new year. Happy Christmas mate, and keep up the great work. All the best. Guy
  16. It's a very interesting bit of rolling stock in the context of MK1 and what came afterwards...........................and a very canny preservation for sure. Rode in it earlier this year. But I still prefer the period 3 LMS stock!
  17. J557......third coach back....trying to work out if that's a trick of the light, or the experimental first open that's now on the SVR.....lots of Windows for a MK1. There's a Thompson or two further back in the mix.....great shot!
