  1. Another pic of Birch Coppice from http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/misc/misc_coll-locos054.htm
  2. Michael Edge may be able to help you if you ask him?
  3. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/57549-ontracks-taff-vale-gwr-0-6-0t-locomotives/page-3 Dickon made this Taff Vale E class from the Electrotren 0-6-0ST and a Pug cab
  4. Cunarder was HE1690 Interesting link in the names on Bursar and Treasurer!
  5. MORE shameless cross posting! I made this YEC 0-6-0ST from a Bachmann 'Junior' and 'NotPercy' with HO wheels and a smokebox from a GBL 4575

    WCPR No 5 - part 6

It looks so great. The disc wheels are spot-on, too.
  7. I have a Hornby Pug chassis block to measure up, possibly with a different motor. The body actually needs extending a bit to match the real loco's bunker.
  8. Ah, thanks Michael. Treasurer was on my wish list of future bashes so thats very helpful!
  9. Treasurer was at Stewarts and Lloyds in Corby. https://transportsofdelight.smugmug.com/RAILWAYS/BRITISH-INDUSTRIAL-LOCOMOTIVES/INDUSTRIAL-DIESEL-AND-ELECTRIC/i-LZvQNMk
  10. Yes, it also makes me sad when someone says that this amazing resource we have absolutely free of charge is somehow 'the cause of the sad state of our hobby today'. I remember a time before RMWeb, when I was cut off from anyone else who modelled, too embarrassed about my hobby to talk about it to my schoolfriends for fear of getting teased. No free knowledge sharing or one-on-one interactions with other modellers whenever I liked. It annoys me when people flounce off and remove their accounts. If it's annoying you, stop looking at it. The obsession with getting the last word in is irritating.
  11. 2nd attempt at spraying yellow. I did a few light coats before I went away with work for a week, then a bit more yesterday. Left it overnight to harden before touching it, and a spell out on the balcony in the sunshine. Much better. Still not perfect as a bit of detail has been lost, and it is a bit uneven in places, but much better than the ruined splodgy coat. This attempt used Rover Inca Yellow rather than the cheap nameless yellow from before. Still runnier than most but not as bad. I've touched in a few black details which helps set it off a bit. It's not secured down in the pics yet. EDIT. With a few extras, posed alongside its stablemate...
  12. Cunarder was HE1690 (EDITED) 'Treasurer' looked similar but was a 15" loco. (HE 1446) 'Birch Coppice' is 16" (HE 1637) I prefer 'Cunarder' in its original form. As a side tank it was also given a curved, Jinty style bunker. According to Don Townsley in this thread: The intention was to make 'Cunarder' appear like an LMS Dock Tank while it was at Swanage. I believe that they are retaining this bunker in the current rebuild rather than the angular Hunslet one, which is a shame but understandable.
  13. That kato motor bogie does seem to lend itself to RC being so low slung.
  14. Sounds cool, but I can't see your images

    New announcement?

Its a Caley Pug called Smerrkerr Jerr
  16. Very nice, what size magnets do you use Nile? The diesel looks Fowler-esque
  17. Not the first time around, but I since read yellow is best over white primer. When I came to spray the second time, it turned out my girlfriend had used all my white primer! So I've gone over the yellow filler primer to see what will happen when I use thin coats.
  18. The really dribbly one was an ebay special, I'll have to look it up. I'm now using a Rover Yellow from Halfords which is a bit thin but better.
  19. Those LMR WDs look great. I love the blue livery.
  20. So it's like a class 59 or 66 made out of spare parts? I like it, would that make it a 'frankenshed'?

    Keeping 26043 alive

Really interesting. If you've ever read Paul Jarman's blog on Beamish Transport, he has a similar theme in that during the 1960s-1990s the museum essentially used up all the remaining life in its working exhibits, and now they are all coming to the 'heavy rebuild' stage.
  22. Sorry, I meant the modified RTR section. Workbench area doesn't have threads http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/forum/176-modifying-detailing-rtr-stock/
  23. A soaking in Dettol and scrubbing with a toothbrush stripped most of the paint, some thinners applied with a cotton bud took car of the residue (pictured top left before I used the thinners). Re-primed it all last night. I've applied a few light coats of yellow (from Halfords this time) this morning, and am working away this week so that should give the coats time to harden before I wet sand them to get any dribbles out, hopefully it'll just be a couple of coats after that! After some advice from Oly, and some reading on RMWeb, I now realise how tricky yellow can be.
  24. Sounds good, but should this not be in the workbench section rather than micro layouts and dioramas?
