    New announcement?

Its a Caley Pug called Smerrkerr Jerr
  2. Very nice, what size magnets do you use Nile? The diesel looks Fowler-esque
  3. Not the first time around, but I since read yellow is best over white primer. When I came to spray the second time, it turned out my girlfriend had used all my white primer! So I've gone over the yellow filler primer to see what will happen when I use thin coats.
  4. The really dribbly one was an ebay special, I'll have to look it up. I'm now using a Rover Yellow from Halfords which is a bit thin but better.
  5. Those LMR WDs look great. I love the blue livery.
  6. So it's like a class 59 or 66 made out of spare parts? I like it, would that make it a 'frankenshed'?

    Keeping 26043 alive

Really interesting. If you've ever read Paul Jarman's blog on Beamish Transport, he has a similar theme in that during the 1960s-1990s the museum essentially used up all the remaining life in its working exhibits, and now they are all coming to the 'heavy rebuild' stage.
  8. Sorry, I meant the modified RTR section. Workbench area doesn't have threads http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/forum/176-modifying-detailing-rtr-stock/
  9. A soaking in Dettol and scrubbing with a toothbrush stripped most of the paint, some thinners applied with a cotton bud took car of the residue (pictured top left before I used the thinners). Re-primed it all last night. I've applied a few light coats of yellow (from Halfords this time) this morning, and am working away this week so that should give the coats time to harden before I wet sand them to get any dribbles out, hopefully it'll just be a couple of coats after that! After some advice from Oly, and some reading on RMWeb, I now realise how tricky yellow can be.
  10. Sounds good, but should this not be in the workbench section rather than micro layouts and dioramas?
  11. My friend's family have had this Matador since 1946, I'm aiming to model it one day. Think it was retired from active duty in the 1980s. It was rebuilt by Douglas twice, including shortening the chassis. Much easier to turn than a standard Matador!
  12. You're right,I just tried sending you a test message and it told me your messaging feature had been disabled.
  13. Gaaaarghhh A very frustrating few evenings. The paint I bought is the runniest, thinnest rubbish I've ever used on a model. So many runs, the damn stuff doesn't dry properly so you mark it every time you pick it up. Tried to apply some more primer to fill in the marks, which split and shrank, had to sand lots off and re-apply. Now the damn thing has so much paint on it. Unsure whether to try and fix it or strip it all off and start again. EDIT: Actually, I am going to strip it all off. It's really gunky and rubbish and needs to be done again.
  14. It was very nice, John said he built it for a layout challenge run by the EM society. I think it had to fit in a 4ft x 4ft square. The steam crane (I always think of it as the elephant crane, and the electric ones as the giraffes) could rotate as well!
  15. They have! https://bristolharbourrailway.co.uk/2017/03/12/m-shed-in-miniature/ Thanks also for the kind comments about the YEC
  16. Reminds me of RAS Syndrome (Redundant Acronym Syndrome Syndrome)
  17. Nice one! I see the 48150 is included too. I think one could make a convincing 48150 using a similar method to this but starting with an Austerity rather than a J94 to get the circular rear cab windows. The Terrier wheels make a big difference, I think.
  18. Thanks Dave! Yes you are right, I need to extend the frames so they go all the way to the bufferbeams. I did the same on the 'Lambtonesque' 0-6-2T and it made a huge difference.
  19. I slapped some Klear on to seal the weathering and ended up removing a lot! So I applied some more last night before using the wet cotton bud to clean it up a bit. There's a loco under there somewhere.... A lot of photos of industrial locos show the tank having been overfilled and the water contrasting with the grubby loco. I tried using some glue 'n glaze applied with a brush to give this effect.
  20. WW2 was full of acronyms. e.g. PLUTO - Pipe Line Under The Ocean
