  1. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. He's hiding at the moment but Arthur Itis keeps popping his head up but Nurofen keeps him in place. This afternoon I popped down to Tess Coes and there I bumped into a gent I hadn't seen since before lockdown so we spent about fifteen minutes catching up.
  2. Living in South Essex if I want to go anywhere other than East Anglia there are not many alternatives to the M25, certainly not when it comes to going South or West. North or Northwest I use the A130 to Chelmsford, then the A414 via Hatfield Broad Oak to the M11 at Bishops Stortford/Stanstead. Before Covid I went to a model railway exhibition at Bishops Stortford using the above route. I met someone from South Essex there who had come via the M25. It actually took him about the same time as me and I would have been quicker but for roadworks in Bishops Stortford. For routes further north it was M11-A14-A1 or M11-A14 to the M1-M6 junction. Depending on the time of day/week I sometimes used the A5 to avoid the M6.
  3. I've noticed at least one member who cannot give or receive ratings. Beneath his avatar it says 'Moderated status'. So there is a means of dealing with misuse of such as a groan button. The only reason I can think of for not using it is that it would take up too much moderator time.
  4. MTK models double deck bus kits come with a complete one piece body. You have to insert glazing and each deck in turn which isn't easy. I've seen several of these kits built with rather wonky upper decks.
  5. And the Foden steam lorry that was used by the REME in WW1.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Something happened to me this morning that would give @polybear the heebie-jeebies. I was in the bathroom washing my hands when I felt something tickle the top of my bare foot. It turned out to be an enormous spider scuttling across the bathroom floor and taking a short cut across my foot before disappearing under the skirting board.
  7. I don't recall anyone being caught for the server theft I mentioned. Four members of staff were tied up by the raiders, two computer operators and two security staff. One of the security staff claimed to be so traumatised that he never returned to work and took early retirement. He went to live in Spain soon after retirement.
  8. Rodin produce a 1/72 B type bus kit in both military and civilian guise.
  9. It was certainly an inside job. I have my own ideas as to who it was.
  10. Where I worked we had a new server installed. The very same evening the place was raided and the server was stolen.
  11. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Just a few rumbles from Arthur Itis this evening but Nurofen has put him in his place. Now to get back to Farcebook, be back later.
  12. Take it to the Antiques Roadshow, I dare you.
  13. My house had a carpeted bathroom when I first moved in. I replaced it with lino and when I removed the old carpet I found a carefully trimmed semicircle under the wash basin pedestal!
  14. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Watching 'The London that nobody knows', I wonder if anything illustrated still exists today?
  15. Heads up on Talking Pictures* there is 'The London that nobody knows' narrated by James Mason on at four o'clock. *Freeview 81, SKY 328, Virgin 445 and Freesat 306.
  16. I can't imagine what they would be doing to have their legs hanging out of an open top bus.😁
  17. Sadly someone used snipe software and pipped me at the post.
  18. Make a great motorhome if fitted on a Transit type chassis.
  19. I wonder if they are going to produce different numbers and the extra cars for a seven or eight car set?
  20. Morning (just) all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis was up to his usual tricks last night until I took some Nurofen. I've noticed that the 'off the shelf' painkillers are not as effective as the over the counter ones. I've been trying the off the shelf ones recently thats why Arthur Itis has been more trouble of late.
  21. I skim through all the posts and if something catches my eye I read it more thoroughly. There is a 'league table' of the most ratings and posts, look under 'Leaderboard', then past leaders and top members* you will see that ER's feature strongly. *Seven out of eight top members with the highest ratings are ER's.
