  1. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. We must have had some rain last night as the road outside was quite damp this morning, that must be what woke up Arthur Itis this morning. It was reported on the news that the houses that were less damaged or escaped damage at Wennington and Dagenham did so because the grass was cut, apparently long grass retains heat as well as providing more fuel.
  2. There was a suggestion that thorium nuclear power plants should be built but the governments do not want to know. Thorium is a lot safer, it can be switched off like a light and doesn't produce such nasties as plutonium. Plutonium is one of the main ingredients of nuclear bombs.
  3. Then you can play spot the vehicle that is too new for the period depicted. Does the red sports car that appears very briefly in Ben Hur count?
  4. Does Maigret count? Its set in the 1950's when the cars used were current models.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Woke up again at six this morning then went back to sleep again until gone seven. Thats despite Arthur Itis putting in a shout but he soon went back into hiding. Congratulations to @andyram on your anniversary and good to see @Robert back.
  6. Watching 'Murder in Provence' on Sunday night I see that the hero drives a classic Citroen DS. The fourth* fictional TV detective to drive a classic car AFAIK unless anyone can name any more? *Columbo, Peugeot, Bergerac, Triumph Roadster and Morse, MK II Jaguar.
  7. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I managed to silence Arthur Itis and Si Attica this afternoon by stretching out on the bed and having a bit of eyelid inspection. Arthur Itis has made a few grumbles this evening so Nurofen has been deployed. Now to catch up on Farcebook.
  8. Now that they are no longer made the real* Land Rover Defender is the one vehicle thats likely to be stolen. *The current 'new' Defender is excluded.
  9. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. A bit late on parade this afternoon. I'd switched on to watch the BBC news, mainly to check on the weather. Half way through the local (London) news it suddenly switched to the news channel! I was able to continue watching on i-player but that meant my computer was 'occupied' when I would normally be on RMweb. There was an apology at the end of the program for 'technical difficulties' but more likely someones fat finger syndrome.
  10. I thought that CC Enterprises had gained control of all known LDC quarries. Of course there may be the odd one that they have not got control of yet but the minions are busy trying to track them down, then CC Enterprises will have a complete monopoly.
  11. If I told you the location I would have to kill you.
  12. Hello again from Estuary-Land. Just as I thought that I'd dealt with Arthur Itis his mate Si Attica joined the affray. Will have to wait an hour or so before I take any more Nurofen and then stretch out horizontally for a couple of hours.
  13. I see everyones keeping secret the location of the LDC quarry, I wonder why?
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. We certainly needed the rain last night however little of it. Only problem was it woke Arthur Itis up, yesterdays exertions didn't help either. Its a bit breezy this morning but thats keeping it cooler than it has been recently. Now time to run a bath, be back later.
  15. For those of you with dogs.
  16. I had a pleasant outing today to the Mid Suffolk Light Railway. The ambience was enhanced by the number of mature trees on the site which included oak and lime amongst others, a very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
  17. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had a great day at the Middy today, and @andyram they are still operating steam so if you can get down there I can highly recommend it https://www.mslr.org.uk/find-us/. Wasn't a bad journey up there despite a fender bender on the A12 causing a slight delay. When we passed it the recovery was under way and we were only held up about fifteen minutes. The journey home was completed without any problems. I had visited there many years ago when they were just starting up with just a few yards of track. A return visit is on the cards for next year.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The day out at the Middy is on. My friend is feeling fit enough to go but has overslept so we will be setting off a bit later than intended. Now just have to pack the food and drink into the cool bag and set off.
